Yes mate i had an 80-60" on my old boat and if out in a bit of swell and i was solo fishing from the back of the boat even with the 60" shaft the prop would start to cavitate. I put an 80-72" on my current boat for that reason. For your 410 Polycraft the 54" would be fine but for the 470 above a 12v 55lb would just do the job but for a little more money (not a lot) the 60" shaft would be a must especially for fishing offshore. Problem may be his windscreen though...
I launch a 5.3m side console by myself all the time and i only have use of 1 arm!
I do have a ladder on the front of my trailer and being a side console i can walk right up the front and climb down the ladder. I also have a boat catch so i drive the boat straight up and then climb down the ladder. Easy Pezy 🤣 with the correct set up that is...
Nice session mate, in deeper water do you just run the ball sinker all the way down to the jig or do you use a swivel? I mainly squid in 4-6m but keen to try some deeper water when the new boat arrives...
None of the transom mount electric motors have the GPS feature like anchor mode/spot lock and that is what most people want them for. Im assuming you are talking about fitting a transom mount electric to the stern?
definitely go the 72" mate. I have a Horizon 5.3m on order and im putting a Motor Guide 80 - 72" shaft on that. My older 485 Horizon had a 60" shaft because 7 years ago when i bought it there was no 72" shaft available. If outside with the 60" i could often here the prop begin to cavitate so im definitely running a 72" shaft on my slightly larger boat when it arrives. Good luck getting one though as they are pretty scarce at the moment!!!
Mercury do the 20hp with power tilt and trim but the 15hp is only available with electric start not power tilt/trim. Strange as they use the same block for both engines.
