  1. Thanks Neil, it was a sunset taken around early spring last year.
  2. Sounds like mania out there! Well done, fantastic report and fish Jeff. Looks like hard yakka out there, definitely a well earned beer.
  3. Too skillful with the jews, you get them pretty much anywhere, anytime. Pity about that bream though, it would have been a stonker.
  4. Thanks Ryder, I'm just happy that lady luck was on my side that day. Even though I was able to tempt the bream, it could have ended in disaster such as getting done in the snags, leader knots fail, pulled hooks etc. In the way Yoda would say it, 'a padawan, I am still', haha Cheers Shakeel, I could feel the force ('force sense' for all those people that have played a few star wars games) guiding me that day.
  5. Well done mate, top fish. You set a good example, good on you.
  6. Cheers Ian but I must thank aero.gard for them. He knows the bay/river like the back of his hand. Cheers Jeff! Haha yep, I did not forget the coffee this time. Cheers DanRob, always a good outing when wetting a line.
  7. Thanks Ian, she sure did put a smile on my face as she thumped and tore line off my reel. I'd stick to fluoro if I were you since it's working wonders - 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. Thanks a lot Jeff, I still can't believe the fish that end up on my line sometimes. I sure get very lucky at times, also thanks for your vote of confidence, but there are heaps of raiders more skilled and knowledgeable than I. Hairtail you say? I had such a blast and I'm keen as mustard. Thanks Ben. Thanks Yowie.
  8. Well done mate, that's a beast of a flatty.
  9. Apologies, but I've been pretty lazy with some of my pics that are strewn across the desktop of my computer. However, had some success on surface back in the summer. Here are some of them, most caught in lower harbour and georges river. It's not too difficult to catch a fish on surface, sometimes it's even easier to chase them off the top water. Areas with shallow water with a bit of ripple are always good. Poppers are easier to use imo. Mono for a leader is not essential but I prefer to use it especially for smaller lures. I'm no expert (so take it for what it is), but just remember to pause and only do enough to keep the fish's attention. Too much and whiting will come up instead (which isn't necessarily a bad thing ) Poppers Surface walkers Also got a very nice bream 40TTT on a minnow plastic. Hop hop.... *tick* and *strike!*.... zzzz...zzzzZZZZ "woohooo" Sorry about the dirt on the fish but I didn't want to muck around with it to ensure it was quickly released. Hope it breeds many more babies.
  10. Quality fish Ian, always a lot of fun, especially bream of that size. You have the technique down pat. There are some good whiting in that area too.
  11. Cheers Ben, looks like those rains have also fired up the harbour.
  12. Well done guys, looks like a lot of fun.
  13. Well done, you must be stoked. There's a lot of variety in SPs, enough to keep it new and interesting. Try more synthetic plastics if tailor and toadies are around. They seem to home in on the food-based variety.
  14. Been out with aero.gard on the Georges recently, and he's been helping me a lot with his guidance. However, I have to say, it seems like the jews hate me. Anyway, did score 2 nice flathead that reached 80, a nice breambo and a soapie that ate a lure (125mm Squidgie Whipbait) as big as he was. The breambo was a nice bicatch and gave me a bigger run for my money than the jew. Seems like the bream still love me, no matter how I fish.
  15. Well done Ben, several quality breambos there.
  16. Well done Luke, that's a top jew bag for a river that hasn't been fishing well for the past few months, plastics-wise. I remember the catch of that jew in the picture vividly. I had just rerigged up and as I readied to cast, you said that we had drifted into a prime spot and to watch you get snagged. You then proceeded to cast into the pocket of fishy water with precision and deft, carefully letting the lure slip into the water without so much as a splash. With heightened alertness, the lure hit the bottom and was instantly worked back toward the boat. It was on the third hop with the lure falling through the water column that the fish hit sending a shockwave up the line. With such a pronounced hit, the backward yank of the rod tip appeared involuntary. The fish was now on, and the rod tip was banging out a specific pattern attuned to the fish. You muttered, 'it's a jew', and then the fish went for a quick run from which the ghost had unseemingly revealed its identity...
  17. Well done Jeff, looks like there was something for everyone in the family.
  18. They look good. I'm sure you can catch a few fish with those babies.
  19. Oh wow those pics are amazing. I used to fascinated by birds when I was younger. Would always read everything about them in books. Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
  20. Well done, keep up the good work. Bream are always a good fish to chase.
  21. Or when you fish with someone who knows what they are doing, as in my case haha
