  1. Great stuff there mate! Good to see you managed a few! That jigging is certainly hardwork. You should have tried closer at the peak. It's a little less jigging Cheers scratchie!!!
  2. Seen your post Gerry and I got all excited. I read it, felt deflated and then I remembered that I just got a new job and became devastated! Can't wait until you come to port mate! Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Good luck champ! Hope you get to use that flying gaff again! Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Welcome golf fish and good to see you step out of the shadows and join the fishraider community! Look forward to your posts. Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Awesome stuff Pete and thanks for the report! Good luck over the next few days! Cheers scratchie!!!
  6. The well known brands are just that for a reason. They last longer, don't malfunction as much and are designed to cast and reel better. They also provide the drag required in difficult situations. Having said that, I've caught some good fish on cheap gear but prefer to use more reputable brands as I use my gear often. Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Hey meg, Definately think they're pulling your leg with that one. As far as I'm aware, the same rules apply to them as you. They just have a licence to sell their catch. Good effort any way and yes jigging at that depth is hard work. My arms are still sore from Tuesdays effort! Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Pm's on charters only please
  9. Good on ya Oziodin! Thanks for the info while we were out there and good luck on the weekend!
  10. I have the same boat only a bit smaller. I wouldn't take it to browns. The conditions can vary too much. But I always err on the side of caution. A good saying: know your boat, know your limits! If you are asking whether you go or not, you've probably already answered your own question!
  11. Great advise boattart. We were out at browns on Tuesday with some pretty small boats and based on the forecast it should have been fine but the actual weather/wind would have seen a few of them struggling making the trip back! Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. Welcome the both of you to FR. I hope you find what your looking on this forum and look to forward to your successful posts! Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. No, I said if tying it direct to the jig I use a loop knot. I have to cut it off to change jigs. A spiral decoy acts as a loop knot and allows you to change jigs easily! However I have done what you've said and found it works too! No problem!
  14. Thanks guys, it was another great day on the water. Never caught a gemmie before so that's another to tick off the list. And yes Rod I can see the similarities too! Lol
  15. G'day raiders, I made the trek down to Sydney yesterday with my young fella for his first gamefishing experience on board "anyfin". Fellow raider Witha joined Gerry, john and myself for his first experience too! We had a plan of hitting 12mile, then to browns and then off for a troll for the arvo. So we hit the 12 mile early with jigs at the ready and the sea was kinda sloppy. It was the first time jigging at this depth for jnr and witha and I'd only done it a couple of times. Well, there were fish there, Gerry hooked but lost one and between me and jnr I think we owe Gerry a few jigs! Witha was like a machine and kept at it the whole time but unfortunately we came up empty after our 4 drifts. Bloody hardwork that was. Then we headed off to browns and we greeted by a stack of boats. Knowing there was a few raiders I thought I'd put a call out to see what's happening and was greeted by fellow raider Oziodin who outlined a drift for us and put us straight onto the fish. Cheers mate!!! First drop of the electric and we're on, nice and managed to get it in before we were completely sharked. After jigging for that time and the depths of browns we were so appreciative of that electric reel. We caught 3 in 3 drops thanks to some fresh PS squid and decided after losing 3 weights a one rig that it was time to leave. We began the troll towards heatons about 12 and the wind was not as predicted(funny that) and it made for some pretty sloppy seas. Really warm water at 19.8 and no bait or birds to be seen wasn't looking good for the fin. We worked until the tide change then pulled our lures with out turning reel. Didn't hear of any other boats hooking up either. So we headed off for home with a nice cold beer and at least a feed for our efforts. Overall, it was a gem day on the water, always learning and enjoying! It was great to meet up with Witha and take my boy on his first big boat experience. Thanks to Gerry as always and john for driving in a sweet ride! Thanks for reading, Cheers scratchie!!!
  16. We head from pittwater, straight to the fish!
  17. Hey Dylan, yeah mate I remember, your mate got the nice one and I got squat!!! I'll be on anyfin or just call out for scratchie. Happy to share intel!!!
  18. We'll find them. I'm always confident. It's a shame there's no other raider wanting to take a spot!
  19. Oh course I would..... But nice to know you've got one on the deck before you leave the dock!!! Sure you not coming tomorrow? Still a spot left!
  20. Haha, sorry but that is funny!!! Have your launching skills improved??? This is really bad but during tourist season up here, especially if there's a westerly wind blowing. We go down to little beach, sit back and have a few beers and watch the novices try and retrieve their boats. Some of the best evening entertainment you'll ever see! And free! But if you are up here having the same trouble, yell out fishraider and I'll come and help! Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. That is unreal. What a saving in petrol. Wish it was that easy! Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Great work on the crocs Trung!!! But boys, can you please think family friendly website! Cheers scratchie!!!
