  2. I know this is a mega long shot, but do you ya reckon its maybe a juvenile GT?? i was looking at http://www.amonline.net.au/fishes/fishfacts/fish/cignob.htm and they appear to have yellow fins when they are younger... I know im probably way off but thought i might throw it in.. haha
  3. Good idea...Id be up that for sure...
  4. You will be fishing in the Hastings River, Hit the oyster leases for bream, go further up the the hastings to Blackmans point...for more bream and flatties, plenty nice snaggy Mangroves all the way up the hastings towards the fernbank boat ramp (on hastings river drive). Head over to North Haven, its about a 30 min trip from Port Mac but well worth the trip, much better fishing and not as many people, There is a spot at North Haven called "Clondyke" you will see it on the map, it has nice sand banks with weed beds and structure everywhere, near the inlet of the lake in the deep is a shipwreck, you will see it on your sounder, anywhere around this clondyke area is awsome, my mates uncle fishes for flathead with livies there and catches absolute monsters!! I have been snorkelling there for years and rarely go there without seeing a monster flattie, Fish when the tide is dead still... Also head up dunbogan way from North Haven, anywhere around north haven is flattie heaven...Also good for Blue swimmers if you wanna go spotlighting I could keep writing but i think ill get the sack in a minute hehe Cheers Joe
  5. well done guys...sounds like another great social. Unfortunately i couldnt make it cause i had work commitments. I SPOTTED OFFTAP's cougercraft on the way home driving along falcon st at 4pm...geez thats a big rig, i want one!!!! it looks like you need a hummer to tow the thing..
  6. Yeah this is how i was cooking them last year as well...B.E.A.Utiful! they are really easy to over cook though....it takes about 3 mins each side if that, if you cook it too long it becomes really dry and ...
  7. Bloody hell, if your after marlin for live bait it looks good.. I cant beleive it has a gimble...imagine seeing someone reeling in a yakka with there live bait rod strapped into there gimble belt Whats next a chair, harness and steel trace....
  8. Top work guys...good work on the 41cm model stewy...well done on the cherry popper John
  9. If you are having problems with Windows Live use the standard "Windows Messenger" that comes with your PC. START > PROGRAMS > "Windows Messenger". It doesnt have pics and all the other fancy stuff but it never has problems....I use when ever Windows Live is stuffing up...
  10. The questions in the quiza are EXACTLY the same word for word, i know i couldnt beleive it either.....I got my license about a year ago, remembered all the questions from the quiz and got 100% in the test.....
  11. nice catch there, what time and tide were you fishing on? i go there quite often to swim but have never seen much surface action, maybe if head down there early morning?? wouldnt mind christening my yozuri popper down there....
  12. The name for the lure is a Ecogear SX40, arguably the best hardbody bream lure on the market, go fill your tackle box up with em....
  13. such a hard question....I have narrowed it down to a top three.. 1. sashimi tuna 2. Flathead 3. Snapper

    Bass Lures

I have been most successful on Dan Mcgrath Attacks and Ecogear SX40's, anything in a natural colour to the environment your fishing in, for the poppers i like to use anything that resembles a cricket....But as Jewhunter says, take a range of lures shallow divers, spinner baits, poppers....some days they dont like poppers some days they dont like spinner baits etc etc...so yeah take a range and find what works on the days.....oh and you can never go wrong with the jitterbug either..
  15. Yeah thats the one, thanks for your advice guys, will give it a crack up at port this weekend......yeah they are pretty expensive but Yozuri have mad such a good reputation with there squid jigs it feels worth the price..
  16. Yeah ill be up there for 2 weeks visting my folks as well... are you going to be landbased or boat? If fishing from the breakwall you catch your usual suspects, bream, flatties, tailor....there is shitloads of blackfish to be caught. If you wanna try for a jew, i suggest you take some yakkas over to the north shore break wall (over the ferry) and have a crack.... If your in a boat PMQ is lizard heaven, plastics along the flats work a treat (anything gold works for me)....plenty of oyster racks for bream too, use lure: Ecogear SX40 you will clean up.....if you wanna go outwide be careful crossing the bar it gets pretty hectic at times... Have you got a beach rod?? plenty of good beach fishing.....hit shelly beach on the side with the long wodden stairs...(you will se what i mean when you get there) try for jewies and sharks...also the north shore beaches are great... I also recomend popping up to hat head for the day...its only about and hour away.....anybody that has been fishing here knows how good it is.... its on the contintntal shelf so you can catch just about anything.... anyway cheers and have fun Joe
  17. ahhh i see, when you said backing with braid, i thought you meant you tied the braid straight onto the spool, hence my "are you mad" comment, my apologies...
  18. yeah i use braid on my ABU 7000 but i back it with mono, but i havent ran into the problem your talking about.......you do back your spool with mono before you put the braid on hey?

  23. bought a Yozuri 3D pooper the other day, it looked so good i couldnt resist walking out of the shop without it, my question is, what fish do i target with it? and what sort conditions and areas do i use it? thanks Joe
  24. If you can find a fish and chip shop that uses flathead for their fish let me know!! too expensive for shops to use for their standard fish and chips.......most places you use flake (shark) or whatever else is cheap at the fish markets at the time...
