  1. Maybe not a fish filled day but none the less sounded exciting. Good work on the Sambo, nothing like a pelagic on light gear I tell you what! Keep the reports coming, I want to hear about these Kingies that have "arrived". IFS
  2. Great stuff! I love poppering now, nothing like watching a fish leap out the water trying to eat your lure IFS
  3. I was using a Bushy's 50mm Popper in Red. Only caught Pike on it but did have one strike from a flattie at my feet IFS
  4. Great score haul guys. Keep up the good squidding! IFS
  5. You can call me PIKEMAN! It was great fun though watching the Pike leaping out of the water to get at the popper ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ as long as I hear that noise I'm happy. That's okay Sharky, you can thank me by handing over those flatties you caught on my lures and we'll call it square Can't wait till next time. Here's one of Sharky with one of his Flatties IFS
  6. Great report as always! Keep them coming IFS
  7. I've caught a 2kg Bonito on 10lb with the small snaps, still using the same one today and doesn't look like breaking or bending anytime soon either. It's rated at 33lb and I have put 8lb of drag onto the snap and it never looked like it would fail. Though if anymore drag was required I'd upgrade to the next size up. IFS

    Squid

I havn't tried it mate, though it sounds like it'd work just as good. I'm pretty sure its just bulls**t from the companies who make the expensive scents but they say they slow release. Go with the Tuna Oil and if it works you aren't out $15 - $20. btw rinse your jigs well, I mean really thoroughly before putting them in your tackle box otherwise IFS
  9. After I first tried them on I thought these are pretty cool. Took them off after five minutes to see the difference. I don't know how I ever fished without them They live in my tackle bag now IFS
  10. I've been in the boat while a mate pulled up a bloody big leather jacket from the bottom of 12 Mile reef with two 4/0 octopus circles in his mouth. Bloody leatheries IFS

    Squid

Try get some scent before you go out mate. Anything that smells fishy works, whether it be Egimax, Stimulate/Ultrabite or the cheapo Prawn scent you get from+_+_) they all work the same for me. But what they all have in common is that when the Squid aren't biting well it improves my catch 100% at least. IFS
  12. Good catch mate, some decent sized leatheries there. You should see the ones that hang out at the 12 Mile IFS
  13. Well mate setting the baitrunner drag is simple. There is a knob that you turn on the bottom of the reel you turn to make it lighter and harder. Depending on what livebait you have as to how heavy the setting. A big Slimie or Yakka you'd want a heavier setting than with Squid or a small livie. Only use just enough to keep the bait from running around out of the strike zone as the less drag the more natural it feels to the fish. I assume you'll be fishing for Jewfish off the beach mate, maybe Sharks too. After the fish has made a run with the bait, start winding and when the preset drag engages it is up to you whether you strike or not and depends on the hooks. You don't strike with circles you just slowly increase the pressure until you reach the preset drag. Set the proper drag with someone holding (or attach the scales to a fence or other solid object) and walk backwards to imitate a fish taking line. Hold the rod at the angle you normally would and give a few shakes to imitate the fishes head shakes. IFS
  14. Well I think after nearly 2 months mate a fish is a fish. How fast was your trolling speed, above 1 knot? IFS
  15. I'd do that mate, give 'em a call just so you know you won't be in the s**t if you get caught fishing there by an authority. Good work anyway on hooking him but tough luck. Better luck next time IFS
  16. Amazing creatures aren't they. They're great to watch when the fishing is slow, but not when they make the fishing slow! IFS

    A Fairy Tale

    Good come back IFS
  19. Exactly what I use mate, I must change lures, jigs, rigs, plastics about 4-5 times a session on each rod so it pays to have some of the snaps if you'll be changing tactics to see what the fish want. IFS
  20. I use the smallest size 1 snaps on both my landbased combo's. It may hinder the action very slightly but it certainly hasn't turned the fish off at all. I use them on everything from 7g metals to unweighted plastics to 13g X-Raps and all swim true. IFS
  21. You'll be suprised how easy it is to tie once someone shows you how. I second the Albright knot, very streamline with minimal resistance through the guides as opposed to a double uni knot. Just make sure you practice the knot at least 5 times before you go and fish with it mate, it can be a bit tricky to start with. IFS
  22. Great work mate, 4 Fin, you gotta be happy with that. It's hard to get out there when the fishing is good IFS
  23. Great work mate, after seeing the 2 Dan's DVD I'm dieing to get up the north coast. Hope I get a few decent fish while I'm up in Cairns in 2 weeks Keep the reports coming. IFS
  24. Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me. We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot, Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho. We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot, Drink up me 'earties, yo ho. We're rascals, scoundrels, villans, and knaves, Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho. We're devils and black sheep, really bad eggs, Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho. "Eeeyarrrr that be cap'n Jack" IFS
