  1. That’s a top Mother’s Day weekend report hope you have a great day
  2. Good mixed bag Luke, got to be happy with that, most of us get donuts mate some just prefer to eat them 😆
  3. Wow another barrel, definitely living the dream with all her various escapades 👍
  4. Great report & photos, good on you for managing a feed most of the time, do you happen to use an fg leader to braid knot, ever since I switched over from a double uni casting lures I haven’t had an issue
  5. Wow Waza how’s your typing finger after that epic chapter, another great read mate, good to here he walked away, the video that @alexoklad is the perfect accompaniment to your story. Is that the Ben Buckler if so any chance of shedding a little bit of light about the man
  6. Good report & photo, nice healthy looking fish, love the purple hues especially on jewies
  7. Great report & video nice to see the kingy released to fight another day
  8. Seen yakkas caught at Woy Woy wharf, maybe try any wharfs out of main current & use a bit of burley to see if they are around
  9. I never caught a John Dory there but had seen the odd one in someone’s bucket usually on a Saturday afternoon after sports, the garfish from memory used to be on the left side in front of the sailing club which was quite busy on weekends The way you described the old guy focused on the water arm outstretched & a flat cap sounds like the same bloke who taught me, not much of a talker but friendly When I first ventured down the wharf before school I’d watch him intently & ask all sorts of questions, by about the third or fourth morning he offered me a hand line & there after he always had it ready & baited for when I arrived (probably to shut me up 😂) I remember the first big fantail I hooked & lost from being so eager to get it in, I was gutted & probably more upset that I’d lost his hook but he just tied another on & coached me on the next big one. That lesson helped me catch plenty of bream, trevally, tailor & good leather jackets off that wharf. Great spot to fish from the wharf still looks the same with only a few minor alterations
  10. From what you describe @Yon I wonder if it could be a small great white, I’ve never knowingly hooked one but we have a cold water band hard up against the coast & I have heard of a few recently being caught in the beach nets with the odd larger one along the central coast, Avoca region Back in the late eighties fishing the balconies (Bundeena) around this time of the year I hooked something that was like a slow bus idling along on 25 lb mono & a heavy beach rod everything was strained to the limit & the only reaction I got was the odd big head shake & after 5 minutes & about to be spooled I grabbed hold of the spool & almost snapping the rod the line parted After winding in & checking the working end I found the line to be all chaffed & roughed up
  11. Figured as much re the steamroller I was shown the ropes by an old Italian bloke who used mince meat as bait of choice, that corner store got plenty of my coin for both lollies & prawns, I fished there from the beginning of the seventies aged about 9 or10 for about3 years, biggest fish I’d seen & hooked there was a 4 foot shovel nose shark (not landed though) have since heard of kingys being caught there though, even came across the odd seahorse along the foreshore
  12. Great job Zoran when I first saw it I thought it looked a bit like a kings throne, the way Archie has settled into his knew chair I reckon he could join you & Maria at tea time or even a dinner party in time 😁
  13. Hi & welcome to fishraider, Like you & Blackfish I also started my fishing with a hand line off that very wharf most mornings before school catching yakkas & fantail leather jackets, like you I became obsessed & caught a lot of different species there but never saw a slimy, I wonder if the steamroller is still in the park
  14. I picked up the same rod yesterday & going to put my penn slammer III 6500 on, the prevail rods are a good price for what you get, can’t wait to try it out
  15. Since we’ve been given the green light to fish up my way on a good day during the week up to 20 + people on Avoca rocks & the Terrigal boat ramp nearly half full, weekends up to 40 on the rocks & boat ramp almost full
  16. Hey @Berleyguts have a look at marine wind forecasts at bom.gov au it has a predicted wind direction & speed forecast every three hours, I’ve found it to be 90% accurate
  17. Nice looking rig your daughter has as her office, I’m assuming that’s a sight seeing tour onboard
  18. I can just see it now, you out on the bay a couple of lines over the side mortar & pestle in hand, smells wafting out of the oven & boats all around you like a flock of seagulls hoping for a scrap
  19. Makes me wonder wether the Coronavirus has played a part, less hot gases, pollution & lack of planes, stars are brighter & more visible in the sky. The seasons this year appear to be like decades ago & I’m seeing cloud formations I haven’t seen for years & yes I know we have cycles (El Niño & La Niña) & as you said Waza even the fish seem to be on track like yesteryear. Mm makes one wonder!
  20. Adrian that just reminded me of those delicious hot venison pies you made that we had on the boat that day, 😋 yum!!
  21. My legs got wobbly when you described leaning out to slip the rope into the pulley & the white line foot hold caused my wrists to tense up That’s an awesome description of the climb Waza that would’ve been an amazing climb, heart in mouth & what an adrenaline rush
  22. In that case I’ve got quite a few of my old girlfriends still hanging around some of them I’ve totally worn out & have gotten lots of girlfriends since getting married Please don’t tell my wife! 😂
  23. This problem could come about if it is either incorrectly installed (pipe sizing of gas lack of pressure, more than one appliance used) or another common issue can be a combination of shower head restricter & water supply pressure drop to unit caused by other taps being used or the toilet being flushed That would definitely make a difference as the instantaneous HWS has a high MJ/H gas consumption Bummer about that, hopefully one of the manufacturers incorporates a reliable hydropower system into there units because of possible future power failures
