Pongrass were made for years, closed, reopened, changed names at one time (to Freeline) not too sure how old that one would be. There was a cabin model about 18-19’ at one time. That one has been pretty well cut to bits, in a very “backyard” way. Pongrass were OK boats, reasonably well made, not exactly top of the line, but OK.

My brother in-law a way better boatie than me had a pongrass in the 80’s that use to get him out there and back safely then.Good info you provided Damon 7 mate.

Yep, better than nothing, however, just enough for a feed.

    Thank you.

The bait sits a short distance above the sinker, yet the occies hang onto the sinker.

Just a meal. Hoping the occie would hang on a bit longer after being retrieved from near 200 feet down, but no, he had to let go of the sinker at the surface.

    Thanks Fab.

Have not heard from you for a while, though the fishing is a bit quiet due to the cooler weather and water temp.

Been overseas working on maintaining my 128kg of pure manly sexiness eating, drinking and being merry.

I couldn't stand it either Fab. No way could I find joy in sitting amid the traffic during these extra-busy holiday periods. Can't say I have ever enjoyed massive crowds of people and vehicles, nor the additional costs of travel in peak times. If possible, I limit my travel to off-peak times.

    bn

I don’t blame you mate.We did that when the kids were small. Now they’re grown I have gone one better and don’t go anywhere .

I rarely fish at Easter ,Christmas or school holidays and I plan my holidays so they fall before or after the school holidays . Unfortunately the hoards of grey nomads out there also do this - they bail out of the camp grounds just before the holidays only to descend upon them like a locust plague when school goes back.

My last holiday was in 2001.Thank god I don’t have to worry about anything anymore.

We are starting to fill up around town down here in Narooma. Hopefully no more risks taken on the bar as the conditions are starting to look poor from here for the entire easter break.

I wouldn’t hold your breath mate as stupid in society is getting worse and it’s unfixable.

  8. Anyone use fenders on an unpainted aluminium boat? I think I may have been dumped and will probably be flying solo when I start going out again.

I have a suspicion I’m probably the only one going to use them on a unpainted tinny.

Those squid spikes are meant to be quite effective with whiting or pillis. I haven't personally tried but did see some people using them to great success and asked the tackle shop about them and they said that they're worth using when the squids aren't hitting jigs

I’ve seen people catching squid using pilly’s on them. One thing I know is they’re cheaper than some of the proper squid jigs.

  10. My brother in-law is 10,000 times better angler than me does this with great effect on the drift. He uses soft plastics drifting with a patternoster too.

The weirdest thing I’ve ever seen is a guy catch a squid with one of those squid spikes pierced through a hot dog with a ball sinker above it when I was on holidays.😂😂

I guess anything works at times hence people catching fish with bare hooks, using spoons as lures etc.

When you work night shift ,am / pm, day /night and which day of the week it is becomes a blur- I have trouble remembering what year it is let alone remembering something from school ( not that I was ever there ) 😂

I can relate working nights mysel. The other night I dated all my paperwork (12 hours worth) 1985.😂😂2F6C009C-5993-481F-B05B-19E9CD6E7A94.gif.f6a08ad706be2d94bc17e11634decdd0.gif

Ok , gave this a go on Saturday . Not difficult but I found the half hitch either came loose or it ripped the head of the prawn off . I ended up putting the half hitch around the head and hook which seemed to keep it all together . The way Yowie does his is easier and I found I can feed the hook in the Botton of the head and out at the tail then put a half hitch around the hook and head and lock it so it holds the head in place - more experimentation needed !

I just think Bugger it and toss bare hooks in for my usual results of Nada,Zilch, nothing to save time.
