  1. thanks, The reel is intended for Jewies, Kings and maybe even for a few trips to Cape York. Could the 4500 reel hold 50lb braid??
  2. Hey guys, I'm getting a Daiwa Exceler DA Saltwater HD 6500. I have a Silstar Crystal Pro 7ft rod. Its a 8kg rod and i reckon it can handle jewies. Does anyone no how to figure out how to match them or does anyone know if they would fit together. Tom

Fish Stockton Beach with Worms or Pillies for Bream, Whiting, Tailor and occassionally a nice jewie. You can also try Fishing for sharks off the beach if your interested. There are Bronze Whalers, Bull Sharks, Hammerheads and some big great whites. God luck

  5. mate, tey Dangar island on the hawkesbury. You can catch them on Handlines, rods and pots. Some of them are monsters too.
  6. When u say Roseville do u mean near the boatramp, The sandy beach area or the park??
  7. Hey guys. Before heading up to hawksnest i was planning on catching a few yakkas, mullet an slimies at balmoral to take up. I'm targeting jews mainly. What are the best rigs to catch live bait?? Jewie Tackle

I didn't realise but the rod i have been having in mind which is in the garage is a silstar 8kg rod. I might stick to it. Its 7 foot long and seems pretty sturdy. The man who i bought it from reckoned it could take kingies no problem. Does this still apply for jewies. Any suggestions on which reel would be great. I think im leaning towards the Abu Soron STX or Shimano Baitrunner. Tom

    Jewie Tackle

I wont get a 24kg rod but i might consider 10kg plus. The chance of hooking a 20kg monster is probably unlikely. Most will be probably 4-10kg. There are definitely big fish there. I'm using 50lb line and do you have any suggestions on which reel will be good??? Tom

  13. Hi all, In late December im off to Hawkesnest To chase a few reefies on charters but also Fish on the wharf under the singing bridge for Jewies. Its meant to be a real hot spot for 20kg+ fish. I will probably fish at night. I have bought some 50lb line and rovex 50lb leader material. I'm getting a Shimano baitrunner and a few other things before we go too. Is a 5-7kg rod ok or should i go heavier. What are the best rigs to use when fishing with probably Mullet strips and other flesh???? Thanks Tom
  14. nice mate, We were at Dangar island on Sunday and only managed undersize bream and A monster Blue Swimmer.

  16. Hey mate. ill PM u a fishing guide that ive used before. Upstream of bayview boat ramp there are bream, whiting, flathead aswell as crabs, garfish and mullet. Whiting and mullet are most common around there.
  17. hey mate, great sesh. I havent caught my first kingie yet and hope to end up like u very soon. Also, i thought that fish looked more like a banjo shark. Shovelnose sharks have very pointy noses. Tom
  18. Where abouts??? like the harbour or hawkesbury or pittwater?????
  19. Yeh, We go up every year too. I was also wondering if you have fished up at dark point or the little gibber before. Ive heard that there is good bream, flathead, whiting, salmon and mulloway fishing off the beach and great spinning off the rocks for bonnies, longtail tuna, mackerel, salmon, tailor and cobia. Is this true???
  20. yeh, do they reef fish or game fish. im only really intrested for a day charter
  21. Hi all, At christmas im heading up to hawks nest for a week. As you probably guessed, yes i will be fishing. Mainly in the myall river for bream, flounder and flathead aswell as jimmys beach for bream and whiting. We also go on a reef fishing charter. Mainly flathead, snapper, nannygai and pearlies. I was just wondering if anyone has been there recently or if anyone just has any tips about bait, lures, spots etc. I'm getting a jewie set up soon and i am yet to try under the bridge at tea gardens for a monster. Iv'e heard of many captures over the 20kg mark so i might just have to try my luck. I'm landbased but sometimes we hire a boat at tea gardens and go up to the mouth of the river. We tried beach fishing last year after hearing good things but it turned out to be a disaster. We didn't have the right gear eg: 7 foot rods and 4000 size reels. had the bait taken but didnt feel a thing as the rod was already buckled over from all the weight from the sinkers. Any tips about charters or tips for gear would be greatly accepted and appreciated. Tom
  22. Also, i have been to dark point just 20 inutes or so north of hawks nest and seen alot of life around. There is a small headland here and it stretches 50m or so out off the beach. Is this a good spot to spin for longtail, cobia and Mackerel aswell as tailor, salmon and bonnies???? im keen to try it out!
