I bought some this week. Found them in the bargain bin. Maybe that says how good they are?

Not sure how I'll be rigging them

That says exactly how good they are! As per comment above, I tried them on a few trips for only one taker. That was drifting behind me. Might be ok on a paternoster rig fishing deep. 🤔

Ahh, I see... one of those reports where the location is sort of! 😂 Corlette, Shoal Bay, near enough! 😂 A bit like some of the tackle shop reports, e.g. “Dooley had a good session on the luderick at Cemetery Point”. 😂😂

    A great effort anyway. 😎

Nah Baz, he actually says in his report......

“Found a little spot down corlette and first cast very unexpectedly landed a very nice 50 - 60cm flatty! “

  3. I just watch him do it. Amazing actually! I didn’t realise there was that many portions to a fish! Don’t think you’ll see me doing that at the cleaning tables though 😬😬

  5. For me, I cut it into sizeable chunks! I do remove the chrome as much as possible. Then I pan fry it after a light flour. Then I make an Asian sauce of soy, ginger, oyster sauce, fish sauce, red onion, shallots, sweet chilli and a touch of garlic. Once the fish is cooked I add the sauce to the pan, just to heat it only. Then serve!
Doesn't taste to bad. Haven’t tried them any other way!
Yes there are plenty of bones, back bone an lateral bones but you can pick through them without too much fuss!

  6. That’s a great report! You couldn’t have landed on my hair tail spot any better! Lol 😂

Yes, the many nights spent there at the social has had many highlights for me too! In fact, it’s probably the reason I give so much back to the fishraider community. The generosity and appreciation that you guys showed to all the raiders that turned up was exemplary, especially towards me and my family! Nothing was ever a problem. Even letting me sleep on the top of the mothership and the hot coffee every morning! Oh, what great memories!

Some other highlights for me, from the hair tail social over the years.

Taking Nbdshroom out on a boat for the first time.
That night absolutely poling them in that exact spot and ringing swordie and saying we needed more pillies they’re on. He zoomed around and tied off to us and for the next two hours we killed it. (My jaw still hurts from the laughter)

Another spending the weekend with Jewstalker and leaving at 4am to meet another raider in Pittwater and go catch a 50kg plus YFT then comeback and chase hair tail, then run out of petrol.

Yet another, with two of my kids and one of their friends. We got down there a day earlier and spent 4 nights with 4 people on my little boat. The kids had a ball and were very entertained by stewy all day whilst catching bait. It gave me time to sit and have adult conversation with Donna. I think I had a flat battery weekend too! Lol 😝

Yes Donna, please organise another hairtail social. I will be there will bells on!

    cheers scratchie!!!

  7. Baz, you had a fair crack and that’s the main thing. I knew you’d end up with a wet bum but early morning looked real good. Sorry for bombarding you with texts but I really wanted to see you get a good fish! Sometimes you need to adapt. At least you hooked something decent so that’s a start. The longtail usually frequent that spot on a tide change so you might have just missed out.
I’ll endeavour to get you out there soon for a bit more tuition. We’ll get you a good one on sps, that’s my mission!

We must have a big Fishraider social next year. A real family affair again.
It is so much fun with all the partners,  families and kids.
You sure know that spot 😎

I think so too! You can count team_scratchie in for sure!

I’ll just have to get out and get me some toona myself!

I’d really like to see that Baz. After all, you were invited on this trip!
With this east coast low approaching today is the only day to get I think. It might send the longtail north! 🤔

    Red wine with fish.

Red wine with coco pops! Lol 😂 Just can’t stomach white wine!
Sometimes I think we complicate or try to do too much with fish! Sashimi I just like it simple. Fish and soy! Yum 😋

Snapper etc I like to do with a nice sauce! But everything tastes better after a glass of red 👍👍👍
