  1. 10 knots??? I swear they dont go that quick. Every time ive hired a house boat it seems that i can swim faster, i could be wrong though. Anyway, its about 60 kms to jeruselum bay, which means if you do 10 knots it would take you 3 to 4 hrs. But thats how long it takes to get from jeruselum to the road brigde. Are you sure they do 10 knots??
  2. Very nice....What were you using as bait if you dont mind me asking. I was using some gulps outside of broken bay to try and get some snappers, but the leather jackets just ate them to pieces, didnt take long to give up with the price of the gulps.
  3. The wrasse are a bit boney but very tastie. The cod is great eating though, just make sure you skin it. I just leave the scales on and rip the skin off, makes it a bit easier when the scales are left on.
  4. Headed out Sunday arvo and sat under the rail bridge going for a jewie, with no success again. Oh well Only got a shovel nose and a few bites. Got a really big run and busted off on the light gear, always the way. We headed just outside barrenjoey for the rest fo the night. We had some very big bites, a couple of runs, a few snags, but no fish in the boat until we go a crocodilefish, which was released. At sunrise the yellow tail came on, some big ones too. The leatheries started to bite our lines to peices, we caught one and moved on after we put about 10 yellow tails in the live bait tank. We headed to some close reefs to do some drifting and trolling. We had a couple of touches while trolling but no hook ups. We then stopped at some reefs and drifted over them. The wrasse were down there in numbers. Garlic, soy, lemon and chilli wrasse.....yummm. In between all the wrasse catching, a 2kg red rock cod was caught... Was a great day out on the water with some great company.....
  5. I'm not affiliated or have even used the following site, but i think it will be helpful to achieve what you are hoping to achieve.... http://www.fishingsolutions.com.au/ "Fishing Solutions is a free online fishing diary used to store and retrieve detailed fishing sessions, display statistical charts and create fishing reports. The site utilises dynamic satellite maps that can be magnified to very fine detail so you can pin point your fishing session exactly on the water. All aspects of a fishing trip can be recorded and referenced to identify patterns in times, localities, tides and detailed weather conditions. Use the map to find Fishing Reports, Fishing Spots, Tackle Shops and Clubs that have been entered by other users." Quote from the home page.
  6. http://www.boatnames.com.au/ A little bit pricey, but their stickers are good quality and a very fast online service. I ordered mine on a wednesday and had them by friday.
  7. Might see you out there, we'll be in the hawkesbury sat night, heading down to long reef in the morning though.....
  8. Hey netic....do you remember when pat kicked off straight towards the sideline grubber style, the balls bounced twice and then over the heads of the other team (warriors i think) and over the 10m line into touch?? Tigers feed 35m outs....lol, that was the best kick off I've seen ever. Richards was a top player, but i think most tall wingers would of done well with princes chip kicks, benjis draw and passes, and on the outside of fats... Take nothing away from him, but i think if you put Lawrence there we still would of won...big call, i know, but this kid has something special. Benji and Hodgo was named in the tigers line up this weekend but I have a feeling the cowboys might win, but after that they have a clean run home. I cant really see any team after the cowboys till the end of the season that will give us a bother with Farah at hooker. He's a type of player that can stand a game on its head, and Benji can do the same. Come finals time the tigers will be right up there in the thick of things. Tigers for 2007
  9. Storm.... Been the most consistant all year. They also have had a few injuries but have just about wrapped the minor premiership up. Team to beat and should be in the GF. Manly.... Are a very good team when on their game. They should of really beaten the sharks by 50 last night..very disapointing performance and didnt look like a GF winning team. Eels.... Sitting at 3rd now, but with a tough road home they will either sink or swim. Cowboys.... They have the skills in the backs, and the power in the forwards, if they can get it right in time then they have a shot of going all the way. Broncos.... No Lockey, no Hunt, no chance.. Warriors.... Dont count them out, they have everything on the park they need, they just need more discipline and patience Dogs.... Toughish road home, got some key players out at the moment, but even with them back they are still not the same bulldogs team others fear. Tigers.... They are a team that if they get on a roll and get some confidence going they can beat anyone. One of only 2 teams to beat the storm this year. When Benji and Hodgo come back they will be a new team. I think they have the best Hooker in the game playing at halfback, and until he gets back to hooker they will struggle against the bigger teams. Come finals time......watch out. I think the rest will be lucky to make the 8 and only have an outside to no chance of making the GF.
  10. Approx distance to jerusalem bay from.... Parsley bay = 8.4km Mooney Mooney = 13km ATB = 10.5km Obviously ATB would be closer to get to from home, but my boat goes through a litre per km, so driving on the road is kinda insignificant to me when it come to petrol usage. Paul
  11. Lol... I dont blame you for getting lost that night, i can get around cowan with my eyes closed, but i often think to myself some nights, when im out there, that every direction looks the same. Like being inside a big volcano filled up with water. You just cant make out where the river goes. Ive taken some people out there at night, who have never been in cowan before, and they were blown away how spooky it is. But i guess you have to get out there in all conditions before you can truely know it. I bet you know it alot better now breamhntr. Just take care and be safe.... and never ever trust a gps alone for navigation. Paul
  12. You should have a look at some small AWD's.... CRV, RAV4, Vitara. etc... Ive seen some tough v8's even get stuck at the bottom of some ramps because on the lack of traction. It was at a very slippery ramp though, alot of ppl get away with 2WD and its not like your boat is the titanic. so should be all good. You should go up to auto city (crn of Great Western HWY and Carlise Ave) and take one for test drive. They are just around the corner from you so go and hook the boat up and see how it goes. I love the look of them mazda 3's, all the best with your hunting.... Paul.
