  1. Some nice catches there. Good sized bream, jewies, flatties, moses perch, and a shark of some species.
  2. May have been quiet, but not a donut - something for your efforts.
  3. Plenty of mullet there for future baits. A nice bag of flatties to go on the mullet.
  4. Good work Chris. A nice mixed bag, with a good sized blue spot and a couple of kingies. The mongrel toads still about.
  5. Thank you, the reddie at that size was good eating - 2 nights of feeds. Does not sound good for down south.
  6. Very nice jew there Rob. You are happy when they come up around that size.
  7. Thank you. Don't often catch them that size in Bate Bay.
  8. Well b.n., most of us will catch the covid bug at some stage, and gain some natural immunity from it. As for the fishing, you did well with a mixed bag, enjoyed that part of your holiday at least. You are now ready for another adventure. 😂
  9. Thanks Zoran. Certainly happy with the red.
  10. Thanks Rob. Would have been happy with only the reddie.
  11. Thanks b.n. Cut off the fillets, then in to steaks. Probably pan fry with some addatives for flavouring, some to be frozen for later.
  12. Thanks Chris, very happy with the reddie. The bonnie was going hard too. Swallowed the circle hook but not bitten off.
  13. Headed out this arvo with my fishing mate to Bate Bay, his usual spot. No trags today, however, the pike were there instead. Caught a couple of slimies, so kept them for strip baits. Floated out a strip bait, the bonnie grabbed it. My biggest one at 57cm. Tried another floating strip bait, and the reddie grabbed it. Several fast runs, thought a kingie at first, then a change in fighting tactics, then the red colour under the boat. My equal best at 63cm. For burley we used chopped up slimey bones and the heads and shells of cooked king prawns. I had to eat something while I was fishing away! A bit of reef rubbish biting, then at half dark, the tailor came on the bite. The biggest at 48cm, and my mate kept on getting bitten off before he landed a few. Most released, we could have filled a tub there were so many swimming about. Mate also pulled up a few slimies bigger than 40cm, good sized ones on the bite. Schools of sea garfish swimming about the boat, which probably attracted the tailor to the boat. I managed to scoop up 2 gars, the others swam/jumped out of the net. Headed home as we had enough for a feed. Very happy with the reddie.
  14. Very nice Rob, you have been finding a few flatties just recently.
  15. Good when a plan comes together Bob, and the fish bite. The reddie is a good eating size
  16. A good days fishing, a mixture of fish, plenty of fun to be had. Don't think a crab grabbed the yakka, they usually inflict more damage than that. A fish of some sort.
  17. Very nice there Rob. No complaints about those. As the rain drifted over - I saw it on the radar - I wondered who would be lucky enough to be out there in the rain? Now know it was you. 😁 You are having a fish, then the sky dumps onto you, not much you can do. The worst is when you see lightning flashing down, hear the big bangs then realise the storm is right over the top of you.
  18. Still a good day out. A good flattie, nice whiting, crab, sambos, tailor. Never liked circle hooks that much myself, one day a hookup, the next is no hookups, then most fish hooked in the throat, not the corner of the mouth.
  19. Great work there Zoran. What's wrong with a bit of rock 'n' roll (music) ? How do the alphonsino go on the plate?
  20. Not good about the flatties, a bit of distance to pull it up. In regards to the last flattie, the mouth is open, you are wearing gloves, stick your fingers in it's mouth, grab the bottom lip, and pull it up. You may have the jaws clamp down on your fingers, you are wearing gloves, just a small bite if anything. As for the fingers in the mouth, do not try it with tailor, spanish mackerel or other toothy critters. A couple of bream for variety.
  21. A nice mullet for a change, something different. Worth having a cast or 2 with the lure.
  22. A big silver trevally. Have caught some of the big ones like that on 6 pound line, have also hooked up to big ones that do not stop and eventually break the line. Not a big tail on them such as a bream or jewie tail, however, that tail just keeps swimming away and they do not stop.
  23. Thank you. A feed tonight, then more in a couple of nights. Good to see a few kingies moving about in the river. The water is still coloured, however, the fish should be getting hungry.
  24. Happy with the catch. The yakka was more than 30cms long, the trag in the low 40's. It was swimming around the yakka on the surface, looked like having another go at it. Just a greedy trag. A few better sized tailor about, a couple at 45cm and a slightly bigger one that was released. As I reported, big schools of pillies on the surface, so something will be feeding on them.
