After fishing there and seeing what came out of port phillip bay,,, i now believe they have real snapper down there!!! I went out in a 4.5 metre twin hull Webster at 4:30am in the dark and doing about 30kms per hour,, it was a bit hairy too,(there is a reasonable swell out there!), took us about 45mins-and hour to get to the 'snapper' spot, as i said im from sydney and can only try to direct you to that spot as best i can....funny thou everywhere we fished seemed to be about 18metres and mud bottom,, i expected reefs and at least 30metres deep,,, im sure that there are places there somewhere with reef but Im sure it is more towards the heads/mouth,,,another thing the flathead they have down htere are very different to the flat head here in sydney,, they have very small heads and are blackish colour to blend in with the black mud bottom,, the ones i catch here have very wide heads and are a sandy colour... was good fun...snapper fishing is a different world down there!