  13. Get to know cowan during the day before going out at night.... ask breamhntr about that... Cowan looks like water in the middle of mountains when there is no light, especially now there is no moon. You can't see where the river open up, it can be very daunting... If you dont know cowan at all during the day you'd be crazy to go during the night.. If you are rely on the gps, just take it easy and be prepared to spend the night there. Goodluck.. paul
  14. I reckon col will have quite a few "secrets" of his own (that i'm sure he's willing to share). Between col and huey, fishraider will have the boat topics well and truley covered.. BTW col, im sure you will enjoy your time here. Ive read alot of your reports in the past and they are the bomb. Your post previous in this thread is the most (for me) informative, simplified post i've read in a long time. BIG baits are the go i take it, and thats exactly where i've been going wrong, i think. Watch out now jewies, here i come with some larger ammo. And that "old wives tale" you spoke of is what i took for gospel. Over the side of the boat goes the old wives tale. I'm getting excited already.. ..i just about gave up on catching that big jewie after last weekend, after another 24 hour trip (about 16 hours deticated to a jewie) and catching one shovel nose shark and a cold. If you add up all the hours ive spent on the water trying to get that monster jew without any luck would add up to about a month. And WATTO.... why are the californian squid so good?? Ive got them from you before and they seem ok, great value for money, but i always thought local squid would be just as good, if not better for local fish. Is there a big, if any, difference between them and local squid??? I understand that the processing of the californian squid is maybe better than the squid processed here, but i would of thought freshly caught local squid would be the best. I hardly ever have a great deal of luck with catching squid in large numbers, so no doubt i'll be using the cali squid again. Paul...
  15. Container wall goes off...watch out for snags though. Anywhere there is salt water in the bay should be able to get you some fish though. You just have to fish for the right species depending on where you are.
  16. Locations There are a few very well known area in Cowan like Jerusalem Bay, Akuna Bay & the ever popular Waratah Bay. Be warned these spots are BUSY during Hairtail season. In Waratah Bay when the Hairtail are about you could just about walk across the bay stepping from one boat to another. They are the places to go if you like company. I have had good catches at most of the bays in the system but my favorite spots are the northern shore opposite Cottage Point. There is a bay that runs in a hundred meters or so & the eastern side of this & the area just of the sand flat at the end of it fish well. Directly opposite Cottage Point Restaurant there is a sand flat in the north eastern corner which also produces great fishing if you anchor up about 30 meters out from the area where the sand flat drops into deeper water. heading up into Coal & Candle creek the Illawong Bay area fishes well & the shore based angler can score here as well it is one of the few areas where fishing from the bank is productive ( I have seen the bank a bit crowded though). In Smiths Creek you will find fish off the flat in Stingray bay as well. These are a few of my main spots but Hairtail move about a lot so it is worth a try in any of the small bays dotted around the area. http://www.fishraider.com.au/articles/hairtail/
  17. I'll ba a part of that group for sure.... lmao Ive spent so much time at juno with only eels and cat fish to show for it. I caught a hammerhead there a few years back also.... just rubbish.
  18. Just go out with stumpy... you have two hands between the 2 of you, one of you can hold the rod while the other reels.... Take care bro.... paul

    Disaster

If they write anything off they still sell it. So say your hull is writen off.... they will give you the money for the agreed price on the hull, then take the written off hull and sell it to a wrecker to get some money back. I believe most insurers will give you the option of buying the hull back at the quoted price by the wrecker... Goodluck...........
  20. I have the same motor and roughly the same size boat (mine is a touch bigger) as IFS and on the social night done about 110km and went through about 130L... approx 1.2L/km Paul
  21. Sure was $200 mate. You offered us some yakkas i think....thanks for the offer BTW. Paul.....
  22. I would like to start off by thanking everyone who was involved in organising such a great event. ~TaNgLeS~ and myself started fishing over near cottage rock, where ive caught a 185cm hairtail in the past. We fished for about 4 hours there and caught a decent flattie and a few eels and yakkas. We then started to think about the jewies that must be coming in through the mouth of the river. We decided to say hello to the mother ship and then head out to barrenjoey to try and catch that jewie that has been avoiding us for so long, and maybe pick up a few hairies, that we thought might be on its way to cowan after all the rain. We spent a couple of hours there without a touch. Then out of no where arrived a little tinnie, "Where is ATB boat ramp" yelled one of the occupants.. "in the opposite direction to where you are going, thats the heads right there, if you keep going you will end up in new zealand". Gave us a good laugh, turned out they were raiders who bagged out on hairies...well done. Well we spent the rest of the night dropping livies, squid, pillies, prawns, only to catch one gummy shark. We picked up a couple of undersized snappers near long reef in the morning, but nothing to write home about. Returned to mullet creek in the morning to pick up the crab nets to find them empty with the bait untouched. Was a great night, and we look forward to the next one. Paul (tiger_shark) Simon (~TaNgLeS~) ~TaNgLeS~ is holding the flattie which measured (when bent) 69cm.
  23. How about hairtail next weekend....
