    Alvey 650BC

Boattart, the Alvey is not a "lever drag" in the traditional sense like overhead reels. The lever on the back of an Alvey is purely to actually activate the drag out of the free-spool function. The drag pressure, as with all Alveys, is modified by tightening the star shaped or knurled knob in the centre of the reel.Bit like tightening a nut. Try it. Tuffy.

    Boat Lighting

Aaaahhhh, brings back memories............dimmed mood lighting, a glass of Pinot Noir, soft music, the warm bearskin rug, and the scent of pillies. What a night it was!!!!!!!!! Pity I can't remember her name. (The Old Smooth) Tuffy.
  3. You forgot the "Organisational Chart", you know, the one that Sparky created that tells you where to put your rods, tackle, bait etc, like, " 7' Snapper rod MUST lean up against left rear of transom and partially restrict overall fishing area, surplus pillies are to be left on floor at centre of main work area etc."
  4. 2004 Seajay 4.6CC, 2010 Honda 50, 2007 Pajero 3.8 VRX. ( Boat & car not colour co-ordinated unfortunately) Luv 'em all. Tuffy.

  11. Good luck on the move North guys. Don't forget the sunblock and of course the croc / insect repellant. Cheers, Tuffy
  12. Sido, another suggestion is to adjust your skids slightly. If the boat is new it was obviously set up properly to begin with, but as you have travelled a bit now, with some boat movement on the trailer while towing, it could have dropped the skids slightly. You can check this by rocking the boat while on the trailer and if there is the slightest movement side to side then just nip up the skids a bit and make sure the bolts are tight.New rigs have a habit of settling a bit, so adjustments are necessary. Cheers, Tuffy.
  13. Jeez, there's certainly some talent and expertise on this site. Good onya, Ceph, for coming up with the perfect advice and good luck Bennoz with your project. Cheers, Tuffy.
  14. Anything is possible. I put one in my 4.6 Seajay when I did the conversion from tiller to centre console. Could mean a bit of stuffing about however, depending whether the boat is glass or ally.I'm happy to give you suggestions/assistance if you want - just need to see the boat. Cheers, Russ.
  15. Fillets need to be 15 to 20mm radius. "Build a shell in 2 stages". What do you mean, the box which will go into your recess?

    Fuel Storage

Only problem I see with that, Greg, is that jerry cans can be dangerous trying to empty into your main tank in a swell etc - spillage does occur and trust me, you don't EVER run out of fuel in a flat sea - it's always in shitty conditions. What about 2 x 25 ltr outboard tanks with a long fuel hose from the front to the engine - just for emergencies. 50ltrs = 50 kgs so that shouldn't affect your up-front weight too much. You could run the fuel line under the floor and attach to either up front tank when necessary. Tuffy

    Fuel Storage

Do you have room under floor for another custom built tank - either fore or aft of the original? That'd be the safest solution. Tuffy
  18. Empty Hooks, I did exactly that for a mate's boat and in fact I think the sizes were almost identical. 12mm CD ply is all you need but make sure you treat the ply with Everdure first to seal it from water, then do as Dave B suggested with epoxy resin with corner fillets.2 layers of glass mat will suffice and we finished ours off with a layer of Flowcoat to give a smooth finish. Don't forget about drainage as well. Any help needed just give me a call on 0402 110 666. Cheers, Russ.
  19. Hey guys, does anybody out there speak and read fluent Japanese ( and English as well)? I have been given a colour combo unit which is a Sonix Japanese model. Trouble is all the bloody menu and everything is in Japanese, so I can't figure it out. There is a Japanese shop in the new Top Ryde centre and a young lady up there was very helpful in identifying the buttons on this unit, but when I get into the menu I'm totally buggered!! I'm trying to sort it out so I can give it to a mate for his boat, so if any of the Raiders can help me I would be exremely grateful. Please call me on 0402 110 666 if you can help. Many thanks, Russ.
  20. Good on you, Bull Shark. Your lucky to have met Squidboy - he's a really good bloke and is more than willing to share his tips and locations with those who are interested, I've been out with him on the Parra near where we live and it was very enlightening. It's always good to meet other Raiders and share info. Reminds me, I haven't seen Squidboy for a while - may have to send him an email and catch up. Cheers, Tuffy.
  21. Hear, Hear, I'm with you Dorado. Tuffy
  22. There is a cable splitter available to connect 2 head units to the 1 aerial. Available from Whitworths so I assume Bias would have them as well. Cheers, Tuffy
  23. Kosta, have a look at my thread in Swap & Sell - I have a Lowrance X515CDF for sale and the unit is brand new. Comes with 50/200 transducer as well as speed wheel. An exceptional colour unit with a lot more features than the ones you are considering. Depthe range up to 1000 mtrs with fantastic pixel display. This unit was recently replaced by Lowrance and has just under 12 months warranty on the head unit. I have just upgraded to a new HDS7 so this is surplus to my requirements. Am asking $450 but make me a reasonable offer and I will consider. you can see it working and I'll assist in fitting if you like. Cheers, Russ.
