I know how you feel. I have been there at night and it was a traffic jam just to fish. Needless to say I just dont go there. There are too many other places to fish. You cant control others but we can do the right thing ourselves and thats the best we can do. On a positive note, leather jacket are good to eat.

I got the ok from the to go fishing. I couldnt get out the door fast enough before she changed her mind. (lots of chores to do) Launched the boat in a westerly wind about 15 20 knots and shot off to barrenjoey headland. the swell was about 8ft and choppy. i sent a whole squid out hoping to test my new braid knott, but it was not to be. Prudence being the better part of valour, after 30 minutes I pulled the pin and took off for calmer waters. I decided on flint and steel, by the time I got there the wind had dropped to zero ( Damn). I pulled up next to an anchored boat and asked them if they were getting any bites and the guy said it was very quiet. So I moved up close to the red marker and drifted back over the weed bed. BANG.... 2 flatties in 10 minutes,44 and 36 cm with a bit of squid for bait. Did 1 last drift and decided to move and it was good enough to try the headland again. As soon as I got over there the wind picked up again.... %&$@# ....just my luck. Trolled back into pittwater with a popper for zip and decided to pull the pin. On the way back I saw bait fish jumping in towlers so out went the popper again, with a slice on the side , just in case. Naaa it just wasnt happening for me. But it was a top day out and it could have been worse, I could have been at work... LOL.

Went out myself to Barrenjoey for zip............ Im jealous... That is 1 great kingie. Right, Im goin' out again tomorrow. I know there is 1 out there for me somewhere.

Try skinning them and shallow fry them whole with a bit of anything you like and bobs your uncle, you will be converted. I buy them, now that is a testimonial. But Im crazy toooooooo!!!!

Thanx for the replies, I will try the albright knott and I will try to just double up the braid and do a uni knott and see how it goes. i will post results.

Thanx Mike, The break is frayed. Can you recomend a quality braid? I have those online guides and I have had no problems with knotts untill I started to use braid. hmmmm I think I will have to start from the beginning and go over everything again....Or... Maybe Im just catching really big fish......

Im running a diawa oceano 4500 with 30lb braid on it and 60lb mono leader, all less than 3 months old. my problem is that my braid keeps breaking. Im doing a uni knot at the swivel and thats where its breaking I think. It doesnt seem to matter how my drag is set, after 2 or 3 runs it breaks. I have lost at least 5 kingies and its doing my head in. Are there specific knotts for braid that I should be using? or has anyone some advice that will help me.

Join the club. Ive been out the last 3 nights in a row for zip. Last night I could only get 1 yakka, When I put it out as a livie a squid killed it in the first 5 minutes and I didnt even get the bloody thing. But...............CANT WAIT FOR TONIGHT. I just hope the understands.

As slinky said there is plenty of action There is morton island, stradbroke islands, jumping pin, gold coast, plenty of reef and wrecks I think you will be spoilt for choise. Only 1 hicup, everyone owns a boat and the ramps can be a nightmare on the weekends
