  2. One happy camper there!!!!, great 65cm Kinghy rule,,, there are plenty of fish out there to go round.!!!! ...Mind you I still see undersize ones being kept,, when I question them,,, they shrugg their shoulders,, Im not the fisheries and Im out there to fish and enjoy my day,,,, I dont want to start a confrontation.
  3. The iron ore (enviro) sinkers rust in your takle box and make a mess,,, I threw mine in the bin (thoughtfully!) I thought lead came from out of the ground in the first place???
  4. You sure you were fishing off Botany????? *smile* AWESUM CATCH!!!!.... I think he must have been lost,,,, not often you find em that big round here!!! Jealous!!!

  9. Hope you got to see him faceplant!.....that one will go down in history for the great!
  10. I had cut pilchards on a 2 hook paternoster we caught one snapper on it but the whole floated pilchards (the sinker helped the pilchards drop) seem to get the most hits
  11. We were using a small running sinker a bit bigger than a pea, with a 4/0-5/0 hook,, we were only catching them on pilchards, we had squid out on the same rig and not even a touch. The pilchards were whole with the hook pushed through the centre of the pilchard and then the hook set in the eye of the pilchard with the line then half hitched around the tail...
  12. I have found the Kings to be taking not your normal kinghy bait,,,pilchards, prawns and nippers,,, had live yakkas, and whole squid with not even a touch,,, the nippers were going off nearly evey drop!
  13. After fishing there and seeing what came out of port phillip bay,,, i now believe they have real snapper down there!!! I went out in a 4.5 metre twin hull Webster at 4:30am in the dark and doing about 30kms per hour,, it was a bit hairy too,(there is a reasonable swell out there!), took us about 45mins-and hour to get to the 'snapper' spot, as i said im from sydney and can only try to direct you to that spot as best i can....funny thou everywhere we fished seemed to be about 18metres and mud bottom,, i expected reefs and at least 30metres deep,,, im sure that there are places there somewhere with reef but Im sure it is more towards the heads/mouth,,,another thing the flathead they have down htere are very different to the flat head here in sydney,, they have very small heads and are blackish colour to blend in with the black mud bottom,, the ones i catch here have very wide heads and are a sandy colour... was good fun...snapper fishing is a different world down there!
  14. JESUS CHRIST!!!!!! awesum fish there champ!
  15. people have just lost respect for other ppl and their belongings/gear in this world....its pretty sad...in the end ur the winner because those R-soles will never be any better.....

  18. I fished there for the first time at Xmas (Im from Sydney) we caught 5 Snapper (biggest 5KGs smallest 3.5KGs) We were fishing in a spot which was pretty much right in the middle of port Phillip bay,,, about 15Kms from the Williams town boat ramp ,, was about 18metres of water,,, seemed to be mud bottom,, the Snapper only took our pilchards,, they didnt touch the squid
  19. Funny you say about the time you caught them,,,, I have caught 20 or more kings in the bay (Rats and keepers....nothing over 70cm thou..) i have caught ALL mine between 7:30am and 9:30am.....

  22. I was at Molli point on sunday as well(7am-9am) got 4 Rats (50-60cms all went back in for me to catch next year!!! mind you i seen a few others go into boats and never come back out again...bastards!) and a Bonnie, funny I caught one kinghy on a paternoster with a pilly cube, seen the tailor school and followed it for an hour to no avail, threw lures, floated pillies, soft plastics, prawns, squid and poppers at them, they just werent taking them!!! i moved on over to the oil wharf, fished for about an hour, got nothing but the boat 30mtrs from us got 8 Rats in 30mins, out of the 15-20 boats around us only those guys and a 3.5mtr tinnie 5 mtrs from the back of my boat were getting anything ( the guys in the tinnie were using only prawns and nippers!!!) the buggers that got 8 in 30mins even had a triple hook up goin,,,, we were just watching and wondering.........
