  1. Well done mate, was tough out there today, still managed a feed
  2. Mate you know how much I love my snapper fishing but sadly I fly to Europe that day. Two weeks of drinking piss and sailing Croatia in their summer. Spewing 👎
  3. More then capable of handing inshore blacks, which will be the main species you will encounter. I think until you actually see a marlin a 50-60 kg fish is still a big fish. I personally prefer mono on my overheads, depending on where/ method you are fishing
  4. Had to work for them today but the fish are there, small vibes accounted for most of the fish with a bigger plastic getting the better fish
  5. With this time of year the fishing everywhere firing its hard to make time with work and wife commitments to get enough time to fish. With a horrible strong wind warning forecast I asked my mate from work if he was interested in a flick down the local. Launched the boat at Gosford at first look and had a look around the deeper parts of Brisbane Waters for an early jew around the tide change for nil luck. Quick move to the flats and we managed to find a variety of fish including Flathead, Bream, whiting and a few legal estuary snapper, all taken on soft vibes. With a feed in the livewell we cracked a coldie and hit another spot I’ve pulled some bigger lizards. Didn’t take my mate long with a bigger 5 inch plastic and he’s calling it for a better fish. Few nice runs and he had his pb of 80cms in the boat. The wind getting up we called it a day to have a couple more coldies at the sailing club. Not a bad few hours throwing lures with three lizards over that 65cm mark boated.
  6. A number of reasons, people tying off at them is certainly a possibility
  7. As long as you leave me some tarwhine on plastics to target I am in 😉😂
  8. I reckon it’s still worth a trip to that 130-160 meter mark for a good crack at a stripe, seems to be a consistent run of them at the moment. Can’t beat fresh dollies though on the tooth well done
  9. I have just returned from Vanuatu and had a few extra days of annual leave up my sleeve before I had to go back to work. Checked the forecast for Monday and Msged Scratchie who was instantly keen for a fish. After a few discussions the plan was to get liveys early, have a quick flick for snapper before chasing the Longtail tht have been showing up. First drift and scratchie was on to a pannie. I think he pulled a rock cod as well. Quick little move to north rock and first drift I had a 55cm red in the boat taken on a 7inch zman. Whilst this was happening there was tonnes of bait everywhere with the distinct barrels of Longtail smashing gar everywhere. Jeff’s livey got whacked, with a short run before he pulled up loose. My livey goes off shortly after and after a spirited fight a bronzie was boat side. We moved down to the Gibber and live baited for a couple of hours for zip. Quick little move and a Jeff saying “I never get reds this side of the reef” and first cast I “whack” another spirited fight I hadmy PB red on plastics of 65cm in the boat. Plenty of missed opportunities but a cracker day, if you ever get the opportunity to fish with Jeff his knowledge is invaluable. Only an hour and a half drive from the coast, it’s a cracking fishery. I would have to say targeting snapper on plastics would now have to be one of my favourite methods of fishing. Woodsy also managed a fed of reds which he handed onto me. Another cracking day up at Port Stephens.
  10. It’s moved, it only got redeployed last week to update gps location
  11. Cracking days fellas, make it look too easy
  12. Definitely been tough fishing for beakies off Sydney, frustrating when you see all the reports of down south absolutely firing too. Still some good water pushing down, may be a short but good run of inshore blacks soon.
  13. Bonito when treated with respect and prepared better makes better sashimi then Kingfish IMO
  14. Pick me pick me? If I wasn’t working a sneaky solitary island mission would be prime...
  15. A day on the water beats any day at work though!!!
  16. Beats any day at work that’s for sure, can’t believe how good those conditions were out there. Haha should have stayed in Sydney the good bite was all down this way, think you have me hooked on the reds for good now though
  17. Yep both Terrigal and Broken Bay fads has had constant water of 20-22 degrees, green and lifeless. I saw a few micro dollies taken from Terrigal during the week so will only be a matter of time. Another southerly blow tomorrow might mean it turns on Sunday hopefully
  18. Good stuff mate, great part of the world
  19. Cracker day gents!!! Only a matter of time before the game fish turn on I reckon!!!
  20. Fish the eddies off to the sides mate out of the flowing water would be my best advice, the Jewys will ambush the fish in here as the bait is flushed past with the current. Least you had a crack, the lizards have definitely slowed I have found recently
  21. After a few tentative inboxes the day arrived when I made the trip up to chase Reds with Jeff (Scratchie) in his home turf. Forecast had been a bit iffy all week with rain and wind thrown in the mix but was confident early it would be manageable. First drift we came up to a rock wall holding bait and as soon as Jeff called it he hooked a small red on the plastic. I think I managed a rock cod and that was it for a few more drifts, bait was every where but couldn’t tempt any more. Moved spots, and the first drift I came up tight on the plastic in the top half of the water column to a better sized red. Managed to get it in the boat and it went 55, so straight in the well. I think Jeff landed another pannie on the same drift. Whilst this was happening Jeff had a live slimey drifting out the back, that got smoked. Cleared the rods, and by the time we could do anything it had bricked him in the reef, had all the tell tale signs of a hoodlum. Jeff showed me another spot where we both pulled a few more pannies, I think we ended the day with seven in the well. Although I didn’t crack a big one it was a great day on the water, if you ever get the opportunity to fish with Jeff he is a guru, his knowledge he passed on to me today will no doubt be put to good use. Sou east blew up and it made it a slow bumpy trip back in across the bay, but regardless it was definately worh the trip up. All fish were caught on a variety of zman plastics fished on 1/4 jigheads.
  22. Keep with it mate, persistence and perseverance and you will crack the code soon enough. If your catching fresh bait your fishing the right areas.
