  1. Nice collection of photos. Any bream that goes past the 40 mark is a good size, does not happen too often.

Happy with the reddie. My mate was happy with his flatty fillets, besides, I wanted to show the grandkids the reddie. The 3 year old said, that is an enormous fish. His best fish so far is a 33cm bream.

Thanks Bruce. Not too much swell, so we anchored in about 40 feet of water. The burley just attracted pike after pike, so gave up.

Arrow squid. A few times I have had the bigger calamari squid grab a pillie I was trolling on the surface, but less than 7 knots - then thrown a jig at them to hook up. A nice feed.

Thank you. While the legal ones have been a bit scarce up river this year, I've pulled out a 47 and a 55 cm ones to make up for it.

Bloody oath it did. Better eating than the just legal pannies.

Thank you. Not too many boats about yesterday arvo.
  8. Flatties are better than no fish. Do you eat them or release them?

I was happy with the flatties for a feed, even happier with the reddie. The first run took a fair bit of line, I was thinking maybe kingie but hoping reddie, and eventually saw red colour at the boat.

Headed out with a mate in his boat about 4pm. In the distance there were fish jumping like mad, looked like tuna until we closed the distance. Dolphins and more dolphins. Hit the brakes and started a drift. 2 salmon turned up at the back of the boat and would not leave, also would not take a lure or any bait or burley thrown at them. They looked very agitated so I assume the dolphins had been giving the salmon schools a flogging. 3 drifts produced the flatties, the biggest at 41cm, plus the usual spikies. A bit before sundown, we decided to head in near the bombie, anchored and dropped over a bit of burley. I was bouncing half a pillie just off the bottom, then the reddie hit with a bang and took some line before coming on board. 53cm. Kept up the burley and pike after pike took every bait. Nothing else at all so headed home on dark.
  11. Good work there Rob, 3 nice sized fish. Dave.
  12. Nice bag of fish. I remember as a kid fishing in Lake Illawarra near the entrance, the blackfish would head in, ready for breeding, and they would only take squirt worms, not weed at this time of year. Big bronzies some of them.
  13. Good work again Bruce. A big flattie for the young bloke. You are doing much better up there than down here at the moment, though with school hols over, the number of kids in tinnies should be less. Last Friday, the water temp at Wanda Beach was 16 degrees so a bit cool for the fish.
  14. Too many speed boats scooting about.
  15. At least you took something home. Maybe next week with the school kids back to class, might be a bit quieter on the water.
  16. That would really annoy me, fishing and catching nothing. Some people say it is relaxing to go fishing, bullshite, I am not relaxed unless I catch something to take home. 😖
  17. Don't hold your breathe while waiting. 😂 With the clear water, and boat activity, some fish may have moved upstream.
  18. Teaching them about bait collecting, is better than pulling out money all the time to buy bait.
  19. That only thing getting rusty are the hooks for being in the water for so long. There is always another day, which can only get better.
  20. It was quite a bit of effort, but that can be fishing.
  21. You probably did hear me. Voices echo across the water, louder voices echo further. 3 tangles in the one day, 2 on the rods and 1 on a hand line. Sometimes a knot will not un-do, that was it yesterday.
  22. Not a good time to fish, however, I'm not staying home just because of school holidays. In saying that, will not be out there on the weekends, the worst time of all.
