    G'day Raiders.

Fished yesterday off broken Bay and got a few blue spots, started out at 40m and there wasn't  much happening so went out to 50m of water and got a few on half pillies on a 2 hook patternoster rig - got bitten off a couple of times but not sure if it was green toads ( caught one at 40m mark) or leatheries . Came back into half tide rocks to do a few drifts on the last of the run in but didn't  do any good on pillies and hawkesbury prawns.

Oh well got a feed !

I wouldn’t complain about a result like that.Well done mate.

More balls than brains and a statistic waiting to happen that’s for sure…they miss-timed the last few badly.
If this was NSW they’d all be fined for not wearing a PFD.

    Cheers Zoran

There’s no fix or cure for stupid mate.Poor boat.

Is that you & Yowie ?

I know you want to get rid of him, but, come on.

I’m not going all the way to Noosa as going to the hacking is far enough.Beside I like Yowie and I wear my life jacket even in the pool. It’s called love handles. They stop you from rolling over.

Shame you didn’t call me I have a I met of just cooked lake prawns to eat

Maybe next time as it was a spare of the moment thing after tending to our horses this morning. Many times we decide we are going and gone before you know it on spare of the moment trips like that.

I wanted to look at Berkley @ Reddall ramps for launch options mainly.

  5. Just got back from a drive down to Windang with the family for a look around and feed.Plenty of people fishing and catching a few.I could see schools of whiting in the shallows.

Pearler of a day but getting hot and surprising there was still parking at Berkley ramp and at the Bridge ramp.

What’s the go with Reddall reserve boat ramp? Not much parking there? We just had a feed at Aishes and walked around everywhere then drove home.

    lakes cleaning up nicely.

chatting to a bloke at Aish’s (Local) there in his tinny with daughter in tow telling me they are doing well in channel and drop off. Some good fish caught.

Welcome to my useless thought of the day🤣

Those of you who fish saltwater land based will know that rats and mice are common on the shorelines, most notably in urban areas. The past few times I have noticed rats scurrying around…surely a few have fallen into the drink and become fish food!

I wonder if they may form part of the diet of estuary fish as a result? Part of me is thinking that it might be worth including a rat lure in my arsenal!

I know Murray cod eat them, but has anyone tried mice imitations in the salt?

You should see the ones at my work. They look like wombats!! Under Windang bridge people have entered underneath one side and never come out the other legend has it as there’s heaps under there too.

And finally I reckon even if I bait up with rat I still won’t catch that bloody @Yowie’s fish.

Fab, don't blame someone else for your ability as a fisho.  :074:

For dead prawns, hook up the rear end, out near the head, head off for larger prawns, and a half hitch around the tail. (Fab, you are copying me) and a small running sinker.

Drift and bounce, or cast and bounce along the bottom.

As for live prawns (smaller ones) a hook through the second last section up from the tail.

I’m an expert at rigging the baits I use. That part I know I’m good at.It’s finding the bloody fish I suck at really bad.I’ve rigged prawns like that(like you) my whole life.Never used live ones. I rig live yabbies the same way or pin them through the tail once when I can be bothered getting them the few times I’ve pulled my bait pump out.

I use them the way he says is wrong, tail first on the hook, thread on until Prawn stays straight and natural, half hitch around tail to keep straight and fished with no sinker if possible,  Very simple, takes about a second to do and works a treat.

My prawns must be broken as I’ve tried rigging prawns with no sinker (I always rig dead prawns like you through tail out between legs & half hitch or peeled) but they just pretty much float regardless of how still the water is.

So I always revert back to running sinker rig.

Maybe I should just blame that bloody @Yowieas everything I’m lacking as a angler is his fault.😂

Hahaha ... yes it made me yelp for sure, plus drop a few choice words. I'm still trying to find time to finish the video and tossing up whether to leave that part in.   Yes devOcean is roomy but like all boats she shrinks on the water.

    Cheers Z

Leave it in that’s the part I look forward to the most. The oceans a big place and even the mighty ships look like a speckle.Hope your knees hold out for many more years to come mate as mine at 48 yrs old is a giving me trouble.Doesn’t help I’m a heavy weight at 128kg.I need to try to get back down to being a lightweight at 100kg.

The photo with the tiny canoe looking thing on the reef, is a local diving for Lobsters to sell, he got about 15 that day, ready to cook on the beach, there is about a dozen locals do it, all share a big pot over a fire, or a BBQ plate to cook them, cut in half with butter.

Yeah we are those people it’s not for.Our idea of bliss is no one in the vicinity of 1000km in all directions.Last place you’ll ever see us is on a ship or plane.😂😂😂I’ll just look at all those places on my phone and be content thanks.Nice photos mate .Enjoy.

Just recently got back from Vanuatu, the day before cyclone Judy (Ironically my wife's name....) and while we were away I got a kind of "thing" on my ear, my wife said it looks like a bad skin cancer, I kind of said something like "it wasn't there before" anyway, she had me with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana skin! As soon as we got home (the "thing" had got bigger) I saw my doctor, he poked at it, looked at it with a special light and declared it to be a Tropical Ulcer, said I probably scratched the skin without even knowing, then went swimming and hey presto......told me they just continue to grow and eat a hole, eeeyeeww, anyway, he froze it to death and said it should be fine, but check in next week because we go away again on the 19th! So everyone out there, if you get even a tiny wound that starts to go weird, see your doctor ASAP! Especially cuts and scrapes that happen around the water.

Should have gone on a cruise mate.No diseases on them🙄.Just leave me here in good old Australia thanks.Hope you get better mate.

Haha, next Monday night is meat night, only 9 of us last night, easy going, no cooking, little clean up (that's my job) and dig all the grandkids pool toys out of the pool, goggles, hair ties, flippers, floats, squirt guns, hang up a dozen beach towels.....you name it.....

  15. @Yowiei was going to go fishing this morning but decided it’s a bit to hot for my fragile little body to be exposed to.

So I decided to sit here topping up the pool for a day of laziness singing hear @Yowie’s little fishy, fishy, fishies.

My hat goes off to anyone out in a sardine can in this heat.Don’t know how you guys do it.

I’ll put on a bbq later and pretend I’m eating whiting while chowing down on some Beef and chorizo.

Thanks, probably boring to most, but sometimes first hand accounts kind of fit into a topic in a sideline way. That page from the diary is just one of a hundred, I don't know anyone who kept something like that, for so long. He was a very keen bird watcher and mentions various species and nests, I will read a bit more and see what I can find about Windang.

Cheers. One thing I’ve learnt about progress and change is many times it isn’t for the better.
