    GoPro Cameras

Sony Action Cam looks okay, but from what I have read, using it with the waterproof cover seems pretty lame with just one button for start/stop recording. You can't make any adjustments at all or even turn it on/off without taking the waterproof cover off. In any fishing environment you will want protection from the water so that's a big let down for me, especially since my main use would be on my kayak. I have been looking for 6 months and still can't decide
  2. Ha! That's one odd looking fish. Perfect hook up in the jaw.
  3. Enjoyable read. Reminded me of when I wrote stories at school
  4. 65lb drag? Just curious, what reel have you got?
  5. Thanks everyone. I have used Tortue in the past and while it was the most abrasive resistant line I have used, it was so hard that is wasn't very good to cast. I will also be using this setup to cast out far for squid using fish skewered on spikes. How is Schneider Klearline for casting?
  6. I've started to get back into a bit of bottom bashing off the rocks but all my spinning reels now have braid. I have found mono better off the rocks in the past as it doesn't cut as easily on rocky bottoms. I will be targetting dirty fighters like big drummer and groper. Obviously the harder and thicker the line, the harder it will be to cut on jagged rocks, but I don't want to comprimise too much with casting ability. I would like to fill a Stradic 5000 with mono, I think 20lb would be good choice. I would like to know what brands people recommend. Cheers.

    Tuna on a pole

Damn, that was quick work. What is that blue thing with spikes on the floor of the boat?

    Binoculars

Can anyone recommend a pair of binoculars under $200. For the boat. Cheers.
  9. Presuming you are land based. I've caught rats on prawns and pilchards under a float, but any decent size king is pretty fussy and will only take a live bait (I usually use live yakka under a float). So I would keep trying for live bait before throwing out a dead bait if you are specifically targetting kings. Otherwise, target something else and hope for a king by-catch. Or just continue with the lures
  10. I read this report on ozisofishing yesterday but I am not a member there so I didn't leave a comment. I enjoyed reading your report. The "gamer" style of writing was particlarly entertaining.

    Fish ID, Barracouta?

Cheers fellas. Yeah, I won't be eating the barracouta again. It was on par with aussie salmon, yuck! The mowie tasted pretty good, though!
  12. Yeah, it's just as bad down there unfortunately.
  13. Caught these fish on pilchards around 50 metres of water. Longest measured 72cm. I was told they are Barracouta, is this correct? Is there a legal size? I couldn't see any on the chart. Heard they are not the best eating, but it is in the smoker now soon I will find out, ha! Also caught this Morwong at 36cm. Is it a Grey Morwong? The Snapper went 34cm. What size is a Pinkie vs Squire and which one would this be? Cheers

    Bellambi?

x2 Hardly worth it. Probably better off just trolling.
  15. Went out yesterday and leather jackets were in plague proportions. I lost a dozen sinkers and rigs, around 150 of braid and decided that was enough so ended up going closer to shore where they weren't as much of a problem. Damn pests they really are. Drop down a rig and before it even hits the bottom your line goes slack. They bite the line only a few meters below the boat.
  16. Damn, they are fast fish! Look like missiles.
  17. Are these the same fish? Because they tasted pretty good. I thought they were odd looking drummers. Caught them over a year ago.
  18. Seems pretty scarce at the moment. I went to the bait shop to buy some and he said his crew went up and down the coast looking for some and only managed 1kg, so if a bait shop can't even get much I think most of us are out of luck. Have you seen this recent post? Looks like bread is a winner! http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=68976

    Bob day today

Jeez mate what a haul! I never use bread as bait much as it always falls off the hook within a few seconds of hitting the water. Any pointers to keep it on the hook?
  20. Nice photos. 5pm and it is already dark here A trip to Finland is on the agenda.

  23. Cheers, Paul. I will let you know. Yeah, I have a Revo 13, pretty wet bum... Is there anything else you've come across that you would recommend instead? I was set on the Kokatat pants... How are you liking your Kokatat Tempest Paddle Jacket? I also need a waterproof jacket but don't want something too bulky.
  24. Thanks, Roberta. The cheaper ones will do. Now I need to find a dealer.
  25. Bumping this topic up since it is now near winter and I am not prepared! Looking at the Kokatat pants; there are two Tempest pants: Hydrus 3L Tempest Pants with socks Price: $176.00 GORE-TEX® Tempest Pants with socks Price: $295.00 Roberta & Paul, which one do you have?
