  1. Yeh, I'm mainly bait fishing
  2. A bit of both. Mainly Wharf and shore. On the Hawkesbury we hire a place at Bar point which is a jew hot spot and im planning to have a few poddies out from the wharf at night. Plenty of bream and flathead there too. Iv'e heard good things about the soron so i might have to get it:)
  3. hey guys, i'm looking for a jewie set up. Mainly for estuary fishing and i need to know some good rods, reels, braid and rigs etc. Is the Abu Soron STX any good?? Any help would be very appreciated.
  4. Yeh mate, i was just interested to know whats down there. i have a feeling the fish i saw were salmon because they were in the 70cm range from a few meters away. Saw a few bream also. Might give it a try
  5. Hey guys, i was down at tambourine bay the other day. There are heeps of very promising mangroves and there is also a nice sandy section near the baths. There were poddies jumping everywhere. Further out from the mangroves just within casting distance there were some decent fish bustin up bait. What could this have been. Is it worth trying for bream, whiting and flathead in the sandy section or flicking lures for bream and what possibly were tailor or salmon? Thanks
  6. In Pittwater i would try either the pillboxes at west head or Mackerel beach wharf. Yakkas and slimies mainly. For the kings try West head, Stokes point and barrenjoey headland works well to. Also coasters retreat is a hotspot for Kingies, salmon and tailor. Good luck
  7. Yeh, I think ill stick to bobbin head. On the southern point i normally fish. I might see if there are a few mullet and bream around also. What bait and rig would you use for there.
  8. Hey guys, Tomorrow i might have a fish at either Bobbin head or roseville bridge in the arvo. Which is better? I normally catch loads of little bream at Bobbin Head but a friend told me that there arent many little ones around at the moment and there are some big tailor aswell. Another report about roseville at night interested me but i would only manage to fish the arvo. One more thing. I had dinner tonight at The Lane Cove Steak House which is near the weir. Just near it there is a little bank and the mangroves on the other side look very promising. Big Bream by the looks of it. Would that be worth a try with bait or lures??
  9. Hey Yaulpang, i was thinkin of trying there soon. Just a few things. Where exactly did you fish?? etc Beach, rockwall or platform. Do you think a live poddy mullet would be worth a try down there??
  10. If you bait fish then i seem to get quite a few big ones on prawns.
  11. Hey mate, Try Dangar Island if u want flatties. I also get flounder, bream, whiting, tailor, small snapper and crabs. Great spot. U have to be very specific though where you fish. I find the area on the south point of the west side to be best. everywhere else seems pretty ordinary. As you said try wobby for jews:)) Just try the south west point for flatties, whiting, bream, tailor, snapper and crabs with prawns and nippers and your all good. Frozen prawns do the job really well.
  12. With the amount of mullet there it wouldn't surprise me...
  13. That's probably why, Mullet heads are the go
  14. Yeh, I was just thinking that i might give the bridges a miss because of that current. We have a lot of difficulty there especially with the anchor. I think we will just stick to Dangar Island and if There are any other suggested spots for either Jewies or any other fish that are nearby then it would be great to know. Tom
  15. Yeh, Unlucky bout your cousin. What Bait did u use in the crab pots???
  16. It probably was a kingy i reckon.
  17. Rty the moorings around pittwater. Iv'e heard things are starting to hot up there.
  18. For somewhere like the bridges would you still use a rig consisting of a float, very light sinker, swivel, 1m leader and a 2 hook rig?
  19. Hey Steven, I thought i read something that said Tailor have to only be over 21cm to use as live bait. Most of the tailor we catch there are around 28cm so if they do have to be 30cm then they would be too small.
  20. Ok, We might have a go with the tailor because we normally get a few when fishing for flatties on the flats. Apart from the bridges are there any other good spots near by?
  21. I reckon it was either a small jew or big flattie. I've caught plenty of flathead near there on pealed prawns and jews are meant to like them too. I think i'll hold on tight to my rod now:)
  22. Yeh, I don't do much plastic fishing but might give it a go. The norm is to get a few legal flatties up to 45cm and smallish tailor and bream aswell. If we manage a small tailor or small whiting is it worth using it as a livie somewhere??
  23. Hey mate, If u want them to catch a few then just fish landbased at bobbin head for bream, whiting, mullet and Tailor. Prawns and bread will do just fine. Loads of tiny bream there with a few big ones around. Take them to the marina for a drink and show them the schools of thumping big bream that hang around there. There are quite a few snags but if you use a float or cast it out far enough for them then you should have a ball. You can see heeps of the small bream hang inclose aswell as Blackfish with absolutely huge mullet around 60cm also within view. Good luck Tom
  24. Great read mate. They pull hard ayyy
  25. Hey guys. i havent fished the hawkesbury for a few months. When we do we hire a boat and go straight to Dangar island and get flatties, Tailor, small bream, small pinkies and occassionally whiting. It seems like a very likely place to find whiting as the water is no more than 3 meters deep. I need a few tips on Whiting. We fish with bait usually: 1. What Baits 2. What tide 3. line and anything else i need to know. Any other spots along that area would be great and tips on other fish and baits. Tom.
