do you change the water in the drum if not it will retain salt defeats purpose
Maybe he has the telltale squirting outside the drum mate and the water constantly filling.I know what you mean by it not being ideal.Thats what i use to do when using a drum.

I've forgotten how to flush it's been so long I've been out.But i "use" to flush at the ramp on the way home for a few minutes just above ticker.
One flush I'll need to do is flush the cobwebs out of my boat. But it does serve another good purpose in the garage according to the mrs.It makes a great cloths line.?

I just measured my rig, a Stacer 449 Outlaw SC with 60 ETEC on a gal Telwater trailer.
Length from front of towball to rear of motor leg (motor vertical): 5.670m
Width from mudguard to mudguard: 2.030m
Height to top of side console: 1.870m (maybe allow 30mm more if the passenger seat is in the centre position... I leave my boat tilted up a fraction so I can easily reverse my car towball straight under the hitch).
Hooe that helps. You’d need to allow more if you have the motor tilted up into towing position.
I thought id be looking at around 4.5m boat or if i put a swing away drawbar like Zoran says id fit bigger.
Thanks for checking dimensions as it will be a little while yet before i make the final decision if ill sell mine and take the plunge.

Fab, don't forget to factor the extra width of a bigger boat. From what I remember of your past photos, it's tight in your garage.
Yeah,it is tight especially lengthways.Width i still have decent room but i do only have a single lug with the laundry sunken in one corner.
Even if a 4.5-4.8 metre boat will fit I'd still give weigh up whether to sell mine or not.

Cheers guys, will study routes and weigh up options incase i need to drive every so often as i will commute by public transport where possible.

Coast runner is a good option but ud need to measure the top of the visor and as jeff correctly pointed out the height of the bait board if it has one.
Another option is the quintrex top ender or renegades
Will do.When I decide to get something else I'll be sure to check lengths, heights etc.Im guessing I'm fairly safe to look at boats up to 5m?

Fab, for the time that you are travelling at I would go M5 and then over the bridge. You can get the M5 cash back as well.
I haven't driven to the city for over 20yrs mate and the last time I caught a train was in 1994 up until 2 weeks ago.lol.How does this cashback work as I haven't used a toll road In yonks too?

My boat is 5.4m but on the trailer with the motor down is 7.13m or motor tilted up its 7.48m.
so I put it sideways in my current 6x6 garage with the motor down. Which I have to remember when dragging it out as I have dragged the leg twice as the driveway slopes.
As for height my bait board is the highest part at 2.48m. The windscreen is 2.2m from the ground. So my bait board clears the panel lift door just by 2cm if that.
i also cannot move my boat more forward on the draw bar as it’s a bowrider and is already close to the tow ball and a swing draw bar would give me much extra room.
So at my new house I’m building a garage to suit the boat ?
Sounds like your size boat is a tad too long/tall for my space.
-
I was thinking maybe another runabout, bow rider,or side console.I like cabin boats too but the height would be the issue. It must fit in the garage whatever I choose as I don't have anywhere else to house a boat.
Say something like a quintrex coast runner in the 4.8m range as an example that would probably fit on the same length as trailer my 420 sits on.

Does that include trailer extension?
Yes,from the coupling back.

Hopefully something in the 4.5-5m range will fit.

What size boat fits comfortably i:e straight in a 5.8x2m high lug.
Thinking of getting something else and selling my tinny soon.

Download WAZE on your smartphone ... its an excellent navigation tool. Free download, uses a teeny bit of your data plan ... but all WAZE users are constantly updating their journey, so WAZE knows about problems, slow downs etc and can automatically re-route you. Has other nice features, but free download, give it a go....
Cheers
Zoran
PS - forgot to say, if you end up driving M7 and up Pennant Hills Rd (ie Cumberland Hwy), your about 5min from my house.... drop in for a coffee/beer.
Cheers.I worked at pennant hills toyota as a spraypainter.

With your drum n ring setup splice a short peice of stiff wire into your poing out at an angle toward chain it catches on ring an stops anchor from dropping by the way 56 isnt old i just find after movin spots 8 times in one morning i didnt raise a sweat or have sore hands i set and retrieve anchor myself by driving boat and idling bak to float saves my mate doin it hes older than me hahaha
Thats a good idea with the stiff wire mate. The one i made the ring slides up the shank of the anchor and stops on the anchor flukes.
Ill try
56,you just reminded me ill be where you are now in 12 short years.?Life certainly goes before our eyes.

hey Fabian thanks for the offer but I spent many years pulling anchors by hand before we started using floats...always fun in 90mtrs when u have to reposition to hit your mark because of wind n current....rick
Fair enough mate, one day ill be elderly too and have to resort to doing the same.I have a drum and ring i made to try but am afraid the next step after that would be packing a handbag every time i go fishing.??

Are you sure they were the stainless with rubber cups and not the plastic cups? If so I will grab a spare next time I'm up.

As mentioned I don't use those whitworths ones anymore, the simple soft rubber ones I posted earlier have never given me any issues. I do use brass fittings on both ends of my hose but they still join to plastic on muffs or other wash mixers.

Thanks for replies everyone.
The bearing race numbers match, I even took the new one out and put the old one in - both driven all the way in. The old one is spinning inside there now too! I checked with a torch too and there is absolutely no gap - they can't go in further. I'm using the mother of all brass drifts (it's about 20mm wide) and a large block hammer. This is around my 5th time doing bearings so I have a fair idea.
I have done some more research and loctite make a product just for this problem, additional guides say to use a punch and score the final mounting surface to add some friction can also help. I called the local bearing place and they have a much cheaper loctite alternate - after I pick it up this afternoon I will take some photographs of the problem and the solution for all to see in the future.
Thanks for the help everyone!
Perhaps its time for new hubs.I Wouldn't bother with the loctite unless your broke.New hubs aren't that dear.
