All I can say is “good luck”.
I fished it last Friday and still couldn’t find the buggers. Found a solid patch of kings though. We caught about 20. Mostly rats but a few keepers up to 75cm.
The slimies are starting to return so hopefully the fish come with it!
Let me know how you go!

Hey Vara,
Its a beautiful place to visit but the fishing has been a bit slow of late!
The bay has started to see some good flatties turn up in the lower half of the bay. And a few Jew caught around the soldiers point area. Tomorrow looks good to fish but the wind from Wednesday to Friday looks a bit challenging.
Offshore, most of the fish have been caught on the deeper reefs between 30-60m. The bait is starting to show up so there should be a few fish turning up with it.
Hope that helps,Cheers scratchie!!!

If you fish the shallow reef you will catch sweep , nannygai and rubbish fish …
Wow how times have changed! Or is it just the revolution of new gear and equipment? But one thing is for sure, the old methods still work!

Not so much in 10m of water! 🤔

Well if your struggling Yowie, then everyone will be. I haven’t even bothered fishing of late except a session with the kids in the bay that yielded a feed of trumpeter and a few flatty!
Gotta pick up soon!

Aww mate! It must have been a big relief to finally get up there. Looks like a fantastic trip and plenty of fish caught. A totally different fishing environment up there. Love it!!!

Haha, the title sucked me in there JonD. 🤣🤣 I didn’t read the “NOT” part and I was thinking firstly, where the bloody hell did you find the snapper up here 🤔 and secondly, why didn’t you let me know your about! 🤣🤣
Well done on finding some. They are fairly scarce at the moment. But find the bait, find the fish!
Glad you finally found a feed of snapper though!

Awww, great write up Donna. It was so good to see you and Stewy as it has been way to long! Time always seems to slip away and looking at some of those photos, so does age! (Except for Stewy who’s still 16 lol 😝)
You both really seem to be enjoying retirement and travelling with your awesome caravan has inspired Jody and I for our latter years.
Hopefully, things will return to normal soon and we can have that “meet up” and you’ll be back up this way before you know it!

Yeah Jeff it was a tough day but I really want to thank you for taking the time out to show me your spots and the awesome waterway we are lucky to have in this country.
There is always another day to fish and the experience has made me keener than ever to tackle the amazing fishing grounds around Port Stephens.
Cheers mate I will be back soon.

Thanks Skipper! It’s a beautiful place and even better when the fish are on! See you again soon!

Got to love how you & some well respected fishos come up with some great theories & then they end up being excuses, yet it all makes sense.
Seems to have been generally lean along most of the coast with a few fishy periods throughout this winterGood on you for getting out with so many raiders & sharing
Great read 👍Oh Dieter, I’ve got some of the best excuses ever. Lol 😝 But not catching many fish in 8 weeks there’s definitely something wrong 🤔
