  1. Good stuff. Hopefully each year will get better with the increase in keepable size.
  2. That's a great report how long were the hairies that you caught landbased? Did you use the ganged pilly rig for those?
  3. Great fish chappo. Hard record to beat now. Well done.
  4. Nice fish. It would be good to know the details of the tag. Do they give you this info?
  5. Goes with your sign in name. Nice fish, were you deep or floating the bait?
  6. Hi piratesgold, I have been asking around lately but all I have heard is that there are bait fish there but no reports of fish being caught. I have been trying to get out there but with weather and other commitments haven't been able to. Hopefully, bank holiday (this Monday) I will get out there and let you know.
  7. Where at JB are you going to be, around the north or south different options depending where you are based. Greg
  8. It doesn't look like a good year this year for Hairtail. This does happen every 4 or 5 years. We were out a couple of weeks ago and fished JB for 2 nights. Nothing at night but early morning they were biting but they were all 1.02 metres and hard to hook. More fish reported from Waratah but of similar size. Maybe the recent cold weather may bring them on, lets hope.
  9. Hi Harold, That is bad luck about the tooth ache hope you can get out this weekend coming. Is that spot you are talking about in Smiths Creek? Greg.
  10. Hi GreyNurse, I have fished for hairtail for many a year now and I think that 1 - 1.2 is small. I don't like keeping them under 1.2 as they can be boney. Over the last 8 years we seem to get a year of smaller ones every now and then but getting more frequent. There is still the chance of bigger ones out there but not as plentiful. Last year on one night we were getting a lot of smaller ones, then the next night we got one (only one) at 1.7. It wouldn't hurt to try that rig. When I was young we just used to use one hook with a yellow tail and had many a hook up. But with a circle it may pay to let it run for a little while. I would still have the recommended 3-4 ganged hooks with a light stick on as well and see which produces the better result.
  11. Hi the bull, How did you go with the hairtail and any other bi catch.

    Hairtail

I read a report in the paper that said they caught some in Waratah Bay. Let me know how you go as I am coming up in a few weeks time.
  13. Hey BigRod, How did you go I am interested in the Hairtail (or any other catches) as I am going on my annual trip in a couple of weeks.
  14. Nice work. Did you measure the Hairtail, how long do you think they were if you didn't? Regards Greg
  15. Thanks for your replies that helps a lot. I don't really care about amenities better than not being able to get your boat in. Maybe the council need to know about all the sand built up on the Callala ramp, it never used to be this bad. Thanks again.
  16. Just wondering if anyone has used the Myola ramp for larger boats lately. I have a 18/19 foot fibreglass boat and need to know if Myola is OK in any tide. I use Callala Bay but there is a lot of sand on the ramp which makes it difficult in lower tides, impossible at a dead low tide. Thanks
  17. The modules have been dropped. The coordinates are on the dpi.nsw.gov.au website.
  18. Good report. There was a fishing show last week where they were using 3 to 4 kilo salmon for kingfish. The kingies they caught were big but not massive so it is true they will go big baits.
  19. That's a shame that they have delayed it but this means it may be right for winter snapper season. Thanks for the update.
  20. I am only new to Bass fishing as well and was told in cooler months to use vibes. A month ago I just used a 1/8 oz vibe in a brown/bronze colour and had great success in scoring 6- 9 bass in each of the afternoon and next morning sessions. For summer I was told to use the cicadas, jitterbugs and other surface lures.
  21. Me and my son are only new to SPs and he has had good success with flatheads using the Zman MinnowZ 4" in 'Morning Glory' colour. He has scored at least one flathead in the last 3 outings with this SP from 34cm to 57cm. So he is beating me as I use a blade, looks like I need to change to an SP.
  22. I think I will wait until after Xmas. If I hear any reports I will post.
