  1. im not one to date fish but for that id make exceptions. hope it put out
  2. hey Pat, Least you got out mate! beats sitting around with a hangover like i did! did you by any chance know what water temp you had out there? Cheers, Col
  3. i might swing past tye. in areas for having the social, you might be better off with a more open area and something easier to get to? like say woy woy ramp. you have bbq area, plus the club next door for a few beers (for those over 18) and a playground for the kids. plus its easier to get to by car and boat. its a bigger dint on the map. if you're coming over from pittwater via water, make sure ur in a decent boat or make sure the swell is right down. lately there has been some pretty nasty pressure waves through there. plus if i remember correctly its all 4 knots to davistown and it takes aaaaaages to get to through there zzzzzz
  4. is centuries up near norah head? so many reefs have so many diff names :/ heaviest place ive surfed is the zone. was about 8-10ft when i surfed it well bodyboard it. was pretty heavy yeah id be watching box the next few days, when the wind buggers off, if its still raining it will turn glassy and thats when you wanna be there!!!!!
  5. knapers if you're facing lion island from umina beach the left side of it. in certain swells a right hander breaks off it. you can see how it could build when theres a 2m swell around as it sucks up early towards the reef. if you go over it on your sounder you can see an exposed bit of reef that is shallower on the side than most. a couple of my mates a sponsored surfers and they just take things a bit too crazy. the day we were out i was on the ski, was towing them in. it doesnt break like that often, when its breaking box is usually going off as well. we do tow ins off a reef up at forresters beach also. "forries lefts" its right next to a right hand point break named bansai.
  6. farrrk weve actually been out in conditions where we were able to do tow ins off the side of lion island where it was breaking. just 4 guys and a jetski all good fun.

    Tbft

i think its more the point of that because outside fishing you can do well and you dont need to go far and its do-able from a trailerboat, that most people dont travel up there to fish inside there would be fish there, but no one bothers to except the locals. i did however used to catch huge bream off the rocks next to the ramp at soldiers point when i was little. badluck in the comp mate. its a good start to realise how it all works in a comp now you can go back next year with ur experience and with more organisation you will be ready for round 2!!
  8. go to the woy woy baths. right next to the coop. bit of bread to berley up and some dough with a little bit of tuna oil mixed into it. go right to the left of the swimming pool thing. so ur casting towards the restaurant part. good spot for livies
  9. i will fish till probbaly may. then im looking to upgrade my boat so ill be off the water for a bit. then hopefully back up and running around august and out to chase some fin

    Fave Species

have to be yellowfin tuna for me. ive been connected to some huge ones, but they manage to get away. they fight deep and down right dirty. and they are just balls of muscle. marlin comes a very close 2nd
  12. Tim, My mate has one. its a pretty solid boat. Ive fished it from chasing jews in the hawkesbury and weve been out to the shelf 2 or 3 times. The ride is pretty solid and it has a nice wide beam so at rest its very stable. it pretty much covers all angles of what you want to do. apparently the "millenium hull" is the best out of the 3 designs you can choose from.
  13. weather pending i will be wide pulling plastic along.

    New Boat - Trophy

awesome boat mate! and no doubt the price tag was too! damn worth it though. that boat will take everything you throw at it. id be sitting on the shelf in that for sure!
  15. sup tye. bad luck on the kingy mate. sounds like good thing u ditched school. i learnt about bream rodding pelagics on the weekend when a dollie off the fad decided to spool me. i think i said something along the lines of "WE ARE GONNA NEED TO CHASE THIS...." SNAP then i looked at my spool and there was nothing left. damn funny.
  16. solid dollie. i was out wide sat sun but only picked up a 4kg dollie biggest female ive seen in a while. bigger dollies i have come across have been all male nice work
  17. anything above the tld20 is good. i run at tld25 as my 10kg trolling reel. it performed perfectly on a 40+kg yellowfin until the double gave right at the boat. as dan and bashir mentioned daiwa range is good. my 15kg trolling outfits are the sld 30s and i picked up my first marlin on it. after 2 and a half hour fight the reel did not miss a beat. i can say im very happy with these reels.
  18. with all those old wrinkly naked ppl no wonder the fish were off the bite. reminds me of a joke. whats pink and wrinkly and hangs out your pants? YOUR GRAN !

    30 Year Makeover

mate well done. that looks bloody awesome congrats on a good job!
  20. awesome fish good work! gotta love the kings they go damn hard
  21. Joe, After much consideration I have decided to put the project on hold for a while. 2 reasons really. 1. was that i got a decent marlin without too many dramas with my current boat. so i think i might stay with it, although its got a pretty narrow beam and bobs around a bit at rest its awesome trolling etc, loves the rough stuff. its actually and old haines hull converted into a centre cab. 2. I have been working as a contractor and the company i just worked for just offered me a very substantial package to become full time. so if i do upgrade my boat im looking at a 2nd hand 25ft bertram. (nothing like being 22yrs old and in heaps of debt!) Thanks heaps for your time mate, hope i didnt waste it too much.
  22. i had a small bridled dolly smashed by a mako once. but it was all over before it began. good report guys. surely there was something feeding on those cowanyoung underneath? shoulda put one back out a little deeper. nice dolly also. gotta love them, they look good, they taste good and they even put up a bit of a fight!

    Mac Tuna

awesome work guys. they are definetly fun on the light gear. they are awesome live or dead baits for marlin too. biggest one ive seen is around 3kgs would hate to see them bigger, definetly give you a run for your money. looks like a beautiful day out on the water too. lure i use for this sort of stuff is normally a tiny tiny metal slice/jig its like seriously no bigger than a 20 cent piece including the hook. some reason they love them. sounds like the harbour is really turning it on at the moment.
  24. hey joe, thanks for taking the photos! got a hectic weekend so will probably get in contact with you next week and see if we can work out a time i can come and check it out. Thanks mate, Col
  25. welcome to the site mate. started off with a good report. maybe you can teach some of the veterans here how to fish. /me looks at swoffa
