  1. measurement has been corrected! Cheers Hodgey
  2. I'm unsure if it is relevant to trout, but I can name a couple of instances that go against that principle. On Sunday I landed a 72cm flathead on a 50mm soft plastic ... and removed a partially-digested 20cm baitbish protruding from it's throat! Several times I have removed carp and redfin from the throat of Murray Cod over the years. Redfin have had distended stomachs which provided to be full of freshwater yabbies, and yet they have hammered a spinnerbait. Whenever this has occurred, I have always considered that fish must hunt with a 'feast-or-famine' attitude. They can't necesarily guarantee their next feed (particularly when their food source is a 'seasonal bait' like cicadas ,etc) so they gorge themselves whenever possible? I'll be interested to hear other Raiders opinions, partcularly regarding the wily old trout! Cheers Hodgey
  3. I have been checked by Fisheries frequently over the years, on both fresh and salt water. I have been checked on Tuross Lake and Wagonga Inlet on 4 occasions over the last 18 months. No complaints from me
  4. This topic has been tidied up ... please be mindful of both Fishraider and Fisheries rules everyone. Please note: The member has clarified the distribution of his catch and the total number currently in his possession by PM. Cheers Hodgey

  9. Thank you for your kind comments everyone. I have gained a lot of information and friendships from the site so it's great to be able to give something back Cheers Hodgey
  10. We seem to have gotten off reasonably lightly this year, Ray. There is a brown water line along the coast but it is clear of debris this time. It has triggered the snapper, with many people bagging out from the beach last weekend when the first of the dirty water hit the sea. It's going to take a couple of weeks before it returns to normal ... provided we don't get too much more rain! Cheers Ian
  11. Some beautiful fish there. What a great way to preserve the nostalgic days. Check out the 'latest' Holdens on the highway Cheers Hodgey

  14. A couple of very nice fish, Dean Great to see some of the old 'tried and tested' lures keeping up with the new stuff. Cheers Hodgey
  15. + 1. Had a play with one of these the other day. Handled surface lures and sp's with ease. A pleasure to use. A Trion will also fit the bill.
  16. Congrats mate I hope it's the first of many! Cheers Hodgey
  17. Roberta ... welcome back! Good luck to you both. Hope you get favourable reports. I'm sure you'll be wandering the roads in your flash vee-dub in no time! Look forward to catching up again soon. Cheers Ian
  18. Congrats on a fantastic effort fellas Wagonga is indeed a tough waterway and the figures you mentioned typify the results for this comp for the last three years. The camaraderie that exists at the end of each day more than makes up for the tough fishing though Mazz told me that jewy was Bruce's first on lure, so it was a special moment for him. He'll be thrilled to see the footage! Hopefully I will catch up with you next time you're down. Cheers Hodgey

  20. G'day Paul, My mate Dene has an annual trip each year chasing the Barra. He uses his Daiwa Sol 3000 and has nothing but praise for the reel. I have some of the reels you mention (Sol, Ci4, and Stradic FJ) and would probably rate them in the order I have written them. Good luck with your purchase mate. I think you'll be happy with any one of the reels you have listed. Cheers Ian
  21. Fantastic fish for the young fella. Great effort! Cheers Hodgey
  22. "CanwegofishingDad?", "CanwegofishingDad?" ... you get the picture Armed with some humble smelly servo prawns, took the kids down to a local haunt to see what they could find. The place has produced some very good fish in the past, but initially it was tough trying to get through the littlies. (not that the kids were complaining) Then Taneka gives out a scream/whimper and is holding on for dear life as a very energetic fish puts an impressive bend in her Catana. A few scary moments while Dad nearly takes a tumble on the rocks and her 62cm trophy is in the net. A new PB! A short while later and Robbie has his hands full of mischief with another energetic fish. Another new PB for him at 54cm. Guess who's being touted as Father of the Year again Hope everyone had a great day on the water. Cheers Hodgey
  23. Good to see you out on the water again Mick. 2 bloody nice yellas there, although they are a token consolation prize after dropping a big green fish He'll be there for you next mate! Cheers Hodgey
  24. I would think that would be fine as it does not alter the length of the fish
  25. This is from the Fisheries: Freshwater You must not alter the length of a fish which is subject to a minimum or maximum size limit whilst you are in on or adjacent to any waters in any manner other than by gutting, gilling and scaling. You cannot remove the head or tail. This means you can cannot fillet your fish or possess filleted fish unless you are well away from the water. This rule does not apply if the fish are being prepared for immediate consumption, are being prepared for immediate use as bait, if the fish are being cleaned at a fish cleaning facility or a fish cleaning table at a boat ramp, or for fish that do not have a legal length. Saltwater You are not permitted to alter the length of a fish or invertebrate by filleting/ shucking and/ or removing the head/ shell until well away from the water. This rule does not apply at areas normally used for cleaning fish such as boat ramp cleaning tables, if the fish are for immediate consumption or immediate use as bait, or for fish that do not have a legal length. You may clean fish by gilling and gutting only. Cheers Hodgey
