  1. Nice perch mate, lots around the bridges this time of year, can not beat the surface boofs
  2. I generally fish fairly light for them I run one rod with 12lb braid, 10,12 and 16lb fluoro leaders, other set up 15lb braid and leaders from 15-30lb leaders depending on time and structure. In a boat with the minn kota can get away with chasing them and positioning boat so on top of fish
  3. Freeway Bridge mate but we got them at both. Fish the tides!!!
  4. With a little bit of annual leave I thought I would head down the mighty Hawkesbury and target mulloway in lures. My mate and I fished in icy conditions and while we managed the target species they were all small, with one good fish lost to some tight structure. Lures used were 4 and five Inch paddle tails, mainly looked for bait and the small Jew were not too far behind. Have fished the Hawkes a handful of times and I must admit it is quiet the challenge.
  5. Have to be in it to win it, seeing some solid barrels on social media. Hope the run makes it to the Central coast
  6. Good bite of Tuna today mate, heard a few boats scored and even left them biting
  7. I work night shift the night before mate but I will be there ?
  8. Haha shift worker mate, was on night shift last night so need to sleep during the day
  9. Sounds good mate, if I am not working I’m in
  10. The scent definately gets a bite when the fish are shut down though, I find smaller blades work too when things are quiet
  11. Yep, just as you head around the rocks.
  12. With the predicted forecast and a strong wind warning I only had a small opportunity this morning before the sun came up to target some squid, wasn’t putting the boat in today. Took a handful of jigs, the Bream rod and 10lb leader and found the squid were on, as soon as the sun came up they were gone and the wind started ripping through. Managed to land four good sized eating ones, squid cleaned and I was back in bed by 8 am.
  13. Nice Flathead mate, I used to fish 6lb leader for them but after losing a few good fish have upped to 10lb which definately does not put them off
  14. Yeah mate definately if a tide change coincides with either dusk or dawn, fine the bait and the fish are generally not to far away.
  15. Good time to be chasing Jewys on lures, have to put in the time and effort but the rewards are definately there
  16. Thanks mate, you can see I only just pinned it in the top lip, plenty of times I have either missed them or pulled hooks.
  17. Good stuff mate the bream on light gear is awesome fun.
  18. Haha mate I generally get six days off after my block of shifts so fish as much as I can, I love chasing fish just as much in the estuaries as I do heading offshore. I fish solo a lot so am more comfortable fishing Brizzy Waters to be honest. I still head out on my own on a good day, I find catching Jew on lures the most rewarding but challenging species to target
  19. G’day mate my jigheads vary from 3/8, up to an ounce in certain conditions, majority of the time I fish a 1/2 ounce. I usually fish in depths of 6-15 meters, I generally keep it fairly simple just single hops along the bottom. 95% of hits come as the lures sinking back to the bottom, always need to maintain contact with your lure, few little hints when you give the lure the hop follow it back to the bottom by slowly dropping your rod tip towards the water as the lure sinks, strike at the faintest of touches, and cover as much water as you can. I generally find in the deeper water you won’t get as many Flathead but the ones you do get are always solid. If you wanna practice your techniques I’d fish shallower depths with the smaller swimmerz and lighted jig head say 1/4 and target lizards specifically. They will happily hit lures and gets you practice as to striking at the right time etc.
  20. G’day all, had a very small window to fish a tide change in a well known location in Brisbane Waters and marked some good fish on the sounder. Managed a nice soapie on a 4inch zman swimmerz in Pearl White my pretty much go to lure at the moment. Have had a couple of sessions now with not a fish boated but that is fishing for Jew on lures very frustrating, good to get that smell on the boat. Hearing good reports out of the Hawkes so I hope it’s a better few months then this time last year.
  21. Good report mate, I’ve found the same lately plenty of bait, the mulloway are few and far between but are there with some effort.
  22. Did better then me today I fished the change this arvo for a big fat donut, lots of bait
  23. Can’t beat a feed of Flathead tails, my favourite fish to eat.
  24. Good stuff mate didn’t bump into any jewies?
