  1. Hey Jon, Never been there myself but there's a bit of info on this site. Not sure how current that info is. It should be a lot warmer there that time of the year than down this way! Cheers scratchie!!!
  2. Lol.......you can if you want BN but they won't back up on a fish for you!
  3. Welcome to Fishraider Xavier! Try using the search function on this site for possible spots in your area. A lot of information is right at your finger tips! cheers scratchie!!!
  4. It's all good FAB! Ive learnt a lot from all this! I'm now motivated to get the show on the road! Thanks for all your input! Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. No good! But I wouldn't have even known where to start if it wasn't for this post! The trouble I have is that my boat has a well and after manufacturing they have dropped the motor down one hole. This now doesn't allow enough play to remove the cable. The whole motor needs to be removed, so off to the mechanics she goes! $$$$ ouch! Time for some much needed love anyway! She's been a great boat to me and deserves some attention! Should be ready for snapper season! Cheers scratchie!!!
  6. I think raiders Blaxland and rick are spot on! Half hitching the tail near the eyelet on single hooks are an effective way to maintain bait presentation! This also helps fishing from a boat when there is a strong tidal flow. (Eg Hawkesbury) I use this method often and it also works on other baits such as prawns, squid strips, strip baits etc and stops them from bunching on the hook! I also find that salted vs unsalted is a day to day thing like using different coloured sps! One day it works next day its the other one! Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Nice one mate! Some decent ones there! The young fella looks happy, that's the main thing! Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Nice catch papa! The beaches are certainly productive this time of year! Where abouts on the mid north coast were you fishing? Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. It sure does help FAB! I'm giving it a crack today!
  10. As there is not a lot known about hairtail, Ive read they believe in the warmer months they head for the deep water offshore and venture back as the water cools. So not surprising to catch them in all depths of water especially out front of the Hawkesbury!! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. I grew up as a kid next to that creek and spent many a day building cubby houses and exploring the area. It was a long time ago though (35years) In the skinny water between the bridge at Windsor rd and up towards the housing commission area we caught many of carp and eels. As BN said, a worm under a float or same method with some bread would be your best option! It's not a real productive creek though. We spent days trying just to catch a single fish! Good luck! cheers scratchie!!!
  12. How did you go Rick? It's actually been pretty quiet from all reports! Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Awesome fish mate! Looks a nice healthy specimen too! Congrats on cracking the meter! Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. Thanks for the info on this thread raiders! I'm about to replace my steering cable too! cheers scratchie!!! P.s good luck with it Geoff
  15. Awesome report phil. It's definitely on my "must do list". And when I do, I'll hit you up for some info! cheers scratchie!!!
  16. Well done TTB. Anytime is a good time to go fishing! I caught my first ever Jew there and it was smaller than a whiting! Lol. Your first is legal so congrats mate! Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Travelling at night or in low light hours is the same as going offshore for the first time, it's all about confidence. As others have said, take it easy, slow down and know the area! Especially trying to navigate bar crossing, headlands etc in the dark can be somewhat dangerous. Have all the safety requirements and please wear a life jacket! It's also a good idea to have a rough knowledge of the conditions expected. First light, is the best time to catch snapper imo but don't risk yourself trying to get there! Cheers scratchie!!!
  18. I recognise that spot! Nice work guys. Looking like a nice day on the water! Probably not as cold as the usual social. Hope you land monster! Cheers scratchie!!!
  19. Haha, I'm all good. If I need to measure it, it's going back!

  21. Ouch!!! Oh well, at least you were out and about giving it a go! Fresh water fishing is certainly different to the salt. A lot more patience needed! You'll get em next time! Cheers scratchie!!!
