Google disconnecting vro pump for endless info on how to go about it mate.I'd be looking at doing something about that rust around your wheel nuts too.Welcome aboard.

if your steering is that hard to turn..you either need to replace your cable or remove it and run a lubricant thru it..its not hard but will make a big difference..grease tends to clag up in them over a period of time..its normally a grease and salt mix in the tube that makes them hard to move...run some degreaser thru then oil  you might be surprised at the results..rick

Use automatic transmission oil as it's nice and thin.

Not sure about your setup...... but to add to the great advice Rick gave you,if your running the cable setup with pulleys...I'd remove the pins and give them a clean up and lube also.

Yeah, you certainly don't find this hardwood at your local Bunnings.Hardwood is like many things and is becoming rarer with the cost of it going further north all the time.

I've just inherited some more materials.I wonder how many hardwood mirrors I can make from these?

SI just bought my first boat and the engine is having some problems. My mechanic says the engine is “hunting” when you accelerate (I don’t know what hunting is). It’s not starving fuel either. The carbi was rebuilt and the thermostat was welded closed (it was open). We tested compression and the spark plugs and everything seemed fine. Any solutions? Engine is a PowerTec 40HP (knock off Yamaha engine)
    Thanks in advance

Hunting is what I use to do in the younger days chasing the ladies. But in outboard terminology can mean it's hesitating, surging, missing etc.A stuck closed/open thermostat should be replaced as it will never reach operating temp or overheat.

Tell his mate you have a friend that's a gun fisherman and would love to take him out then send him to me.You'll never have to take him fishing ever again.1 for being a lier and 2 for causing him pain and suffering with me.??Good fun spent with the boys mate.

Headed up the river last weekend for a couple of days. 12 year old just got his boat licence so you can imagine he was pretty pumped at the thought of complete independence.

We've never tried the whole blue swimmer thing and were staying around Bar Point. So we bought 4 witches hat nets and thought why not. How much fun.

Baited em up on Saturday around lunchtime with mullet and some old frozen slimmies I had left from the last kingy trip. that was my job done. Sat there and watched as every hour the little guy took a crew of kids to check the nets. Was unreal.

Bagged out on Saturday afternoon before 5pm - they were that good sitting around in the evening. Next morning he was up and gone at 5.30am to check the traps we foolishly left in overnight. they were massacred we believe my muddies. Literally nothing left.

Great fun, and nothing better than seeing the kids out and about, driving boats, picking crabs out of a net and on the land. Gold.

Excellent stuff!I was lucky to have a Billy cart at his age.

great work! How long before you have to heat the water from the outside shower?

That reminds me, I better write up my solar pool heater and post it!

Probably soon and I may have to add a bath with bubbles too.

When we first brought home our 6.4m Haines (8m on trailer) and parked it fully on one side of our double driveway (8m frontage)... our neighbour approached my wife and asked the same ... "how long is it gonna live there?" .... then mentioned ... "she's  going to call council as there must be rule about this or something" ..... and her excuse for being upset about our pride and joy sitting fully on our property in our driveway ..... "people coming up the road wont be able to see the Christmas tree in her lounge room window from that direction"  !!!!!!!!!

Sheeesh .... some people think that the world revolves around them !

    Cheers

    Zoran

You should have apologised and told her You'll only park it there from New year until Xmas.

Where's the rest Fab....this only has a starting point?

Is there other parts to it? I will do a search and see if there is more.

It's a 10 part series starting from page 4 in the workshop.Hope it gives you some confidence. It basically is a half hour job with experience.

Looks like another learning kerb for me Fab.....never done an impeller before.

I'm good with tools and all, but first time that I will try and replace an impeller....kind of exciting but worried at the same time if you know what I mean.

Oh, btw....... thanks for the PM. .. found it very helpful.

    Hahaha.....other literature.

    You kill me.....:risata::074:

    Ear muffs are ok....

Thermostat.....well it wasn't heating up after 10-15mins of operation.

Whats a poppet valve ? Motor is probably mid 80's....did they have this poppet valve then?

Something tells me its the impeller.....hasn't been changed n 8yrs although never used for the past 6yrs.....might be cooked from the heat sitting and not getting started?

Good work mate.Impellors develop a set(Memory)when not used and the impellor vanes(Fins)will no longer be supple and pliable as they once where with a snug fit in its housing.

I bump the starter on my motor over with the lanyard removed every week to avoid this when it's not in use.It turns the impellor and stops in a new spot.

    Frank

My spare time has just been taken away as I have inherited a heap of work pulling down some stables and bringing back to life a couple of engines.??
