  1. They are great tips, thanks! Im a little worried about using the reserve battery though, it must be there for a reason? does it maybe work like a CMOS battery in a PC and provide just enough power there to make sure your system settings dont get wiped?? Or maybe these types of batteries arent meant to drained below this point? I just find it weird that the manufacturers would sell themselves short on battery power, thats a massive selling point with mobile phones.
  2. The reason why most vendors only take eftpos is because, Eftpos machines are basically a modem, when you do a eftpos transaction the vendors eftpos machine dials into your banks server and deducts money from your account. The fisheries have taken advantage of this system and setup there own server that can be dialed into via an eftpos machine, it then generates a receipt with your fishing license...this method also makes your fishing license instantly recognisable by the NSW fisheries as it is entered into their database via the eftpos transaction. Vendors that accept cash for fishing licenses, im not sure what they do...perhaps they put the transaction through later on in the day? or maybe they have web interface they can enter it through? Correct me if im wrong but thats my understanding of it... Cheers Joe
  3. Well done mate, its looking tidy... Cheers Joe
  4. Premium is always gonna be cleaner and more octane hence making your engine combust more efiiciently and effectively. You just have to decide if its worth paying for, personally for an old outboard i wouldnt run it, but every now and then when you feel like spoiling the old fella give him a tank of premo, otherwise run standard and put the difference in your wallet... cheers Joe
  5. Hey raiders, Im thinking of goin for a drive out to dingo dell on saturday, the problem is ive never been there, is it worth the trip out there? is it good 4wding? do you reckon there is any trout in the rivers up there? Cheers Joe
  6. Sorry mate just my opinion, i wouldnt buy a rod or a reel for under 200 bux, i have had nothin but trouble with cheap gear...sorry I did get the rod and reel mixed up.. cheers Joe
  7. I wouldnt buy any overhead reel for under 200 bux, especially that Penn....unless your just bottom bashing for reefies....Your rod is only as good as your reel, no good getting a good rod if your gonna strap on a crap reel...
  8. Hey mate anything over a 1500 size reel im an overhead man, Check out the ABU baitcasters, your can cast, jig, troll what ever you want, I run a 7000LD and swear by it, can run up to 80lb braid...can strap it onto the beach rod and outcast an eggbeater.... can strap it onto the 24kg or 15kg stick and go jewing, kinging, dollying, bottom bashin. A great all round sturdy reel. the TLD25 is another good option but you cant really get a good cast out of em...and if your fishin for jew i guess you wanna be casting...I wouldnt run anything but braid but thats just my personal opinion, other people like mono better, Have a crack at both and see whats suits you. for smaller reels i like the tiny eggbeaters, especially the browning series, i use the A405 for bass with 4 pund line, just beautiful. not expensive either. cheers Joe
  9. I dont think it will make much difference if any at all, I have been racing 2 stroke motorbikes since i was 5 and i have run bikes using petrol with ethanol and have had no fuel quality related problems at all, one of my bikes runs straight methanol with no enhancements other than a bigger main jet and expansion chamber. This is on high performance race engines, i dont think youll have a problem with a outboard boat engine, especially with such a low ratio of ethanol. The manafucturers of course have to say dont use it to save there ass, and get out of some more warranty claims.
  10. nice work guys , I read most of your fishing reports and it sounds like you have your squid and kingfish down to an art, great work, hopefully we see some good reports from other raiders on the bigger kingys now cheers Joe
  11. I have never tried Patagonian tooth fish, are they seabass?? i tried to order one from several seafood shops a few years ago but no one seemed to be able to get ahold of one, i finally found one and they were going to charge me about 200+ bux. Where do you get a hold of it, do you know any restaurants that serve it? Man that sounds good, im definately gonna have to give that a crack cheers Joe
  12. I dont know what lobsters you have been eaten mate, they have shitloads of meat! the only part you dont eat is the head...im not a big fan of mornay though i reckon it ruins the flavour, also prefer a blue swimmer floater anyday.. all in all yeah i reckon they are overated cheers Joe

  14. well i missed the gorilla, dont a feel like a tool.....counted 13 passes.
  15. Thanks for all the info guys, Me and my mate drank too many beers on saturday night and wake up till 11am which saw us on the river at seaham (near raymond terrace) at 12pm. Wrong time of the day to be fishin, nobody was catching anything, we were so hung over that the horrible smell of all the dead carp along the banks from prevoius fisherman were making us just abut spew, after about an hour of piss farting around with bread and corn under the floats we decide to call it a day, Ill do it properly next time.....but we did see a MASSIVE dead carp that someone had killed and left on the bank...would have been about a metre and a half long and about 50cm's high an absolute MONSTER!! and it stunk to high heaven as well... once again thanks for all the info , ill put it to good use next time...and stay off the the night before Cheers Joe
  16. Bass Pro shop rods are pretty good for there money...my bass rod is one of these (or was till i snapped the other day ) extremely light, IM7 graphite, flick tiny lures a mile and priced reasonably. Or if price doesnt worry you get a Gloomis hehe
  17. Thanks heaps guys, so corn, worms, dog food, bread, geez i might just hang a turd and put that on the hook wish me luck, will post pics if i get any!
  18. Yeah there is plenty of dunes there, there is also some serious tracks there which you would want to have serious lift and 33's to hit.... Hey thanks for that site ive been lookin for a good 4b site, do you know anything about lifting the wrangler?? apparatly its harder than just replacing the shocks and springs??, also when you put 33's on em word is you have change the diff ratios so you can pull them?, which i beleive cause i have got 31's on and it has put the speedo out 10km/hs and 3rd gear does 70km/h @ 2000 rpm which is way too fast for third gear.
  19. Hey raiders, I have been roped into a carp fishin adventure on sunday up at newie, i have never fished for xos gold fish before so i need little help... I was watching a pommy fishing show oin the lifestyle channel once and they were using these funny rigs with what they "boilies" which is basically a netted little bag of chook pellets/burley pellets with hooks dangling around it, any one got any tips on rigs, bait, tackle to use? also can you catch em on big lures? or do they just eat little pellety grainy grassy stuff?? any tips woulb be great cheers joe
  20. yeah those shrimp are deadly, i saw a doco on one the other night, they say there little claw things move faster than a 22 caliber bullet...which would pretty much go straight through your hand..
  21. Decided i better give the wrangler a test run on the dunes before heading to stockton this weekend...found this 4WD park near cronulla, 17 bux for a whole day! bargain! i decided i would hit one of the biggest dunes straight up, i forgot to let down my tyres i accidently backed off at the the top of the dune and when i put my foot down i just dug myself in had to get the ranger to pull me out....awsome day though, good little practice park..
  22. I use 4 pound braid with 6 pound fluro carbon leader, the brand of the fluro is some weird japanese brand that i bought from fishfinder tony seems to work a treat on bass, havent reeled in any decent sized breambo's with it yet though... my method for choosing line class though is go as light as you can without getting busted off...i use fluro because it is so bloody invisable in the water....and the light braid, because A: there is no way im gonna catch a bream bigger then 2 kg's and B: i can feel every little bite an take and get a better lure action.
  23. nice going fellas , do you ever NOT catch anything swordie??
  24. Hey, What a shame....yeah take it to the panel beaters, they will fill the scratch up with bog, sand it back and respray it, my guesstimate is 250 bux for this.. good luck Joe
  25. Bloody hell, crazy bastards, i hope they had their Kwells
