  1. Scratch, maybe we should link willy weather to, I always find willy weather a lot more accurate. I don't know about sea breeze but willy weathers info is straight from the BOM
  2. Mate best tip I can give you is don't bother, I went out today with this wind the harbour is horrible, you can't fish any of the markers since you get blown off them in 2 seconds flat, the water through the whole harbour is as brown as the hawkesbury as well I haven't seen the harbour this dirty ever
  3. Best tip, don't go this weekend the swells are huge mate 3.5m you won't get out and just end up annoyed and wet
  4. Cheers sydneyfisher might have to give it a go
  5. Lol, where abouts do you did the yakkas at Clifton gardens without annoying the guys on the wharf? Do you find there average sized yakkas? I normally go to balmoral but there are to many boats there now and the yakkas become oicky
  6. Awsome thanks guys, fragmeister can you get them reliably from those spots or is it a bit hit and miss? Do you just anchor up somewhere near the shore and burley up and they come?
  7. I personally would never run a 2 stroke ever again, especially if you want to be freshwater fishing in lakes and creeks etc, nothing will scare the fish off than a noisy 2 stroke. Fuel usage isn't as good as a 4 stroke either. The ony Upside to a 2 stroke I can see is it gets out of the hole a lot quicker but really what do that matter? Plus your putting oil in it all the time. Pfft I can't stand 2 strokes now even etecs, I know there supposed to be quieter than your average 2 stroke but there no where near as quiet as a 4 stroke.
  8. Hi guys. Just after a bit of info, I saw a thread on here a while ago about how to catch gars. Now my question is, I've got my breadcrumb burley, my tiny tiny hooks and light line with a float and a tiny piece of prawn bait, but where are some popular far spots in sydney/middle harbour? How common are they? Are they hard to catch? What time of day is best to catch them? Are there enough around to be a reliable source of bait? Cheers guys
  9. Mate I've got a yamaha 40hp 4 stroke 2005 model, the last of the carbis I believe and I cannot fault it, flick the key off it goes all day long, I can get to the shelf and troll lures around for 5-6 hours and come back in and use less than 25litres. A day in the harbour for me I normally use about $8-$10 worth of fuel and I never turn the motor off. Nice clean engine, no fumes at all and whisper quiet. I'm converted now and I wouldn't want anything else on my boats from Now on.
  10. Typical, right when I have a free weekend and know where the big dollies are off sydney it's horrible weather!!! Makes me angry
  11. I haven't caught a bonnie in a while and really like eating them, just wondering where they are at the moment and how are people targeting them or what lures are best to troll, spin etc etc, might have to get to some ledges after work and do some spinning for them!
  12. I've been wanting to try this for a while now, might give me the motivation to do it! Anchor up burley burley burley and pit a nice slab out can't be that hard, I'd just keep a pair of side cutters on me and cut the trace and let the shark swim off with a new piercing. I couldn't think of anything worse than having 200kg of shark meat hahaha
  13. Nice pics mate, everyone knows about the Newcastle one haha
  14. Hi mate waverider stays in the same place, I was there today enty of small dollies on there, 40-50cm
  15. No worries at all guys, if you had any other questions always glad to help!
  16. That's what I mean don't go all the way through the squid.
  17. So basically if I'm downrigging I use braid to leader with an fg knot, a out a rod lengths of mono leader (not fluro!) then just tie the hook on that's it. I use two set ups one with a single hook rig then one with a double hook rig, The double hook I use for bigger squid if I'm targeting big kings. I go to the tackle Shop and buy those lumo green beads which have a hole drilled through then to thread onto your line, well I thread them into the line then slide a hook on and slide the bead over the hook, it's hard to do and requires a lot of pushing Buy can be done. Then just tie a hook on the end. What this achieves is you have a sliding rig so you can adjust to the length if the squid, the. Simply with your top hook pin the squid through very tip of the hood, not in the back and out the front but just through his skin and come back out the same side of his good if that makes sence! Imagine your just giving him a piercing not stabbig him through his whole body, this helps keep the squid alive. Then the second hook put through the bottom of his hood just tuck it up through the hood. I'll see if I have any photos to show you, very important to have some slack line between the two hooks but so you don't bunch the squid up when in the water. If drifting just slide on a decent sized ball sinker tie a swivel on then from the swivel to an arms length of leader to your hook that's it.
  18. Cheers mate, got the gopro sitting on the dash of the boat need to adjust the lense a bit I think
  19. Good work mate I was amongst then to and can guess exactly where you were, as for the guys keeping the undersiZe ones a few snapper leads thrown straight at there boat as you drive off would work quite nicely! People like that really annoy me! Especially when you get people such as myself who use large live bait hooks which hook the fish in the corner of the mouth and change all my lures around to single hooks, and do everything I can including Tagging fish to ensure there survival and future survival. Makes me sick to be honest, if love to see some of these people at the boat ramp. So has your son changed his mind about fishing a bit you think?
  20. Decided to head out today late last night so hooked the boat up grabbed the rods and had no plan really for the next day. Set the alarm for 4am but slept through it and woke up at 6. Was thinking if not even going since it was so late but went anyway knowing it would be tough. Got to the ramp at 7am and headed out to find some squid. Tried for about 1.5 hours then finally hooked one with another up his bum so through out the second rod right on top of him and hooked him as well. So two in tank was enough I decided since I hate squidding in sydney with a passion! Tried a few spots and found a school so decided to strip the baits up and ended up with 8-9 kings up between 62-72 all nice and fat but which was good to see! Took one home for dinner since I reckon I've caught 50 rats lately to every legal, normally I only keep anything 75cm. Was a fun session and was back at the ramp by 1030.
  21. Mate can you please let me know how you go in really keen to know!
  22. I went to sydney fad and they weren't there A week ago
  23. If you don't feel comfortable always turn around don't push yourself. Pick your days then maybe one day head to long reef, then maybe head to the fad, then the peak, then 12 mile. Basically just a little further each time. I regularly head around the whale fad area, and a bit further out and I'm in a 4.2 runabout and I'm quite comfortable.
