  1. Good info mate, just bought one of those the other day after hearing all the hype. Great work!!! Big Squid like that just make my mouth water. IFS
  2. I totally agree I would never go heavier than I needed to just because I can use the same diameter as I would mono. Takes away the advantage of braid. Plastic work for me = 4,6,8,10lb Then progresses heavier as the need for heavier lines increase. IFS
  3. I would definately go with the Starlo Stix Tournament Pro Mid Spin although it is 3' shorter than you said ab ove. Depending on where you look the rod is 3-6kg aswell as 4-8kg. Personally it feels more like a 4-8kg 7" rod. Carbon fibre so excellent feel and response. Casts a mile! Get it over the internet and you can save $25. IFS
  4. Very nice Jewie mate Good to hear more reports of Sambo's! IFS
  5. Those Fireblood rods and reels are look SWEET! What rating are the rods in the photo? IFS
  6. Nice work mate. Jese that water looks discusting A Marlin! Very nice suprise. IFS
  7. Great bag mate, lovely sized Reds there. Love taking a new boat out for a spin and seeing what it's got. IFS
  8. Why is that mate? I thought that rod looked awsome for my future (not sure how far into the future) Kingfish outfit. IFS
  9. I'll be out LB in the Hacking again on Saturday. I think if I don't go Friday, I'll go Saturday down to the tackle shop and spend some of my Birthday money IFS

    Braid Tests

The thing is mate, the braid goes in saltwater. When the salt dries little sharp salt crystals form on the line. Over time this can cause the braid to lose its strength. The same happens to nylon lines. IFS
  11. Two very nice Snapper there mate, not often you get a double hookup on Snapper that size IFS

    Braid Tests

Braid will definately get worn and lose it's strength after use. This is one of the disadvantages. However, if you look after it (i.e. no knives near it or having it left on the spool with just the leader through the guides when not in use) it should last for a very long time. What rating is your braid breaking at? And was there enough leader material on the rig so that the fish couldn't touch the braid? IFS
  13. A Yakka 25cm+ will take drag on 4lb, it would be fun targetting big Yakka's or the very big 40cm odd Slimies on a Pen Rod with 3lb braid. IFS
  14. Nice to see plenty of Reds being caught IFS
  15. Good work mate, spewing about the YFT! Hopefully we will be blessed with a good run before the season is over IFS
  16. That cuttle will give you quite a few sessions of bait As long as the cuttle hasn't touched fresh water, has no air in the bags and is wrapped in newspaper it can keep for AGES. Good luck on targetting the Kings with them. IFS
  17. I was just about to suggest the same thing Or you can buy Shimano trolling straps. IFS
  18. What an AWSOME site that must have been. Bugger you couldn't have fought it for a while but that doesn't take anything away from the sighting IFS
  19. Good work guys, I was watching some blokes on Sunday trying to get some Trev's but none seemed to be getting any and half of them left in the space of 5 minutes. Those YFT have to make their way down Sydney some time this season surely IFS
  20. Good work mate! Great session, no Stella's overboard this time IFS
  21. That's quite a nice fish, pity when you pull too hard the hooks pull. But when you don't pull enough they bust you off Just the way things go. IFS
  22. Ive caught a Bream once in a cone trap. Just a bit to big to fit between the netting. Under legal so went back to swin another day. IFS
  23. I'm sure I've seen that weed before. Next time I see it I'll report it, that reducing fish stocks party really got to me IFS
  24. They look so cool. I should get one for my computer desk. IFS
  25. The length of the rod does make a bit of a difference in the cast. However I feel that the action of the rod and line test is a lot more important for getting a good cast. Carbon fibre and 4lb - 8lb true braid, not fireline, provides the best cast for SP's. IFS
