hey i live nearby too but mostly fish around there for poddy mullet... they are in plague proportions in that area...

I am just wondering whether the line size and capacity markings on reels are just recommendations or the maximum for that reel? I have noticed that a lot of you guys talk about using 15 or 20lb line/braid on 4000 series reels, however the markings on all my 4000 series reels have a maximum line capacity of 12lb. Is it OK to go over the line size recommendations on the reels or should I go for a larger reel?

I have noticed a few of you guys are having luck using Gulp Turtleback Worms. I was wonderinh what size jig heads and hooks you recommend using with them?

We normally just take sandwhiches or rolls and whatever snack food is in the house (chips biscuits lollies etc) but seeing what some of the other raiders take I will have to get a little more adventurous!

Hey Robeebee where abouts (roughly will do) in the Georges where you. I used to fish the Georges all the time as a kid in the old wooden row boat we used to put on the roof racks and launch when the Lugarno ferry was on the other side of the river. It sank one night but that is another story.
Seeing the sucess you have I think I might have to revisit my childhood.

I had heard that about red disappearing in water, but it is the opposite of putting red beads and tubing on the line when chasing whiting. Although you usually get whiting in much shallower water.

Do people thaink that hook colour makes any difference? I was shopping this morning (as you do when the weather is crap) and noticed that there seems to be a lot more red hooks around these days

About 1.40 to 1.50 with NSW tax these days and 1.90- 2.10 at marina - ouch
There is no NSW tax on petrol. It is all Federal Excise and GST!

I usually put in at Georges River National Park on the weekend/day time as it is a nice drive to the bay with the misses and kids.

My preference would be for a threadline reel and if using 20lb mono should I use a stronger leader?

I am looking at getting an outfit to chase Kings in Botany Bay and Jews in the Hawkesbury and was wondering what class of rod, reel size and line class I should be looking at. I know everyone favours braid but at this stage I would like to start with mono.

I was wondering whether any of you guys use leaders with SP?
The reason I ask is that we have just returned from Sussex Inlet where I was using sp on 6lb mono. On Saturday morning the sp got smashed (the first go was a touch, the second go was a play and then he absolutely smashed it) and what I am assuming was a big flathead took the entire sp and bit through the line. I was wondering if I should use a 12lb leader like I do with my bait fishing?
