  1. Hey guys so I'm thinking of giving the kings a rest for a little bit and start focusing on blackfish. I'll be fishing in the harbour by boat and can buy the weed from my yackle shop but wondering where are some good spots to try out. I've never done it before so it would be all a big learning curve but with the right burely and set up how hard can it be?! Cheers guys
  2. Yep could be over 20 knot could also be 8 knots lol you just don't know. But with a westerly I don't want to know lol. Problem is of your at say 12mile and then the wind picks up and you think might be time to head back in its already blowing a bloody gale closer to land and your heading right into the guts of it.
  3. Hey guys, I know the forecast looks good for this Saturday and I know a lot of people will be going out the peak and 12 for a look but just beware it maybe nice on the way and your thinking 'this is the best weather we have had in ages' but the westerly is meant to be 15knots which coming back in 15-20kms with the wind in your face will be pretty uncomfortable and you will be getting wet. Westerlys are more dangerous than southerlys in my opinion.
  4. Mate that drop off your talking about is not a bad spot at low tide, in assuming your talking about the one where you can stand on the exposed sand bar and you cast towards the houses on the other side of the creek. Patonga is a very tough fishing spot I have I shed it a lot for very little success really, It's justa to shallow I believe to hold any really decent fish. The wharf isn't to bad either, try walking up and down the beach casting plastics for flatties?
  5. Next species I want is hairtail. Might even start thinking about trying for a Jew, haven't ever caught one or tried but how hard can they be!
  6. Pretty average mate I get a better kick releasing the guys rather than eating them, unless you want to use them whole as a shark bait

    Lure sale...

Squid jigs are my fall, needed 2 particular jigs walked out with 13 new yamishitas. I have more lures, squid jigs, knife jigs, trolling skirts (have about 30 skirts all rigged mostly pakulas) poppers, divers, leaders, new spools of braid, last count I had 18 rods and about 15 reels. I have a room in house dedicated to fishing gear. I well and truly have an addiction, a very bad one haha
  9. Guys don't get sucked Into paying $20 for a yamishita there's plenty of tackle shops that sell the entire yamishita range starting from$8 for the suite r. Also have daiwa, shimano, black magic jigs. If intrested me for the names of the shops
  10. Ian can I jump in your suitcase? Hahasounds like paradise away this horrible weather!
  11. Oh and the whole point of people leaving a bit early is because since sydney is prone to havig enty of flooded roads and train lines why wouldn't you recommend people to get out of the city a couple of hours early while they still could without the risk of getting cut off by flooded roads etc. Imagine having trees over houses, roads, train lines etc, trying to deal with that as well as 3 million people trying to get home in congested traffic that's just asking for more car accidents which the emegerancy services would possibly have to attend to. Just seems like common sence to me, why make somethig harder than it has to be. Prior planning prevents piss poor performance.
  12. Hate it when it's like that mate, the fishing has been really slowly lately but I'm actually having the weekend off because I know it's slow. I haven't done that in a long time haha
  13. No neither do I, I normally head wider to some fish traps and private fads but even those have been quiet from what I've heard. This time last year I was getting unlimited number of 80cm+ fish at the sydney fad however
  14. Just wondering if anyone has been to sydney harbour fad lately or even the peak fad? Looking at the weather this weekend just wondering if it's worth a run out there. This dollie season has been pretty shocking compared to last year.
  15. Does it normally take a long time to attract the squid over to te light?
  16. Hey guys so I just installed a squid light on my transom and it's pretty bright. Just wondering if anyone has tried them before with much success? I've given it a go but did to have any success. I think I may need to anchor up somewhere for a long period of time to get it working effectively. Where abouts in the harbour would be a good spot to try it but?
  17. The offer the better mate just depends how big your budget is
  18. Awsome work mate! That natural pillie colour is my all time favorite jig. I can always depend on it!
  19. I saw that very boat today, I was in my boat and I came up the break wall, off the wall past peoples casting distance but and just sounded down the wall for kings. No one seemed to get annoyed as I was off the wall far enough. Boats need to be respectful of land based guys as it's not like they just open the throttle and move to another spot like we can. As for the guys on te pontoon I would Burleyd the crap out of the water and if they said anything my reply would have been well if you let fish there the fish would be all around you now lol. That's just me, I tend to take the more aggressive approach to those situations haha.
  20. Mate save up your money and maybe think about spinning for pelagics off the rocks? At someof the beaches around sydney? The water is about to cool down and then it's time fr salmon off the beach as well, could use e same rod for salmon.
  21. Fair enough, yea that's where I squid , I sleep at clontarf on a mooring in there, I've had the squid die before by sleeping upstream where the water isn't as clean
  22. If it was me, what I would do is go knock on his door. And say look I'm here to have a chat about the boat etc I'm here to talk man to man is there any way I can accommodate you with parttiular hours you would prefer I flush it out etc, explain it is nessicary to flush the motor etc. The if he still is hard to deal with and wants to conplain about it etc if say well basically go f yourself I've tried to accommodate you and talk To man to man but clearly you don't want to. I've checked and it's within my rights to flush the boat so now you will Have to live
  23. Not a problem at all mate glad to help out, good to see you guys land a few legals, it an be pretty hard in the harbour sorting through the rats. If I see you guys out again I'll have to pop over and share info again. I love seeing people who actually respect the fish getting into them. Enjoy for the sport not for taking as many home as you can. Call fisheries you'll find there number on there website just look up the tagging program on there site and in pretty sure it gives you a phone number to contact, they sent me a tag kit and I had it within 2-3 days from memory, I'm out tomorrow to try and pop some more tags in the fish.
