Hey All, Thinking about buying a new finder, dont know much about the specs of finders and what to look for, only thing i have use the finder for previously is to measure depth and water temp. What are the important things to look out for in a finder, how should i compare different finders??? Any assistance would be really appreciated

Nothing to do with showing off mate, i have always caught the dollie season at the end of it, i know that there had to of been bigger ones caught in sydney and i am hoping there have been....i have been on a charter in coffs where we were getting 1 metre to 1.2 metre ones repeatedly..just wondering do we see that sort of action here. Am looking at upgrading my boat this winter so i can chase some bigger dollies out wider next season, but dont want to do it if all i can expect is the same size ones that i get from 10kms out.

Out of curiousity whats the largest dollie a member has caught off Sydney, do they get as big as coffs, port mac etc. mine is around 90cm

eating qualities differ from person to person, dont eat fish myself but have been told that both taste pretty good, smaller jews i have been told taste better than the larger ones. As stated previously mate, these fish can take years to master, as mondo suggested i would target Bream, flathead, tailor in your position.

Cant help you too much with the camping side but a rat is a small kingfish, usaully under 70cms long....the main difference between a king and a jew is the fact that a kingfish has a Yellow Tail, Also Jews have scales where as kings dont. Kingfish Jewfish

Although there was an element of spite involved i have always tried to be as honest as possible in relation to where i get my fish, and have always posted my trips here since becoming a member and hopefully helped some raiders in the process. From the last 2 jew reports i have posted i can see that there are a small minority who seem to like protecting spots. Hey Nick, First of all mate you have the right to your opinion, thats what healthy and fun debate is all about. But you dont know this guy, he asks me where to get kings and i tell him, he asks me where to get squid and i tell him. I ask him where to get jews, he keeps it too himself. Then he goes around saying that i take his King spots, he is a very selfish fisher, i always help people if i can. Me lazy, i put nothing but work into fishing when i started, countless hours searching for weed beds for squid and chasing squid, it took me 20 trips to get me my first king. I dont know jack about jews and i am happy to admit it, and they are people here who dont know jack too but would love to get one, Thats why i am telling people where he goes, so people who dont know jack can experience their fight, just as i have. Mate if you wanna be bitter its your right but i will continue helping people and if jewknob continues being the KNOB i know he is i will continue revealing his spots. I dont know if you read my previous report which has been closed, if you havent have a read of it, you will see the jewknob bullshitted just so i wouldnt anchor next to him, thats why i am telling everyone

The majority of Bay king fishers seem to use Yakkas as bait, in the harbour Squid out fishes yakkas considerably, Do you guys chase squid much for bait??

Penguin, you may be on the money, i do have a canopy but i didnt think a think bit of canvass would effect it, will try with canopy down next time....thanks

its hard to beleive that they go from the most beautiful looking fish to dead ugly in less then 10 minutes, thats some nice looking Dollies there fellas....they are great fun

Fellas i have decided next season i will be dedicating a few trips for the bay instead of doing all my fishing out of the harbour, some of your catches this season have been too hard to ignore....quite impressed Thing is i have never been in the bay...so....don't know where to get live bait from, don't know where to launch from...don't know where to fish for Kings....so hopefully come November i might be able to get some assistance...
