  3. Another good episode tonight.I am not a trout fisherman and have only ever caught them at a weekend event they hold every year in the local swimming pool.

This was the first time i have ever seen a show where they use sp's to catch trout. Its good to know that if i am ever in trout country i will still be able to fish.

    Cant wait till next week.

  4. what do you mean poor conditions?? those photos look pretty flat. nice tailor

That was a quick break in the weather. The water was pretty flat but the rain was annoying.

hey steve h! just a bit off topic, every time i see ur name it reminds me of a guy i used to be friends with and i think oh no but thankfully its not you. thou i do wonder how long you have been playing soccer in c/town for as we are the same age and ive played soccer here since u/6!

Im 34 been in the area my whole life. Im involved with a local club as registrar.I have a boy who plays(playing up a year in u11s)and my :wife: plays aswell in an all age ladies team.I havnt played for years.

  5. I use a small bucket with a lid.Add in some chicken pellets, dry cat food and some bread. When i arrive at the fishing spot i add some water and mix well.i have a small platisc cup and i just scoop out a cup full and throw overboard at spaced intervals(usually next time i remember). I sometimes also add offcuts and bits of bait that we are using(prawnheads/pilchard chunks etc.).I have also tried using a few squirts of squidgy scent when using 2 rods(one with a sp,also sprayed with scent).

  6. Had hopes of hitting botany bay early sunday morning, but woke to find :1badmood: weather had turned to crap. Rang the father in law, and he wasnt to keen to go at all,but with the boat already hooked up and gear ready to go i managed to convince him.

We hit the water at around 7,and headed down river.Decided to stop near lugarno, where the previous sunday we had managed a couple of nice fat bream.Dropped the anchor and started a lite berley trail. Not alot of action a few small bream, a small flatty and 1 alright tailor of 40cm(caught on crappy frozen prawn).

We managed to stay fairly pretty much dry under the canopy and it was good to test the boat in less than ideal conditions,as this was only the 3rd time i have had the boat on the water and used it to see what it was like to navigate under these conditions.I dont plan on heading out straight into this kind of weather on a regular basis, but atleast i know what to expect if i get caught in similar conditions.

About 1030 the wind started to pick up a little bit so we decided to call it quits.

  8. I am on the lookout at the moment for one, for my son and daughter also 10. They have grown out of the one he had. They go on weight, so try and get one that you can grow with for a few years.

The ones we have at the moment are Brand named - RFD . They have been good and the kids never complained about comfort.

I will be buying these shortly(needed for a trip in september), I will try and post a couple of the selections i end up choosing from.

  9. Have had some success using them at mainbar, caught mostly whiting on them.

I will have to check what hook size i use, but experimented with a few. I mostly use a bait holder hook, and put about 3 crabs on each. I have fished with and without a trace, but always with only a small amount of lead.

The only problem i have had, is i have missed a few strikes while the rod has been in a holder on the sand. I think it is just due to how soft the crabs are(easily removed).

    Good luck

    Stephen.

  10. Grab one of the various combo packs with some plastics, jigs and a dvd. I got the squidgie one a few years ago now as a xmas gift(i think berkley have them also). They are a good starting point as you get a mix of plastics/jigs and the dvd showed how to rig them correctly and some fishing techniques.

    good luck

    Stephen
