  1. Mate what sort of technique did you use to catch the bigger fish? Or was it just a numbers game?
  2. Nice effort mate, that's a stonker of a squid!
  3. That's unbelievable mate good work! What a monster
  4. Hey guys so after this weekend of having 10 boats around the fad and waverider I've decided to make my own. I'm thinking 2 20lt drums filled with cement chained together running up to and shackle and swivel. 200lb broad up to another 2 or 3 20lt drums attached 5 metres apart using dropped knots down at do you all think? Has anyone else made there own or has some experience with making a fad? Also how much extra line should I give I was think about 50% so 150m if in 100m of water?
  5. Good work mate te fads are getting more and more packed each year. Are you guys saying that it's worth trolling lures with the dolphins because fish hang out with them?
  6. I'm trying to find the bigger dollies at traps and fads etc, is it common knowledge that the bigger ones sit deeper and I should chuck a livey on the downrigger?

    Beer

Nothing like a nice corona with seafood or after a hot day. I drink anything that isn't Hahn super dry or pure blonde. Fnq is an awsome beer. All the James squire range is quite good. Little creatures is nice. I find the caft beer tends to be a bit heavier and bloats me more which isn't a problem when I'm just having one or two after a hard day but when I want drink half a case or you can't beat corona.
  8. It just gets lonely sometimes on the water :/
  9. Nice!!! Good looking feed there! I need someone to give me some tips on bottom bashing I only do it once in a blue moon but when I do I hardly get a bloody keeper! I can catch squid, kings, mahi and other pelagics bit when it comes to have a bash I'm horrible!
  10. Grab some love squid nickolas and you chances of getting a king with go through the roof compared to the humble yakka
  11. Yea give it a go mate I just from one spot To the other the trick with kingfish is to keep moving you need to cover a lot of ground sometimes to find them. Good luck
  12. Lon story short if there is a lot of boats around a marker you won't get a legal king plain and simple, if you do your a very very lucky man
  13. Haha sometimes they don't play by the rules! Can I give you some advice? Never anchor near a marker, if they are there they are there and you will know within the first 2 minutes (if using squid you caught that day) then just drift past as this allows you to drive off the marker once hooked up. If you catch a few rats at one marker don't waste your squid go to another marker and have a go for the bigger fish. Everyone in sydney are just sheep and 90% of the guys out there catch nothing but rats, anyone can catch a rat it's not hard. But to consistently pull nice size legal fish is another ball game. Take the other weekend for example, wedding cakes and yellow can had around 8-10 boats around each one, no one hooking up and all tangling each other's lines and fishing ontop of each other. Even if someone did hook a decent king you'd never land the thing anchored up, even if your using 80lb you'd have a hard time holding them off the marker. So I went to another marker where there was no one, within 1 hour pulled about 8-10kongs to 75cm just drifting past, and got done once on the marker. Some boats saw me and came over so I watched in amusement, everyone throws there anchors down, fish go off the bite, people ask how I'm catching them all and what there doing wrong etc I up and leave back at the ramp by 10 with dinner
  14. Haha col your a patonga local ay? Been camping there since I was a young pup, I've now got my little spot up the end of the creek which I camp at... Best place on earth, wish the fishing was a little better but haha
  15. Good work mate unlucky on the one cm. With all the fresh water in the harbour you should really find the fish are down deeper not up on the surface. Saltwater is heavier than fresh which means basically all the dirty freshwater is on top and the fish especially kingfish which are primarily sight hunters hate that!
  16. I had one spot last year where fr the first 8 times I went there I got a squid first cast, nice size green eyes as well, I ised to get 2-3 there in an hour. I have tried for a total of about 10 hours there over the last 6 months or so and not gotten a thing. I now just drive past the spot, it's really weird
  17. Oh yea haha! Yea sydney harbour isn't the best for squidding to be honest I can fish other water ways and get 10-15 squid in an hour or two. In sydney if I go for green eyes it takes me an hour to get maybe one. I normally do all nighters and get around 10-15 squid in about 5-6 hours in sydney
  18. Not a bad day at all mate good work! Top quality feed you got!
  19. Not to bad then mate considering the weather! Mate can I give you a bit of advice that is goldern. If you want big kings consistently you need to be using live squid, rats will take anything but if you want the bigger kings you need live squid, not yakkas, not slimeys, not fresh hawkesbury squid for the tackle not even squid you have caught that morning that your stripping up! LIVE SQUID!! It's an absolute must! Good job on running back home and still getting out there haha
  20. Fair enough mate I'm not trying to have a crack I know you work on them daily and have years of experience on them. I just like what I like and if some performs for me a few days a week flawlessly and takes little maintance I have nothing to complain about.
  21. Same here mate I just look at it on my phone, so I don't see it. Sorry guys
  22. 3 metres on Sunday morning off sydney on willy weather. Where are you guys getting 1.5 from? Lol I'm temped to go out and have a look on Sunday if it's actually 1.5 I'll be straight out the heads full throttle. Mate get 15-20 livies the more the better really you will go through them fast, head to the fad and then keep pushing easy and you'll find some fish traps there will be dollies at the fad and the traps you find.
  23. What sump and head issues are you talking about? At wide open throttle which would burn more fuel? A yami 4 stroke 40 or etec 40? I've been in a new stacer with a new etec in it and it was a lot noisier than my yami. Just going from what I have seen.
  24. Lol same thing happens to me, the reason I ask about the size is that all I use then for is the dollies, the centurion ones are huge!! To big for the dollies to eat that's the problem, they haven't got a huge mouth like the kings. Yea I have been having a bit of trouble getting them lately and have been experimenting with different baits etc but I think the most effective is to cut the feathers thins off a sabiki use a 3 hook sabiki and bait eat hook with salted pillies, I just hate trying to bait them but lol. It's frustrating when there thousands of the bastards at your feet and won't take anything
  25. Yea let me know mate wouldn't mind knowing what the water is like tomorrow, with the big tides at the mkment hopefully it clears up fairly quick as long as this rain holds off.
