    Sharks

Guys, i am not a Sharks follower but i am a long time Roosters man and we have had the worst year thanks largely to dear old Ricky. I am interested to hear from any Sharks followers about how they think Stuart is going to do any better than Raper. The club board must not have watched any of the Roosters games this year nor noticed where we finished up in the comp.
  2. guys, check the wind forecast first, it appears it may be strong enough to blow a dog off a chain on sunday.
  3. Thats a great fish. Congratulations
  4. i read 1 boat didnt have any lights on. Very sad.

congratulations to you for having the strength of your conviction to move. Wish i had the same level of strength, i should have moved north years ago. Lethargic@harold.com.au

    The Peak

well at least you got out there and you gave it a go. Next time is your time.
  7. It has taken me a couple of days to put this up but here, it is an unbelievabe bad luck story. I got to my boat on 17/9/06 at 0600 at Akuna Bay and thought "hmm it is a little bit foggy but she'll be right" Pushed off and turned into Coal & Candle and thought "it is a little foggy this morning", put the boat up on the plane and thought "cant see a bloody thing, best slow right down". By this time i was in trouble, i couldnt see a metre in front of the boat and i became totally disoriented. I crept up beside the bank and was hoping it would thin out but it didnt. By this time half an hour had gone by and i saw a sign coming up that said "4 km zone", now i know this river like the back of my hand and there is no such sign other than at Akuna Bay. Somehow in my totally disoriented way i had turned 180 degrees and headed back to Akuna. I turned around and tried again, this time watching the compass. The fog didnt clear until 0840 and i was due in at 1030. I got out wide of Lion and drifted for 25 minutes for zilch, turned back in, cleaned the boat and drove home wondering just why i got out of bed so early on a sunday. Cest la vie. Watch that fog, it is scary what can happen
  8. i use Berkley Fireline on 3 or 4 of my rods and i have never had the problem. I cant imagine any braid manufacturer would allow this to happen with their product. Maybe a faulty tip?

    My Last Post

its easy, i have done it 4 times. Hope you both had/have a great day and life together
  10. fantastic report. congrats James on a top fish.
  11. i think i recall the late KP spent $40 million "refurbishing" the Arctic P some years ago. As for GregNormans boat, i know a bit about that, the builders in Perth lost mone on that deal as they entered into a fixed price contract. Apparently he was a tough nut to deal with. I say good luck to them all. I never begrudge the trappings that go with being successful-part of the incentive to do well for us all.
  12. Hi, there are so many good spots in the system, my best advice to you is to refer to the advice Ken has provided via the link on our home page. Also, remember fish love structure so dont just fish somewhere because "it looks good" or others are there. Find the logs, big rocks, reefs, drop offs etc and vary your bait. If you do these things you will catch fish because they are there. Good luck mate. By the way, buy yourself some squidgy soft plastics and some jig heads and try flicking them around the banks etc.
  13. hi nick, we will be out there, mind you we will be in a quiet bay somewhere where there wont be too many fish as we will have our 3 year old with us. Will call Fishraider on channel 96. Good luck

    Fuel Cost

Ross, they have you by the bizzos, what is your choice if you have a non trailerable boat? Cart Jerry cans down to the boat? Thats a lot of Jerry cans. They know they have you and they simply exploit you to the limit of their conceptual capacity.

    Fuel Cost

never have seen premixed at a marina.
  16. "Bye Honey! I'm just taking the boat out. It hasn't been out in weeks! I'm not fishing! I promise!" 5 minutes later... "Oh? What's this? How *convenient*! A fishing rod! And some plastics! We can't let that go to waste!" Happens to me all the time now that is funny, although unfair! Sorry i misspelt Tailor my ignorance is showing.

    Fuel Cost

Filled up today at Akuna Bay and Premium was 1.67 a litre (less 5% discount for the marina customers). Last time i filled up was about 5 weeks ago and it was $1.99, it is going the right way. Any one else filled up on the water lately? If so how much did you pay and where?
  18. maybe it is because they only sell Premium at Akuna Bay, i havent noticed a drop in the performance but i guess i am no rev head, the 225 EFI gets me up and going without any strife so i just coast along at 4200 revs most of the time, thats about 35 knots.
  19. This doesnt really count as a fishing report because i only went out to give the boat a run as it hasnt been used for 5 weeks. As i was roaring up the creek from Akuna Bay, i thought, "ok, its running smoothly, what about i stop over there and flick out an SP for a few minutes?". Well, i guess i was there for no more than 20 minutes and in that time i caught 3 of the largest Tailor i have ever caught. The smallest was 36cm and the largest 60cm. Now along the way i got taken by an absolute monster, i use 40 lb leader on 6lb Fireline and this thing just broke through the leader in lesss than a second, i caught a glimpse of it and it was bigger than the 60cm model. I didnt take a camera and i didnt keep the fish but if you want some fun, head to Coal & Candle, i was on the eastern bank about two thirds of the way out of the creek. I was using the grey Squidgees and it was about 10.30 this morning.
  20. great report, bodes well for the weekend.
  21. seems fine for the areas you will easily be able to walk to. If you walk to the southern end of that great big bridge that looks like a coat hanger you will see lots of people fishing there in the mornings.
  22. well congratulations to you. You did better than me, i was going fishing today but instead had to go to work early. There is always tomorrow.
  23. great story but 4 kms? That dog sure can run, you are lucky they knew your dog.
  24. I am so over this weather that i am going to take a sickie from my own business tomorrow and go out and see if there are any hungry fish in the Bay. If anyones out there call on channel 96.
  25. the only additional advice i can offer is to check the back of the Trade A Boat magazine, they have all sorts of stuff for sale and many marine engineers advertise their services. Might be a waste of time but you just never know.
