  1. I think you would love it mate, plenty of good reef in close for soft plastics, same areas have mackerel in summer. Fish rock to the south has heaps of kings and in the river you catch anything, even saw a guy catch a massive cobia years ago. Gave the plastics a go on the way back in, showing plenty of bait but no wind or drift so was pretty well staying still. Dad said the week before they were getting some big snapper there.
  2. Went up for the yearly visit to see the family. Great day out on the water but probably too good with no drift. Went over the bar just on day break and glad to see it was flat as a tack even on the run out tide. Fishing was good for about an hour, caught a few to keep, three heaps back and got smoked by something decent. After about an hour everything went dead, couldn’t hardly get a bite. Heaps of whales about with some of the best breaches and displays I’ve ever seen, topped the day off.
  3. I know what you mean by loosing touch, went out the other day and forgot to tilt up the jockey wheel. I was wondering what the vibration was, got about 500 m up the road and stopped, found it smoking, still sort of works, ha ha
  4. Good to hear your getting the boat wet again Baz ?
  5. Thanks mate, I really appreciate the offer, we are planning something else now down south. It's really good to see many people willing to help?
  6. Thanks mate, I tried them but no good. Cheers Thanks mate, I don't think ill do it now , the missus wants to go further down south coast. I'd be kicking myself if something happened to the trailer and I was aware their night be a risk
  7. The freezer must be looking well stocked?
  8. Thanks mate I'll check it out, cheers
  9. Hi Frank That's a very generous offer, not many people are willing to help strangers out these days. We are still contemplating what to do , I'll be sure to consider your offer if we book in. Thanks Frank
  10. Thanks mate, I was hoping that wouldn't be the case. Always someone around causing trouble. It would really ruin your holiday if it happened, worse case I won't even be able to get the boat back home
  11. Hi All I'm booking a house in the upper Hawkesbury and it's only accessible by boat. We are thinking of parking the car and trailer and leaving it at Mooney Mooney boat ramp for about 3 nights/days. Just wondering if anyone knows if this area is safe to leave the car for a few days. Anyone had any bad experiences, thefts etc. I heard its ok as a lot of caravaners etc stay overnight there. Cheers
  12. Looks like a nice day mate, I’m back home next week so I’ll bring the wind back
  13. That’s the way, you can never have enough brownie points, I’m driving kids around for star struck for the next few days so hopefully I’ll accumulate a few myself
  14. A bit of salt spray might fix you up Baz
  15. Hi all went for a quick one this morning as I new the wind was coming up. And what do you know as soon as I get to my spot up it comes. Struggled but got a feed in the end. Heaps of small snapper out there just on size, kept a couple as their swim bladders came out. 4 x snapper 1 x pearly 1x morwong 1 x flathead 1 x bonnie Anyway I’m thinking of farming the wind instead of fishing as every time I go out it blows its guts out even when only light winds are forecast. Still better then work
  16. Nice feed fellas, hope you left me a couple up there
  17. Maybe have them in a keeper net off the side of the jetty or boat where your fishing. Might work( not sure).
  18. Thanks for the heads up mate. i wouldn’t like hitting one, it might make the crack I’ve got in my hull a bit bigger
  19. Nice feed mate, I've got to get one if those vac seal machines. How long does the fish last in the freezer doing it that way?
  20. The problem welding galvanised steel is you need to grind it off to weld and the heat produced also effects the area. If you prep the area, paint properly and coat the crap out of it with some form of corrosion prevention it should last for a while. try not to fully submerge the trailer helps as well
  21. I’ve got the same problem on the the cross members, Rusting out bad where the bend is. Got quoted $600 for welding in 2 galvanised ones. A lot cheaper obviously if I do it myself which I’m considering .
  22. Some nice fish there mate. What fish is that second from the right of the bonito. Pig fish?
  23. Good choice Baz. Hard not to eat some nice fresh squid. If you ever have too much you can send them my way, ha ha
  24. Hey Baz I went out today with pretty much the same results. couple of Bonnie’s, hoping the weather man got the forecast wrong, nope he got it right , blowing hard and slop. Did you find your leak?
  25. Yeah mate 2/1 roster Heading back home on Thursday and planning on heading out on Monday. Not sure about heading to Broughton or heading out a bit wider to get a few trag and pearlies. If it’s not blowing I might try a bit of slow jigging on some reefs. Marked some ok spots last time out so wouldn’t mind going back
