  1. Nice day out, the Hammer Heads are a good experience to catch, Nice mixed bag.
  2. Just finish reading this topic, thank you to all who have given advice, like a lot, the big jew is my dream catch, and this advice and knowledge gained hopefully will see me getting that once in a lifetime fish. I think my main problem is lack of paitence, as I am a very active person, I need to relax and slow down whilst fishing, every fishing trip I get better at this. I have improved my berley mixture and method, my baits are in better condition before hooking up and on the hook, I am constantly looking at and taking advice when I can, so the time is getting closer for me to hook up that big jew that has my name on it.
  3. Cannot beat fishing with the boys, sounds like you had a great time of it. That Kingie is a beauty , love the crown. They will need to talk your into fishing more often if you keep getting those results.
  4. That is a great idea, been looking at doing something similar , also need something to store my knives in nice and handy to the bait board
  5. Bream and Flatties would have to be the staple of eustary fishing on the east coast, ( lucky for me), as long as we all release the under size fish, and the big breeders, we will have good fishing for our grand kids to enjoy, and they are a lovely eating fish too.
  6. Well done Mike89 , you will remember that jewie for a long time, just keep trying and never give up, do not be afraid to try something different.
  7. That is a great idea, will have to look at getting a pair of them. I like how they come apart great to clean and sharpen like you said.
  8. Great family fishing trip with plenty of action, so glad that Anthony got his fair share of them. as well. Good looking tailor and flattie. You will look back on these days in the future and see that they were the best times. Well done.
  9. Oh wow that is stunning, cross the bridge every day by train for work, but never seen it like this, great photo, absoutley stunning.
  10. Nice work mum, happy birthday, let the boys spoil you, Looks like you are a demon on the squid, love the fishing girls. Great job Dan for taking the day off to spend with your mum
  11. You luck B fishing on a Wednesday, sounds like a good catch you had. Will be out in Brisbane Waters on Sunday wetting a line or two, usually put the boat in at Patonga, great spot and easy access to Juno point the bridges , Pittwater or outside.
  12. This is a recepie that I have used and modified over the years, and always gets great results. #1 first catch your fish, clean and fillet, bream, flathead, tailor, whitting, whatever you catch, fillet with skin on or off, I prefer skin on depending on fish. #2 wipe dry your fish with paper towels. #3 in a fry pan add oil just enough to cover the base of the pan, I use a cast iron pan , this provides good even heat to the fish. The oil I use is a peanut or grape seed oil. #4 in a dish mix up equal parts of plain flour and rice flour (rice flour gives some crunch and adds a really nice colour to the fish), two teaspoon garlic powder, teaspoon paprika, and add pepper to taste, I use ground white pepper as it has a lighter milder flavour than black pepper, use no salt. Mix well together. #5 coat fish well with flour mix making sure entire fish is covered. #6 add to oil a good desert spoon of butter (not maragine) and stir butter/oil till melted and blended together. #7 add coated fish fillets skin side down, dont over crowd the pan two - three fillets depending on fish and pan size is usually enough to cook at one time, cook for three minutes then gentley turn the fish over, cook the other side for a further three minutes or until golden in colour. #8 serve immediately fish is cooked . Additional information. Serve with mashed potatoe (my favourite), or salad, coleslaw is another option I like to have with this dish Oil for pan, you can use any oil you have but the peanut oil gives a nice slightly nutty flavour to the fish. I warm the serving plates, as fish tends to cool quickly Add salt at the table if required. Remember you dont have to over flavour fish with heavy spices , I just keep it pretty simple. Hope you all like. Allan
  13. Have a look at Dunn Swamp up near Rylstone, great camping spots, not sure about dogs, beautiful water for the yaks and fresh water fishing
  14. Good on you Nathan, great report, shame about the Jewie but sounds like some great fishing was had by all, and in the end that is the main thing, having fun with mates.Allan
  15. Some of the fee does go to Marine Rescue , i think it is 10 % off the top of my head. Hey Bill do you keep you old rego number or is a new one issued. Looks real good too.
  16. That is not just a sunrise. It is the start to another bloody awesome day.
  17. That is one of the joys of fishing, you never know what you are going to catch, good haul.
  18. Congrautulations on a great day out, looks a real nice Jewie too. Good way to break in a new rod with plenty of fish. I just picked up a new spinner rod so will be trying it out next weekend, hope for a decent catch.
  19. Always good to see how other people do it at different ramps. I launch at Patonga mainly and without a floating pontoon you have to beach the boat, especially as my wife will not drive the boat or car with trailer, it makes it a longer and more diffuclt job depending on the wind and swell. It is amazing how many boats will not start when in the water, usually a maintenance issue , lack of knowledge by the skipper , skipper only using boat a couple of times a year.
  20. Hey Going Fishing, sounds like you had a great morning on the water with the flatties. Man you have one great dad to wash your boat, if I take him out will he wash my boat too. Hope your daughter had a great birthday as well. Sounds like a great day for all involved.
  21. Over Easter we stayed at a holiday cottage at Milsons Passage (Hawkesbury River). I had a couple of days when I got up early while the Princess was still sleeping and took off in the boat, found a nice spot on the river, which is not hard to do, anchored up, put out the burley pot and lines, and made a cuppa from the thermos and had a sandwich. I just sat there enjoying the mill pond water, the quietness and stillness all around me and just enjoyed the conversion from dark to first light. This would have to be the best time of the day, the time before the noise of the day starts. Once the first rays of the day change into morning, it becomes a different world. The breeze picks up, the water is not as still, bird songs fill the air, noise from other boats can be heard. But for me it is that conversion time that I like the most. How lucky are we if you have a boat and access to our beautiful waterways, we can enjoy the stillness of the day and just let our minds drift away with the serinity around us.
  22. Great job Nathan, looks like you have a new fisho in the family, it is good to see all people can enjoy fishing, I remember many years ago when I took my then young son fishing for the first time, what a great day that was too. Give her the sienna 2500, you deserve a new one.
  23. Great fisho report , awesome feeling catching your first jewie, well done.
  24. I have seen a few small outboards used as letter boxes but a Mercury 250 Pro XS , that is a costly disaster.
