  1. One would say the roosters are genuine contenders to take it this year...Spanking for the dogs, roosters 38-0Fishingphase

Agree.... The dogs have certainly lost their bite!

    Cheers scratchie!

  2. You didn't catch one over there with a rod hanging out its mouth did you??? I lost one the other day and it was last seen heading towards NZ at a rate of knots!! Nice fish there, we can only dream!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  3. If that was me, I would have broken the kayak speed record! You gotta laugh at the mixed emotions this guy displays about the ordeal.

Oh no, oh yes, woot woot and then the realisation that this shark is still around! Very entertaining!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  4. Nice tat mate, you'll definitely have a reason to call yourself scratchie...

    Fishingphase

Hey fishingphase!! Will let you all in on a little secret, the reason my alias and boat is named scratchie is because it was the first thing I bought after winning 100k on a $5 scratchie!!!

Well what else would you do with it!!!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  5. Nice one mate .. Go get them I think the Bay is a much better bet than down here of Sydney this weekend!!!

Can't wait. The weather better stay as predicted. Referring to your post yesterday, there is no cure mate!! I sometimes hear that reel screaming off in my sleep and wake up to find I'm dreaming!!! Oh the disappointment. But only being 12 mins from the boat ramp is some consolation. My wife also understands, when I've gotta go, I've gotta go. Otherwise I'm one angry husband. You will learn to live with it like people get use to warts! But warts don't cost the same. But two things I live by which help me justify my fishing time are..... Life is short, and your dead a long time! So just get out there and fish your heart out!

I also intend on tattooing a cross for every marlin I catch!!! That's life!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  6. After seeing the post by yarraone, it was time to fulfill my destiny. I have always said to my family that the day I catch a marlin on my boat, with my rods, I will get a tattoo of one!

Well that day has come and I'm a man of my word. Even my kids that were on board that day said touch the leader dad, then you've gotta get tattoo! So here it is....

And yes they hurt. But not as much as trolling for 8hrs without turning a reel.

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  7. Let us know what the fishing's like when you get there!!

Me too! It's a fair way n/e of broughton but I know in oct-dec that kings are plenty in that area and the amount of boats there resembles a marina. But I'm not sure what's there this time of year!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  8. Nice effort on the jewy and congrats on it been your first! Your persistence has paid off. Fresh bait is certainly the key to catching jewys!

They can be sensitive to release as they put a lot of their effort into the fight. This is why they generally come into the boat belly up in my experience. Smaller ones usually return to the water ok, but they will put the school off when released. As for the chewed yakka, it could be soapies (smaller Jew) or small tailor about. That size Jew should taste nice on the plate anyway!!!

    Cheers scratchie!!!

  9. Well done scrathie, have ever tried onito sashimi? Taste great

Hey groper! Nah never tried sashimi from bonito!

I have kingfish, salmon and yft. Just not a big fan of bonito. But they make great bait. I always pick up 5 or 6 at the end of each trip.

    Cheers scratchie!
