  1. Thanks Donna for getting this fixed, I was tucked up in bed when you were working away on this matter. Thanks once again for making this a great forum for us all.
  2. This may not be PC but not a fan of people driving boats onto trailers, a lot of damage has been caused at ramps by the prop wash, washing the sand and fill at the end of the ramps away. I winch mine on, 20 foot half cabin fiberglass and have no issues, and it is a manual winch. I have seen people power load their boat onto the trailer then not but the safety chain on, then whamo when being towed up the ramp the boat just falls off the trailer.
  3. Great post wangwang , isnt it awesome to catch you first decent fish, awesome feeling. Why was the Aussie Samon a dud , they can and do cook up well. Keep studying , but there is always time for a fish. Look in the cooking section for ideas, or try youtube and type in Aussie Salmon cooking. This is a great forum for all to share and enjoy. Keep up the good work.
  4. Some great advice there, I will be targeting Hairtails this weekend
  5. Nice catch, they look quality fish
  6. Great few spent doing what we all like doing, looks a great haul, well done
  7. Nothing like a bit of salt water to start the rust happening. Glad you caught it when you did, it would have been a mess going down the freeway when she fell apart.
  8. Love being on the water, it relaxes me, does'nt matter what I am doing on the water but just to be on it is magic. How great is it that it is an affordable hobby/ sport to be on the water for everyone. You can have a cheapie plastic canoe, to a multi mega yatch, but for me my old 1986 boat and motor is my choice of fun.
  9. Having just replaced all my rollers due to rust, worn and split rollers, wow a difference in launching and retrieving it makes to have rollers that actually roll. My wife even noticed the difference.
  10. 1st Welcome to the forum. If you are worried about it contact the dealer you brought it from, they are the experts and will know straight away if their is an issue or not. Give them a call on Tuesday and speak to the service manager, as you said it was the first time you ran this motor and she is a brand spanker, I dont think their will be any issues
  11. Yesterday, I replaced all the rollers on the boat trailer, god only knows how old the rubber ones were. ll split and cracked and jammed. Today I took the wife for a crusie in Brisbane Waters, mainly to try out the boat trailer rollers, wow what an improvement to have rollers that actually roll not jam and wont turn. It is like night and day. A huge improvement for putting the boat on and off the trailer. The wife just wanted a quiet day on the water so we packed a lunch , and a thermos of tea, must have the tea, and off we went, we where going to gp up the Hawkesbury River but when we got to half tide rocks and saw the swell the wife said no, we headed back and had a lovely cruise in Brisbane Waters, stopped at the Rip Bridge for lunch, the tide was wrong but still put out two rods, no luck but didnt expect any, then we cruised to Saratoga and up to Gosford before heading back to Koolewong. All in all a great day with the wife and dogs. And isnt that what life is about.
  12. On Sunday I will be Brisbane waters and Hawkesbury as well, will mainly be a family cruise but will drop a line at some point.
  13. Great report, that is how it goes some times no keepers , but still sounds like a great day with your dad, I bet he enjoyed the day spent with you as well, and in the end isnt that is what it is all about.
  14. Wow that looks so bad. I hope he has just bought this rig and going straight home to fix it. If he is using it like this it will not be long before it fails, wonder how long since the wheel bearings have been checked.

    battery

Any of those Battery only shops have marine batteries
  16. That looks nice, I can almost taste it
  17. Patonga can be deficult in big swells, if you ate coming from Sydney side try Mooney Mooney at Brooklyn road bridge or even Parsley bay at Brooklyn , both are better ramps and more shelted than Patonga. But then you have a longer boat trip past Patonga and behind Lion Island , but then you can access Brisbane Waters at Lobster beach.
  18. You can always. Get a good feed from Brisbane Waters, plenty of flatties and bream. Either with bait or SP's. The legal jewie ( over 70cm) is a great fish and plenty of them about, but like anything good you need patience and skill to get them.
  19. Tascott Koolewong area the rain has not stopped all day, but in Brisbane Waters it is a milpond, went to Ocean Beach waves are big and dirty, along Ettalong good, Brisbane Water side of the Mantra.
  20. To true a great fighter and true legend. RIP
  21. Great response Recurve. Also listen to the weather reports on channel 16 on the vhf marine radio.
  22. Have a look at this buks https://www.amsa.gov.au/forms-and-publications/search-and-rescue/publications/documents/Wind_&_Waves.pdf It shows wave and swell heights for different size of boats and what speed to comfortabley take them. If nothing elese it is a good reference guide untill you know and are comfortable handling your boat
  23. Thats a killer, i dont do maintenance as such I do what I call fiddling with things, I am always doing something to the boat or trailer.
  24. Good catch , nothing beats fishing out of a boat
