  1. illegal???? there goes that idea..
  2. Yeah good idea...a engine block or an old fridge as an anchor and a barrell for the fad should work fine hey... Do you reckon an anchor rope will be ok, or should i use chain...i'm going to look into this...i'll put a fishraider sticker on it for advertisment.
  3. I've heard that the longer that a fad is out there the better.. So i would of thought it would be a good idea to get it out there before the season starts... I've had a scroll around the fisheries web site and it says they put them out in september... Well september is just about over and still no fads... But I guess they'll be there sooner or later hey.
  4. Thanks netic... i would of thought they'd put them out earlier.. Looks like the warmer currents are upon us already with a dollie being caught so early...

    Fad's

Does anyone know when the FAD's deployed??? I've heard of a 8kg dollie been taken out at browns in the last few days...
  6. The leatheries are good for a feed at least.. Move a bit closer into shore and you'll find that they are not there in the same nombers. But then you'll get alot of other rubbish fish there, but at least you'll see what they are without getting bitten off. Good luck with the hawkesbury....
  7. Just about everytime i go out, these days, i'm getting on to some huge jacksons. They seem to be getting bigger and bigger. I used to fish alot down at botany bay and i caught a fair few down there also, but they weren't anywhere near as big as the ones in broken bay. Its a shame that they are not good eating, well not that i've tried one yet.
  8. No size limit...i threw a few back as there is no point mucking around cleaning the smaller ones. Yeah...we were doing some bottom bashing and had a floating pilli out also.
  9. With the rock cod....i chop of their head, gut them, then skin them. I find it very easy to skin them if the scales arent taken off.
  10. The wrasse are ok... I prefer to cook them before freezing...
  11. You'll get sharks off any beach... If you feel like heading north, stockton beach is one of the sharkiest beaches anywhere.
  12. Headed out quite early in the morning, just after midnight to just outside barrenjoey head. Spent the morning there until sunrise for nothing, not even a bite. We wanted to find the salmon in broken bay in the morning, but after 2 hours of waiting we decided to head out wide to do some bottom bashing. We headed to terrigal wide to be greated by dolphins again. There was no fish there last we saw dolphins there, and there were no fish there this time. I thought i saw some birds diving closer in but by the time i set up a lure and got over there they were no where to be seen. So we anchored up at avoca reef and caught some nanygai's, bakers, wrasse, cod, leatheries and a trev, and saw some whales checking out another boat.. Soon the wrasse were taking everything we put down there and we already had enough so we decided to do a bit of trolling along the coast. I was hoping to get onto some tailor, kingies or some sambos, but only got 2 bakers... oh well, hopfully the warmer months will bring in the bigger fish. We then anchored up at east reef and caught the biggest PJ shark i have seen. It was at 15-20kg's easily. Soon followed a snapper, a mowie and another 3 PJ shark of similar. As always, another great day on the water....
  13. Tides work on the position of the sun and the moon.... Its not a regular pattern.
  14. Hopefully the sambos hang around for a while...i'm getting out there next week to have some more fun with them...hopefully. I'll give you back your hook when i catch that big jewie near lion island.....lol...nice report and well done on the catch.
  15. Give this thread a read...alot of great info from both sides of the fence. But im sure you are onto a good thing with the ETEC. http://fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.ph...conomy&st=0
  16. They have a very strong odour which turns me off them... but i guess if you curry it up it will be ok.
  17. Putting up with the hook in my finger was nothing compared to putting up with you 2... Just joking bro....its always a pleasure, and to fishraider.. Alot of top blokes/gals here with alot of knowlege...take care, see ya next week.
  18. Just blend them up a little bit....."roughly blended".
  19. Lol...no worries. I've got a Abu Ambassadeur 6500cs....they are a top little reel that keeps going and going.
  20. Its the nicest one i've tasted in a while, and very simple....here goes 2 parts Plain flour 1 part Cornflakes roughly blended Seasoning to tastes...salt pepper garlic etc... i also use all purpose seasoning (masterfood) and of course beer, enough to make a thickish paste. I used tooheys extra dry.
  21. Yummie..... i cooked some up last weekend with some beer batter. It was the first time i've had tailor in a while and i forgot how nice they were.
  22. I depends how hard you push it....
  23. Go through some of the topics that jewgaffer has started and you cant go wrong. But you'll need about a week to read them, and a month to absorb all the info. Jewgaffers topics
