  1. Beware, the dreaded "Third Eye". Tuffy ( aka Lobsang Fishramp ).
  2. Jack, you'd better check with the Heron people - I don't think any line fishing is allowed in that Marine park zone. And the island is only 10 acres in size, so there's not a lot to do unless you are a diver. Cheers, Tuffy.
  3. Get one of your bigger mates and have him sit at the back - that will give you a good idea on how the boats attitude will change before you go spending any money unnecessarily. Cheers, Tuffy.
  4. Tastes like Flathead - but with wings. Good eating. Tuffy
  5. Alfa, you probably don't need a 2 pack for that small item. I'd go with Norglass single pack in the Pearl colour, and yes, you will need the Norglass etch primer as a first coat. If you want to try it I've got some left-over you can use.I've done certain panels on my tinny with single pack and it's perfect. PM me if interested. Cheers, Russ.
  6. Hey Marco,PM me your email address - I've moved job locations and have lost your data. Cheers, Russ.
  7. About 1km due East of the big white block of flats at Dover Heights - I'll try and post the co-ords soon. Cheers, Tuffy.
  8. Or Longnose Point ( opposite Stokes Pt). Often a chance at a kingy there. Tuffy.
  9. Jeez Shim, isn't anything to do with boats worth going to look at ???? Tuffy.
  10. Hi Raiders, Just thought I'd post my results yesterday. RDO, so I didn't feel like busting a boiler, so it was on the water at a respectable 7.30 at Putney and a magnificent trip downriver to the harbour. Did an hours drfiting somewhere SE of Bradleys Head for 2 thumper bream, both going about 35 cms. Even caught 3 or 4 pinkies that were just on legal, but thrown back. Nice change from the little 15 cm numbers that thrive in the harbour.Kept the bream by the way. Then decided to spin out to the Annie Miller - always a good spot for decent lizards. Conditions were near to as perfect as you would get - very small swell of under .5 mtr with no sea. Annie didn't disappoint either, with 6 lizards of about 50 cm each, and a lot of juveniles sent back to the briny. About 12.00 the wind started to pick up to about 10 knts, and having other chores to perform at home I headed in. Home by early arvo, side gate repaired, fish cleaned and filleted, and first bitterely chilled down the throat by 4.00. Does not get any better than that boys. Back to work today which is a bummer, but reliving yesterday with the fellas at work. ( I think a couple of them are jealous.) Cheers, and have a good weekend. Tuffy.
  11. Shim, what's your budget champ? That is going to depend a lot on what you can purchase. Let us know and we can come upith some more accurater advice/recommendations. Cheers, Tuffy.
  12. You've got a 50HP on a 3.7 mtr ??? That's gutsy. Tuffy.

    Quiet 4 strokes

I have a 60hp 4 stroke yammie & sometimes turn the key whilst it's idling. Nice. Browndog has a 200 yammie 4 stoke on his barcrusher & that is a great donk as well & quiet for it's size. Swordy has a 50hp Suzuki 4 stroke & it is very quiet as well. Add Honda 50EFI to that list. Tuffy
  14. Mate, Google the Techni-Ice site, they have exactly what you are looking for. 110 ltr ice box, about 1200 long x 50 wide by about 60 high. I've got one and it's a ripper. Tuffy
  15. Their words were "it's a buyers market in Port Stephens." And all the way up the Coast as well. Have a look at Kempsey, perhaps not the most salubrious town, but very close to SW Rocks and good houses can be bought sub $200k with plenty of good tenants available . Tuffy

    sydney boat show

Not overly impressed this year. Like Kel said, not much vibe. Cost me $50 in entry & parking and spent $4 on some hooks. The only boats that took my eye were the Kiwi Surtees boats. Typically built Kiwi tough. Anybody out there own one? Overall though I found it a bit uninspiring. Just my opinion but think I'll give it a miss next year. Tuffy.
  17. Very very well written, Tony, you hit the nail on the head with every detail - family life can be just as funny as it is frustrating at times, but we wouldn't be without it. Tuffy
  18. A flathead from Homebush ???? Tuffy
  19. See, that's why i don't go fishing with you anymore Marco - - - all you see is Jewie, Jewie, Jewie even when they have tentacles !!!
  20. Hey Roberta, yep, it was an awesome catch, although I don't think I'll be topping it for quite some time. I must be getting lazy 'cos I get more enjoyment out of catching a smaller kingy to be honest.More excitement in that. This one was just like pulling up a VW Beetle from 300 mtrs - the odd kick here and there but no big blistering runs. Russ.
  21. Raiders, went out last Thursday with fellow Raiders, Rads & Sparky, in search of the elusive Southern Bluefin tuna. Well, as other Raider Dangas has previously described, they were few and far between, Radio chatter out past Browns indicated there were plenty of Albacore and Stripies but the elusive Bluefin were few and far between........that is until we saw Dangas load up. We were trolling just about everything with no luck until on Dangas' advice we switched to blue coloured deep diving x-raps. Next lap and BANG - double hook ups and we were ON !!! Pulled in the third line and went to work. Rads finally landed his about 45 mins later and a nice SBT aboiut 60-70 kgs. My fish at that stage was giving no quarter at all and it was pure and simple tug-0-war between me and him. After about 90 mins we finally saw colour, and these pics are what it is all about!!! We estimate this bloke to be approx 90 to 100 kg - took 3 of us to haul him thru the transom door. My biggest fish EVER, and now my PB SBT. Gotta be a contender for FOTM. Look closely down at the bottom and my shoe is visible. Great day with good mates and 3 hours the next day to break them down.......with beers of course. Cheers, Tuffy.
  22. Locodave, any recycling centre will weigh for you at a nominal cost. Just pick a time when they are not busy . Tuffy
  23. Thermal underware ............ or just stay home with the rum. Tuffy
  24. Michael, check out the SeaJay range and in particular the 420 Magnum. Much more bang 4 buck value and a very stable boat with excellent freeboard all round ( high sides). Will work very well with a 30hp or even a 25 depending on weight of occupants and age of the kids etc. My first boat was a 4.2 Magnum wit a 25 Jonno 2 stroke. My avatar is the 4.6 Magnum converted to centre console. Tuffy.
  25. Yep, it comes straight off. There is also a vertical brackett available - same concept - if your transducer requires it. In fact, it will probably be the one you want. View here : www.whitworths.com.au/main_itemdetail.asp?cat=&item=32383&intAbsolutePage=1 Tuffy
