  7. That is the best post ever on barometric readings. And the late Byron is pretty spot on. It cleared up a few explanations for me! Great link Ryder. Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Both mate! But the trumpeter atm are of really good size too.
  9. Cheers steve. They really appreciated the whole journey from catch to table. Beautiful eating fish!
  10. There's been a few caught. Just haven't had the time to go target them. I will do over the next few weeks.
  11. G'day raiders, Just a quick report from port over the past week. There has been plenty of whiting on the chew and I managed to take the relos out for a day and we bagged 40 in about 3hrs. The flatties have been hard to come by atm but we managed a few. A mate and fellow raider headed out wide with a break in the strong North Easters we've been having and scored a cracking dolly at the fad. The water out there was 23.8. I got out this morning with the bro in law and the weather was nowhere near as predicted and we were nearly blown off the water. We still landed a few bonito and tailor on the troll with a few pan sized snapper in the mix. The water at the heads was 21.7. Plenty of bait around and it's great to see the bonnies turn up. I had a solid king follow my livey on the wind in but no hook up. Squid are plentiful in all the usual areas and are pretty hard to miss. Enjoy your holidays and stay safe! Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. Thought my wifi was playing up! I'm not going mad, thanks!
  13. It's in the past now.......last night Port Stephens style! There's something special about sitting on a beach with your feet in the sand or water on a gorgeous night watching the fireworks! And the crackers were pretty good too! Lol Happy new year! Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. All the marks you need are right here!!!! http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=70826#entry535913 Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. It wasn't a problem at all from Darwin. Your operator should be able to pack it for you. It must be in a waterproof box of some sort and you can check it in at any domestic airport. They have a special area for seafood. Don't forget your luggage limit though. I basic took all my luggage as carry on and checked in 19.9kgs of the finest on the way home! No extra charges
  16. Looking at the weather, it may be a little sloppy tomorrow. Willy weather has it at 10knot s/e with a 1.98m swell @7am. The only good news is that it seems to improve throughout the day. Just gauge how comfortable you feel when you round the heads. A good measure for wind is 1knot for every foot your boat is. That's roughly what I work off. Hope that helps! Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Why am I up so early??? That's right, Santa can last night. Lucky we left him a beer! Merry Xmas everyone!!! Cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Firstly, welcome to Fishraider! If you type in the search function what you are looking for, there is already a wealth if info in there. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?app=core&module=search&section=search&do=search&fromsearch=1 Of course other raiders might add some tips for you. Good luck Cheers scratchie!!!
  19. Trolling speed for skirts or bibbed lures is between 6-8knots. Vary the length of the lines you put out. Say one 30m and one 40m to avoid tangles. For your first time only use 2. Adjust the drag setting once you are at speed. They're pretty much the basics. Sit back and enjoy! Cheers scratchie!!!
  20. Unless they're a Fishraider of course!
