  1. It would certainly be better fishing! Maybe you could launch it at parsley bay and try heading up mooney creek! But there is a lot of boat traffic in the hawkesbo! Or possibly Apple tree bay and work Cowan creek. To be honest I always travel those areas in a boat not a yak but I see plenty of yakers in those areas!
  2. Nice whiting grant! I don't find pittwater that productive. I know there can be a few kings around there but never really find much else except small squire! At least you got out! ?
  3. That's gold Harry! Printed!
  4. There were heaps of flathead about around patonga and hungry bay!
  5. Got a few flathead, heaps of squid! There out live now! Just waiting for that big jewy!
  6. I'm out in the hawkesbo tonight! Are you going out?Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. If it was you stewy, I'm sure you would have had the rod in your mouth!
  8. They are obviously a school fish and travel in numbers. Especially during tide changes when they tend to pack a little more! A jewfish of any size will emit odour. The more fish, the stronger the scent.
  9. Even when you don't work 24/7, I hate wasting time catching bait fish. Some people love it but the highlight for me is the fish that eats them. They should bring out a 12 hook rig! That would cut my bait collecting time from 20 to 10mins! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Great report witha and well done on your fish. It is very rewarding when you get the hang of SP's. My heaviest line is 10lb fireline and I've stopped a few big fish on it and it's fine for lb and yak fishing. Keep at it mate! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Lol......see what i mean! Most creatures expel odour. But you can't step on a jewfish!
  12. That is a great effort and a decent fish for your first on a lure! I'm sure the fight would have been very satisfying. Well done! ??? Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. I might be out there on Saturday depending on commitments but will be trying my best. Will probably target patonga, hungry bay and the usual haunts on tide changes! Good luck and will let you know if I go! Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. No, I think you've taken it the wrong way! I will try describe it for you...,.. The reason they call juvenile fish soapies, is the smell they expell when brought to the surface. Their skin becomes slimey and there is a distinct odour that smells like soap. Try catching one and you will know what I'm talking about. Jewfish also excrete this smell into their faeces and it will fall to the bottom of the ocean, this will attract beach worms and the fish will pounce on their presence. There's a lot to learn about jewfish! Probably why they are a prized catch! Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. Yes seriously, as paikea said, it is a smell that once you experience it, you'll remember it. As for describing........ Hmmm, you try describe the smell of a tomato?
  16. Yes paikea! I can smell them too! A few of my fishing mates think I'm nuts but I can tell when they are there! It does depend on conditions and it is usually in a light breeze that I can tell. Cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Great work Ian! I know you said not the biggest fish but you had a plan and stuck to your guns. And most of all, you were successful. It's great watching a lure get smashed no matter what the size of the fish. Nothing better after a week at work than walking around casting lures, it's a great way to de-stress! Tight lines, Cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Wow Roberta! Now that's bass fishing! That looks like an awesome day out and your report made me feel like I was there! There's definitely some luck involved with bass fishing but you I've think you've cracked the code! Bad luck on the rod though. Cheers scratchie!!!
  19. To be honest, I think diesel kept that fish from his last trip and put it back on the line when I wasn't watching! ????There is no way in this world he could catch 2 fish in 2 outings! I'm not a big fan of the freshwater but it definitely helps improve your casting. My hats off to the freshwater guys that bag a few, it certainly takes dedication and patience!
  20. That's a great result. It's the reason we all go fishing. You just never know what's going to turn up. I hope your mate shared that kingy with you! Keep at it and great report! Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. Well done mate! Very nice flathead there. And I agree, be very careful with size limits! Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. You da man aero.guard! They are cracking specimens! You love your George's! Cheers scratchie!!!
