  1. yes. more turns 18-20 and once you lock off the knot with the half hitches make sure you pull hard on the main line and leader to make the braid bite into the leader. The braid should go translucent.
  2. at least you're getting some exercise!!!
  3. Well done. You never forget you first fish on SP, my first was at Bray park and I've been hooked since. cheers richard
  4. I use zman (I think Squidies Biotough are similar) because of the material they far outlast other SPs. I've never lost a tail due to leather jackets or tailor. I reckon I'd catch about 10-15 fish before I needed to change the lure. Obviously longer lasting lures produce less pollution. Also means less time wasted re rigging SP I always but my used SPs in the bin.
  5. They ae great jigs. Usually retail for about 4 x that
  6. That's so awesome!! To say I'm jealous is a gross understatement.
  7. Great report! With the flathead you lost, are you striking when you feel the hit?
  8. Good on you Derek. If you had a dollar for every fisho you’ve mentored….. You truly are a pillar of the Fishraider community! Ryan you have the best possible start to fishing in Sydney
  9. I usually hop off the bottom when chasing bream, same as flathead, but I use a much lighter jighead. Usually about 1/16 th oz. Also before I choose a spot I usually check the wind forecast coz using light weights i prefer to fish with wind behind me
  10. I’ve never found Banjo P to be that great but other fishos like you seem to do well there. I think what Yowie said is 100% true, it should pick up as the weather warms up. I find around Rodd pt fishes quite well that’s a little lower down the river, but gotta be careful not to hook a jogger around there.
  11. Not having caught a bream in my last few outings I’d begun to think maybe they had become extinct in the Parramatta river. All those videos online must have predated this extinction. Well the day started with a good omen. I bumped into DerekD, yet again imparting his knowledge to another pupil. But then the wind picked up and had me casting into it so I moved down to Glades bay. A few casts in hooked into a nice little flattie. There was a soccer game going on their ball when into the water so out came the trusty net second catch of the day. Kept on casting, got a big hit and a big fight that all of a sudden stopped but the fish was still on so I thought, another flattie. Then there was a characteristic flash of silver and the fight resumed. i can categorically state that bream have returned to the Parramatta river!! Thanks for reading Richard
  12. i like using prerigs when drifting offshore. I just attach at swivel to the top of each one, then uni knot to main line if needed
  13. This is how I keep my net. Just a simple carabiner. I’ve also put a 4oz sinker inside the handle so it’s less prone to fall out when walking around especially when climbing among rocks
  14. Well done on the flatty. I'd suggest a net with an extendable handle, this is the one i use https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/314039100444?hash=item491e30641c:g:BaIAAOSwMIhirEk4&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA4HGXr4vHPhZfzWV2SBGu2hpsxisDEow9rz1P%2Bc4CvtYeRki05F%2Bcg6NTidPwP35JaB4%2BfwhOxD%2B3QXLSkEIhyTLdkVD3PBxLSz0lNPSGEOC7RDhx77ZwzgP49f7CRz7Tj6dRs8rb%2Bth3CeB0Ro%2Fu4bLld7BWbhfhLs8GsBYeo4mZy1ivOd8eHG6ZKIfk0g5p9L5LOrBQ7wRgHzRv6naZ352l5iXH36z2MKsuqjS5BGqb5DFIMFc8TgwMmoceKveMrylKmeNSSAoHUvh0K%2FN0PF6qLyboeFH1I7GhrbQgkuE%2B|tkp%3ABFBM5IzozMlg
  15. I consulted bream/flathead guru shroom before I bought my new rod, he recommended the arrowz and the td black
  16. That's a great trev. Must've been a great fight!
  17. Was good to meet you the other morning Mike. Nice bream there, always great to break the dreaded donuts I know it was a short sesh but did you feel the extra stretch in the straight through FC made it harder to set your plastic and did you think it made it harder to detect hits both because of the stretch and lower visibility compared to braid? I'm interested to know as these are the reasons I've never tried straight through
  18. I just got a TD Black Sugapop. The lightness is great. Currently on sale at a Drummoyne tackle shop
  19. Hey GH, Do you always add a swivel to your Halco Twisties?? Cheers Richard
  20. Derek when isn’t there a shopping list for the future??
  21. I got hold of this handline thingo that I’ve found great for sabikis. After you’ve finished using it you just fold in the hooks and fold down the flap. It contains all the hooks. Just have to give it a rinse when you get home
