  1. Fantastic report as always Mark. Out of curiosity, what technique/flies were used to catch the snapper? Cheers Hodgey
  2. Magnificent fish mate. Congrats on the new record as well! Cheers Hodgey
  3. to those raiders celebrating today. A special acknowledgement to the old fella who keeps me on the straight and narrow and provides excellent net service! Catch up with you tonight, Deno! Cheers Skip
  4. Nice one John. Great photos too! Got my first bream for the season on a sammy yesterday. It seems the water temp is FINALLY heating up! Cheers Skip
  5. You can see why people make the comparison to NZ kingies ... they're monsters! Congrats to all on an incredible session! Cheers Hodgey
  6. Thanks Windy. I have heard many good reports about the Canberra lakes and as it is only 2 hours from my place I'm happy to travel for a look. Fished the Murray for 20 years from the bank so I am happy to walk for my fish as well. Cheers Hodgey
  7. to all those Raiders celebrating today. (Have a great night, son.) Cheers Hodgey
  8. After a prolonged and very close tussle between a couple of hot favourites, the Fish of the Year has been won by SILVO with his Broadbilled Swordfish Congratulations Silvo! We will be in contact shortly regarding your prize. Thank you to our sponsors, Pure Fishing, and to all those members who submitted some terrific fish for consideration every month. Regards Fishraider Adminstration and Moderator Team
  9. Brendon and Greg. Hope you both have a terrific day! Cheers Hodgey
  10. Congrats on the two PB's Geoff ... particularly that excellent Silver! Cheers Hodgey
  11. Urgh ... Tuross River is a lovely shade of chocolate now.

  12. Bugger ... pipped at the post again by Tony This would have been my recommendation as well. The Catana outfits usually come on special every year around this time and should fall well into your budget. If you're just kicking off the soft plastic addiction they will be well suited to the task and you can upgrade later on. Cheers HODGEY
  13. It looks like I may have a spare day on Friday or the weekend. Is it a viable option to fish this dam from the bank? Cheers Hodgey
  14. Thanks very much fellas, that's the info I was looking for! Hmmm a fresh feed of reddies and the chance to chase Murray Cod a little closer to home. I will definitely be in touch, twitchie! Cheers Hodgey
  15. G'day Raiders, Hoping someone out there can provide some information about Googong. I believe you require a special permit to fish it and that it is an electric motor dam only? Any specifics regarding permits, motors etc would be appreciated. Cheers Hodgey
  16. All you ever wanted to know and never thought to ask. Excellent work Tony. A lot of questions arise every year about braid and this will go a long way towards answering them. Good on ya mate! Cheers Skip
  17. We have something similar down here that appears every Winter. It sticks to lures and line like snot and makes it impossible to work a lure. We usually find as the water heats up the weed dissipates and then disappears. I'd be interested to know the water temp down there. Cheers Hodgey
  18. Some very nice yellas there Mick and most of them would be prime table-quality fish. Once they up around 50cm I reckon they are too muddy but that's just a personal preference. Great to read the water temp was so high. That should encourage the 'green fish' to come out and play too. I'm heading of to Lake Mulwala in 2 weeks. Jackalls and spinnerbaits are already loaded in the tackle box! Cheers Ian
  19. Coming from the Murray-Darling district, these pests have always become fertilizer and never released. However, before you go sticking them in your garden, here's an interesting alternative. A couple of local fishos have found salted carp fillets to be their #1 bait for some very big snapper. These blokes head inland for a week, catch kill and fillet these mongrel pests and convert them into 'baked snapper'. Cheers Hodgey
  20. I knew from the Day 1 text message that you buggers were going to have a ball and the report confirms my suspicions! Well done fellas. Some very nice bass in that lot, and the 'football' shaped yella is a cracker. I would've handed Coyote my spinnerbait and asked him to work it around the depth of the snag for me while he was there! Don't tell me you didn't take any photos of the Stratos on the water while you were there? See you both when you hit the South Coast next. Cheers Skip
  21. Another superb report Matt. I had a sly grin at your humble comment regarding lure v's fly ... how that must have hurt to type! The scenery, the water clarity; the places that you visit have it all. Great to read about Dean's thumping fish, especially from water so skinny. Always a pleasure to read the reports and view the photos from any of your adventures mate. Cheers Ian
  22. What a great trip! That is a tremendous effort from JJ to stick at it for all that time, and he was justly rewarded with some very nice fish ... and a new furry friend. Well done young fella! That's another little spot to add to my bucket list. Congrats to all on a terrific report. Cheers Skip
  23. Awesome fish on the OarGee mate Cheers Hodgey
  24. What I wouldn't give for a couple of them in my lure collection now. They were the duck's guts back in the day
