  1. G'day raiders, Well, I've finally afforded to fix my boat and what a great day Sunday was to take it for a test drive. I took the two young boys and decided to target some winter whiting (trumpeter) in the bay. Knowing they were easy to catch and the fact I had to move a few times to check the boat out, it was a stunning day on the water! Anyway, we managed to bag what we wanted with a few surprise bycatch from my boys along the way! It was great to see the young fella getting stretched on light gear! Cant wait for dinner tonight! Cheers scratchie!!!
  2. Giddy up! Happy birthday to all Fishraider members!
  3. Thanks Dave. I'm might give few of them a go! cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Don't bother mate! Swell will be enough to make a pirate sick! It drops off dramatically on Monday, so my guess is they'll be on then! A mate was out last night and smashed em! He had a few he couldn't stop and dropped an 80 plus model boat side! Ouch! Thanks for the info! cheers scratchie!!!
  5. G'day raiders, Im heading up to Coffs next week with the family for a few days. Normally I tow the boat up and have enough marks to score a few but this time I will be landbased. So im just asking any fellow raiders on some landbased spots, beach or stones to target snapper or Jew or anything else worth targeting! Thanks in advance, cheers scratchie!!!
  6. Well, it's somewhat of a report. Flattiefisher, A little bit more info would be nice! What area? How long? What bait? See where I'm going? Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. I mainly fish sps! But if I'm drifting baits I will use braid but a longer leader and always straight to a hook!
  8. Yep, and I think it's 8 rods in total on any recreational vessel regardless of the number of passengers! Happy to be corrected! As for the snapper, I only ever use 20lb braid and 20lb leader! Seems to work pretty well for me. I have been dusted a few times but I think mostly that was from being lazy and not changing leader! Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. Anyway Sam, without the conjecture of how many rods, nice work on a feed. And yep, Murphy will get you everytime! Maybe upgrade that small one to 12-15lb and you might have a chance! cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Probably best time of year is right now to chase them! Good luck!
  11. Here's an old post that might help you. Type in "swains reef" on this site and heaps of info pops up!
  12. Well your in the right area because these thing are common bycatch when drummer fishing!
  13. Looks a bit to calm water for drummer! They prefer the washes!

  18. Nice work Baz. I'm glad our trip gave you the confidence to get up there yourself. Still pick your days though! It's a beautiful place and I've still got a lot more areas to show you up there. Well done to you and the boy on your catch! Cheers scratchie!!!

  20. Congrats on the flathead. It always pays to listen to someone more experienced than yourself. The proof is in the eating! cheers scratchie!!! p.s I edited the title from falahead to flathead (thought we'd found a new species)
  21. Mother in law fish! Not really good to eat so you give it to her!
  22. That's great simple advice BN! That combination of rod, reel and line should suit most applications and will get you started. Most dedicated fishos on here would confuse you with the array of choices on offer! cheers scratchie!!!
  23. Old post guys! Size limits are set by the dpi and change from time to time! Just make sure your up to date with current size and bag limits! lets leave it there! cheers scratchie!!!
