    $15000 Boat?

Mate if ya look around and bide your time you will find the right boat and even whilst your waiting you could be saving abit more towards a new rig. In the meantime if your desperate to get out there put a post up in the desperate and boatless section will be good to get some experience by going out there with someone else who has done it many times. We sold our haines hunter 580slf center cab twin 90hp yammy 2 strokes this time last year for 10k and that was set up for gamefishing and was a top boat would have done a browns trip with ease there are picks of it on PAGE 8 of members boats topic in this section....brown sides, cream cabin deck and roof. cheers james

  11. Hi guys Been getting into lure fishing alot more recently. Just have a few questions about working divers for bream. I fish mainly around jettys and moored boats that have a sandy bottom rannging from 3foot-10foot in depth. Should i let my lure sink to the bottom? And when retreving should i make a slight jerking action in the rod? cheers james
  12. May sound like a dumb question but they would use a crane to get em off the ship wouldnt they???/ And i take i they use that tinny to tow the "barge" carryin the container??? cheers james
  13. Hi guys Whilst casting my halco diver around yesterday in the canal i have somehow managed to lose my bib out of the front of the lure. It's a bloody good lure apart from the missing bib......it used to dive to about 3 foot but now sits just below the surface...still has a slight action to it aswell. Would i still be able 2 use the lure or should i throw it out? cheers james
  14. Hi mate I used to get REALLY REALLY sick it absolutly sucked it was like that for about 4 years, tried the wrist bands and the tablets etc but nothing worked for me......but in the past month i have trained myself to not be sick and in the past 6 or so trips offshore i have been fine. I have found staying away from where i can smell the petrol and motor exhaust smells etc and try not to handle any burly as it stinks feral and made me sick at time. When tying knots and changing lures etc i never look down at the deck i try 2 do everything standing up. Not sure if ginger will help stop you being sick???? never tried it. I always try 2 stay busy weather it be checking lines or driving the boat, cleaning the deck, making sure the water in the bait tanks fresh, changing lures anything that will keep you busy and moving around to take your mind off being sick. Personally i don't beleive there is a gaurenteed way to stop you being sick....different things work for different people....jsut keep experimenting and use tips that other people give you to try and cure it. cheers james
  15. Awsum work guys, top report....nice sized longtom too....bloody hard to hook those things are. cheers james
  16. Some of the other catches being made at the moment are... My neighbour went out on saturday and got a 7 foot bronze waler on the 36fathom line also went out on monday and caught a nice feed of snapper and he also went out today and got a few snapper and aussie salmon. At the ramp on monday spoke to a coupla other blokes that had gone out and they got a small yft bottom bashing and a few mack tuna. Iv been throwing a few halco divers around in the canal hoping for a small gt, mangrove jack or maybe a flathead so far for about 2 hours of lure fishing in the past 2 days iv had 1 hit and 1 big swirl behind my lure. cheers james
  17. Nice fish..congrats on the big one. cheers james
  18. The southern wall of the seaway iv heard is a gun spot for gt's at first light trolling small divers. Theres a hole at the end of the southern wall that holds jews And iv also been told along the pipeline is a good spot for jews and gt's. Goin out again on saturday hopefully with the knowledge we have know will get some better fish. cheers james
  19. Fish frames, chook pellets, peas, corn, rice, bread, cat food, tuna oil, sand , water, left overs from any dinners. Me and dad have a 200liter chest freezer for bait nd bits so any out of date food goes in there. Mum put a pizza in the oven on friday nite....well make a long story short it came out black. Made awsum burly on saturday. cheers james
  20. Hi guys Well got on the water at 6.30 saturday morning,,, straight out to the 36 fathom line to have a troll...well when you read the weather reports and it warns you that it is only averages and can be 40% larger at times...don't be fooled....was choppy as hell out there we trolled for about 6 hours for a small mack tuna, also had a reef fish at the 12 fathom reef a boat next to us got a double hook up on mack tuna about 15kg each and dad landed a small trag. MONDAY-- Well wasnt it a magnificant day.....i dont think the wind blew at anymore than 5 knots all day. But lets get to the fishing. Had my girlfreind on board who has never being fishing before myself and dad left the grandhotel boatramp at 6.30am As we entered the seaway i could help but notice birds working along the south wall of south stradbroke island next thing all i see is the water go balistic..i thought that the bustup would have been a school of mack tuna.....yelled out to dad 2 kill the motor so i quickly rigged up a few rods with metal lures and i pegged a laser 50gram in black on 8lb mainline 10lb leader on a small shimano saratoga outfit into the working school next thing rod buckels over ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ $#!t yehh im on, watching the 8lb braid disappear from the reel at a rate of knots was abit of a worry so i worked the fish to the boat slowly but steadily 9 mins later we see colour and dad nets my FIRST and PB giant trevally of 61cm Now for jades turn i cast the rod out for her and told her just to wind in fast about 3 seconds after the laser hits the water she is on and fights her first fish EVER for about 5 mins and lands a nice 41cm giant trevally. By the time we get set back up again theres about 30 working he school and the school had dispersed into smaller schools all over the seaway. There was a school of small whitebait must have been about 2 footy feilds in size that was being worked by birds and the gt's and probably serveral other species. Fished a small reef just out of the seaway for about an hour along side mark burg and his crew which were filming some footage,, we managed a big ass toadfish and a few whiting about 25cm long Decided to shoot out to the reef where we had seen the boat next to us land a coupla nice mack tuna on saturday just before we got to the reef i set 5 lines out the back a mix of skirts and halco laser pro divers with wire traces. As we get over the reef the diawa saltist starts goin nuts dad runs down the back and just before he grabs the rod 2 of the other rods start goin nuts WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOO triple hook-up on mack tuna...get jade 2 keep the boat in idle in a straight line so the lines don't tangle, dad lands his small mack tuna of about 5kg's i land one almost the same size and we dropped another. Set lines back out and did a few laps of the reef landing another 5kg mack tuna and dropping to fish 1 of which had taken a screamer of a run on the 24kg gear. It was about that time of the day when we were hangin for a bottom bash so down with the squid, pillies and tuna peices for a coupla hours managed 4 pinkies ranging 24cm-27cm, sargent baker, tuskfish and busted off a few times on the lighter 8lb outfit that was intended for the pinkies. Also saw a small shark about 4-5 foot cruise past the boat. cheers james By jameslad1990
  21. Kinda reminds me of that BIG M chocolate milk add on tv at the moment
  22. Small peices of prawn, pillie, squid, bread. Sometimes you can pick up other species such as bream, trevally and squid. cheers james
  23. i used a torium 20 i think it was a 20 for downrigging when i went out with another raider, thought it was a great reel. I have a saltist 30t loaded with 600 meters of 30lb tuffline...goin off the seaway tomorrow hopefully will land a wahoo on it, heard they are around. Will let you know how it handles. cheers james
