  2. Well done, good stuff.....any pics of the bigger one??
  3. Well done, aweosme fish, big fish are still around, just a matter of luck if you stumble onto a school of jelly beans or absolute stonkers
  4. Good report and well done on sticking it out, definately paid off for you
  5. Musty is spot on, Gutters change each day depending on conditions and the best way to decide where to fish on a beach is to monitor the waves and where and how they break....they will indicate where the gutters are.
  6. I would not recommend a reel like a TLD for jigging....jigging with an overhead is much harder and a tld would take considerably longer to get the jig down.. Instead of going for a spheros you can go for the new Shimano Saragosa series...this are already nicknamed the Super Spheros.....awesome reels with heaps of drag but much cheaper then a Stella or Saltiga.... Here are some specs Shimano Saragosa 14000 This is the reel some are calling the "Super Spheros"; a proven design with all the features serious saltwater anglers wanted, plus Shimano's latest Propulsion Line Management System and Paladin Gearing. High Speed Retrieve Stopperless Design (No Anti-Reverse Switch) Aluminium Frame Aluminium Rotor One-Piece Bail Wire AeroWrap Oscillation Six S-A-RB Shielded Ball Bearings plus a roller bearing Direct Drive Mechanism Machined Aluminium Handle Shank Drilled Spool Skirt Titanium Spool Lip Easy Access Dartainium Drag Washers Ergonomic Septon Handle Grip Repairable Clicker Model 14000F retrieves 104cm per handle turn from a 4.9:1 gear ratio, weighs 800g, and has a capacity of 350yds 20lb nylon, 290/25lb, 220/30lb. Maximum drag is 20kg.
  7. Mate i went and bought a new Smith rod for it today, the new WGL series with a lifetime warranty on breakage......this baby will do fine.... Mate at over $500 for the new rod today the Calcutta money wont come close..
  8. Boban, yes we are guessing it was locked to ten kilos..........possibly a touch more...very concerning for all braid composite owners....i raved aboout them for the last year...now very concerned heres a fresh pic of johns fish straight after capture
  9. Funny thing is i replaced the T-curves with the braid composites.....now it looks like i may have to go back to the t-curves....
  10. Hey guys, well with all the YFT activity going on around Sydney i decided it was my turn for some fun.... 2 boats got together Suley's Quinny and JOhns new Trophy and we hit it straight to browns for an afternoon bash... Within 5 minutes of arriving JOhn and his crew were onto a fish and 20 minutes later he landed his first YFT.... Then our boat got a double hook up that Saw Sal land his first YFT.... For the next 2 hours it was hook up after hook up for both boats....... I got onto a real biggen with my Stella only to have the rod snap on me....I fought this fish for 40 minutes after the rod snapped to only lose an estimated 60kg YFT at the boat....(Videos down below) Me on the fish first off http://s182.photobucket.com/albums/x310/ne...nt=MOV00116.flv Me now with half a rod Please forgive any swearing in the vids... Needless to say it was a good afternoons fishing for TeamTurk and Crazyjohns crew...... The fish were weighed on scales at home and came in at 47kg for my Bro's fish, 28kg for Sal's one and 37kg for Crazyjohns Yft.

    Tuna Gear

I will have to agree with Stewy, will do for the smaller fish but not for any bigger fish
  15. Well done mate, really good stuff
  16. Im definately a Tiagra man, I have owned TLD's but have heard some horror stories from some Charter operators with TLD's and also seen a TLD 30 smokin on a decent size marlin.... I have 2 x Tiagras, 1 x 30a Tiagra which is used for YFT fishing and a 50w for marlin fishing. I used to own four Tiagras but sold the other 2 due to non usage. But these days i mainly use a Stella 20000 for YFT and Marlin
  17. nice fish 270lb....awesome stuff
  18. Good form guys, this is an awesome read to see Stewy and others come to the aid of a great fisherman to be.... GOOD JOB
