  1. I am just wondering if there is any product that you can spray on a galvanized trailer to further protect it from corrosion. For any electrical connections, the first thing I do is put on dielectric grease and it definitely helps protect against corrosion. Wheel bearings etc, keep greased. But for the general galvanized metal, I always see corrosion begin to form especially in the corners or areas where there are welds as this seems to be the place where salt water doesn't get rinsed off properly. Would be good if there was something I could spray in these areas.

What? How do you catch crabs on fishing line? I have done it accidentally in the past but what the?! Please explain! That is so awesome.
  3. Seems like a pretty stable platform to fish from, how much fuel do you think you go through each trip?
  4. Can't really comment on rods, but small kingies? Why set your expectation so low? If you are going to the effort of trolling around, why not beef it up a bit? I guess 12 lb you would have a bit of fun though.
  5. If all you get is sweep, I would try elsewhere. Sometimes, even though the water is full of yakkas, you drop down a sabiki rig and every hook will have a sweep on it as they tend to bite first.
  6. I don't think they make a HUGE difference over stock Shimano washer's and I would only upgrade to them if your current washers are showing age. I use Cal's Grease with them.
  7. Argh, reel right on the sand! This is torture.
  8. Double uni knot for simple braid to fluorocarbon
  9. I have one reel with powerpro and another with cheap chinese braid that is less than half the price and works exactly the same, just isn't as thin.
  10. Yep, they were pink but when "threatened" they glowed green! Aliens I tell ya!
  11. I'm more interested to know, how do you fish without a head?!
  12. Sorry, pictures didn't turn out. Last night we were fishing from a wharf at night in upper sydney harbour. A couple of times we pulled in what looked like pink alien-like asparagus plant. Since we didn't know what it was, we didn't want to touch it by hand. When picked up with the pliers, it glowed bright green like a light stick or Predator's blood. Anyone seen this before? Didn't catch the jew we were after, so it was the most interesting thing that happened all night!
  13. Totally depends on where you want to fish and what you want to catch. Fresh water, estuaries, offshore, or all of them? I have a Hobie Revolution 13 and I recommend it highly, although it is nowhere in the price range you mentioned. Instead of paddling you pedal, so your hands are free to fish. I use it offshore extensively. Wouldn't bother with a motor until you feel confortable with your yak, then decide if you really want or even need it. Get a sounder though, it's a must in my opinion. Definitely leash everything, period. If you flip over you will lose it otherwise. Another big thing to consider is how will you transport it? Roof racks, trailer? Salt water is a b****. Also, sent you a PM with some more info.
  14. His show is is like one big commercial. Goes fishing in some remote place where there is a huge amount of fish that haven't seen a lure in their life. Of course the fish will take anything shiny that drops into the water. I think it should only be shown on one of those infomercial tv stations.
  15. Well done man, lost for words here.
  16. What were people using to catch them?
  17. If you want anything to happen, you need to take action. Report illegal activity to the Fishers Watch Phone Line 1800 043 536 complete the online report form http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/compliance/report-illegal-activity
  18. I am heading to Port Stephens for a fish next weekend. Target species is kingfish. Had no trouble getting live squid when I was there last time. We only fished the south head (Mt Tomaree) at the time, downrigging whole live squid for no hits. Where else is a good spot to try or should I try this location again?
  19. damn, wish i had known about this earlier!
  20. They smell like crap to you, but probably smell real sweet to the squid so why clean em? Just brush them off in fresh water. Same for your tackle box. I am pretty sure fish won't like the smell of soap. I service my reels myself about every 6 months, maybe a little longer.
